Monroe PD Reports: Person shot, snake in the ceiling, fraud and domestic disputes

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period April 13 – 19, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop, East Church St./High School Ave. A Chrysler 300 bearing GA tag # was impounded by Towing company for no insurance.
  • Suspicious Person, Deer Acres Inn, reference to a white female hiding in bushes. The female was gone when officers arrived.
  • Dispute, Booth Dr., Herman Kelley and subject were physically disputing. Herman was arrested for battery.
  • Meet with Officer, Jack Peters Store. Complainant advised three younger black males jumped him around 0100 hours this date while he was walking home.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Bridgeport Place. complainant advised his step daughter was breaking things in the house and causing a scene. He advised that she left the house prior to Officer arrival. Complainant and another subject advised they wanted to take step daughter to the hospital for a mental health evaluation due to suicidal threats. Officers in the area made contact with step daughter on Norris Street. Step daughter began getting combative with Officers on scene and was taken into custody. Multiple pills were located in her pocket. Step daughter was transported to Piedmont Walton for a mental evaluation. A juvenile complaint will be completed.
  • Welfare Check, Maple St., reference to making contact with female subject who had possibly been in a dispute on location. Officer made contact with subject on Maple Street. She stated everything was ok and no dispute occurred.
  • Dispute, Lacy St., Officer made contact with complainant who stated her sister-in-law threatened to have her brother kill her. Sister-in-law advised she never threatened complainant and that complainant punched her in the face. There were no visible marks, and complainant denied hitting the sister-in-law. All witnesses denied having knowledge as to what happened. Report taken.
  • Theft, Bryant Rd., reference to the possible theft of a canine. Complainant advised he would call back when he gathered more information.
  • Animal Complaint, Lacy St., reference to a snake in the ceiling. The complainant was advised to contact their landlord.
  • Violent Dispute, Birch St., male and female subjects were physically disputing. Male grabbed female around the neck and choked her until she passed out. Female’s children were present and witnessed the incident. Female is also 4 months pregnant. Male was gone and female was transported to Piedmont Walton. After further investigation, charges will be taken against female.
  • Dispute, East Spring St., reference to a dispute over a canine. Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, Lacy St., reference to meeting with mother about her son being on drugs. Negative contact.
  • Follow Up, Birch St., officer made contact with male subject in reference to the prior call at this address. Male subject advised female began arguing with him and struck him in the face. Male had a large knot and a scratch on his forehead along with a busted lip. Information added to original report and charges will be taken against female.
  • Theft report taken at MPD, complainant advised that he gave a iPhone X to a male subject through another male subject on Magnolia Terrace. Complainant was initially advised this was a civil matter. After further investigation it was determined that the situation was a possible catfishing scam conducted by one of the male subjects. Report taken.
  • Theft Report, West Spring St., an employee of Walmart was scanning items and put her cell phone down on a clothes rack. A few minutes later a black female on a handicap scooter was passing by with her juvenile children and saw the phone. They looked around and picked the phone up and left the store. The phone was pinged to the area on Lacy Street
  • Theft, Glen Iris Dr., complainant advised his Apple I-Phone 8 was taken from the Courthouse earlier this date. He advised he was supervising a group a community service worker when his phone went missing. The Apple I-Phone 8 was placed on GCIC.
  • Damage to Property, South Madison Ave., complainant advised his fiancee was at their residence and heard a cracking noise. She opened the back-screen door and the window suddenly shattered. No evidence of foul play. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person, Bryant Rd.  in area of Athens Tech, reference to a black male in a red shirt, screaming. Officer located male subject on the property behind the gym. Subject was rambling and not making sense. He had a steak knife in his right pocket and was told by officer to drop the knife on the ground in which he complied. He stated he needed help and was given a ride to Piedmont Walton. Subject was having a psychotic episode.
  • Dispute, Pine Park St., reference to complainant calling because neighborhood kids hit her vehicle with football. Complainant was concerned because the kids have been having problems with hers. Officer spoke to the neighborhood kids and all were sent back to their house. all ok
  • Damage to Property, MLK Jr Blvd – 4 Seasons Car Wash in reference to complainant stating her vehicle a red in color Nissan Maxima being damaged in the car wash, Report taken.
  • 911 Hang-up, East Fambrough St., reference to two male subjects arguing over $20, situation mediated, parties separated. Civil remedies were explained.
  • 911 Hang Up, Mayfield Dr., reference to a 911 call with an open line.  Static on call back.  Upon arrival no one came to the door and could not see into house.
  • Dispute, Vine St., reference to male and female having a verbal argument, situation mediated, everything on location ok. Report taken.
  • Dispute, Carver place, complainant disputing with subject over children disputing in the neighborhood. Subject was given a criminal trespass warning to stay away from  Carver Place.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., reference to two subjects.  One subject was taking care of the kids and was not turning the kids back over to the mother.  Subject dropped the kids off at the grandmother house. 
  • Dispute, Alcovy St., reference to mother wanting her daughter to get help due to being depressed and intoxicated, daughter was transported to Piedmont Walton upon her request to get help.
  • Civil Issue, Birch St., Complainant want police to stand by while picking up personal items.  The complainant never arrived at this location.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Marable Court, complainant left her 2017 Mercedes C300 parked outside running while she ran in the house. Complainant came outside to find her vehicle missing she was able to track it with her Iphone on Hwy 138 heading towards Conyers Walton County Sheriff’s Office was notified. Report Taken
  • Disturbing the Peace, Green St., reference to complainant calling about people playing loud music.  Negative contact.
  • Dispute, Knight St., A black Ford F-150 was laying drag in the area.  Anthony Sandoval was located and arrested for DUI.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 78 and Unisia Dr., reference to a white in color Chevy Malibu tag number given failure to maintain lane, area check conducted with negative contact.
  • Loud Noise, Jessica Way, reference to a noise complaint.  Upon arrival one person walked away upon seeing a patrol car.  Attempted to evade officers when caught.  Person was charged with disorderly conducted.
  • Gun shot, Tanglewood, reference to complainant being shot one time in the left side of his chest.  Transported to Piedmont Athens.  Scene turned over to CID.
  • Citizen Assist, West Spring St., Piedmont, reference to giving complainant ride to Alcovy St.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., reference to subject riding bicycle with no lights or reflectors due to vehicle broken down. Given a ride to Piedmont where he works.
  • Follow Up, Pannell Rd., Assisted CID in locating hand gun used in last night’s shooting. The gun was located and recovered by CID.
  • Follow Up, Lacy St., reference to a theft report taken last date at Walmart. Officer had negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 78 West Bound/Mt. Vernon Rd., reference to a black Honda CR-V speeding and reckless towards the city. Officer had negative contact.
  • Transport at MPD. Kentavious Almond was transported to the Walton County Jail for CID.
  • Civil Issue, Rosewood Lane, reference to subject wanting to retrieve property. The property was retrieved.
  • Vehicle Accident on Highway 78/East Spring St. exit. Single vehicle accident, no report of injury. Turned over to Georgia State Patrol. Driver #1 arrested for DUI Drugs.
