Monroe PD Reports: Several responses to hospital for unruly patients

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 26 – Feb. 1, 2018. Due to the length of this report it has been split into five sections. This is the 3rd part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Discharging Firearms at Custom Way. Area checked negative contact. Other people in the area stated no gunshots were heard.
  • Dispute at 3rd Street. Wrecker driver called in reference to a dispute over the repossession of a vehicle. While on scene officers explained to owner that the wrecker driver was repossessing the vehicle and she needed to contact the lien holder in the morning.
  • Traffic Stop Cook St/Sorrell St., Officer noticed a white passenger car with no tag light. Conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. Driver William Gibbs was placed under arrest for driving while unlicensed and transported to the police station. he was finger printed and released on citations, report taken.
  • Missing Person Athens Clarke County, Athens-Clarke County Officers located a missing female out of the City Of Monroe. Her daughter was notified. Female was removed off of GCIC. Supplemental report added.
  • Suspicious Person Davis St/Pine Park St., Officers observed a male standing in the street yelling. Male was warned to remain inside his residence and stop causing a disturbance.
  • Dispute Clearview Regional, Patients continued to leave his room and cause problems for the nurse. Situation mediated.
  • Welfare Check East 5th St., Clearview attempted to contact personal care home on E 5th St in reference to patient needing a ride home after being released. Contact was made with care taker who advised they would call Clearview.
  •  911 Hang-Up, N Broad St., Officers made contact with residents at GW Carver Dr. They advised that no one called the police and were okay. The address of North Broad Street was located by phase 2 from dispatch. It is not a valid address 
  • Suspicious Person Custom Way, Complainant stated unknown subjects knocked loudly on her door. Conducted area check with negative contact, also checked several vehicles in the area with negative contact with any entered vehicles.
  • Suspicious Vehicle Monroe Motor Inn, Gary Powell, Stephanie Devaney, Sheila Burnette on location sleeping in a vehicle. Subjects have been warned several times by staff. Powell, Devaney, Burnette were arrested for loitering and transported to WCSO.
  • Dispute Clearview Regional, Patient on location becoming combative, while en route units were advised patient fled from the hospital. Subject was located and transported back to Clearview. Clearview then released patient from mental health evaluation. Patient was transported to his residence.
  • Dispute North Madison Ave. Complainant, advised she found two males in her daughters’ bedroom. She stated one of the males was lying on top of her 11-year-old, her 16-year-old, one daughter invited males over for the night. Complainant stated she saw one male lying on top of daughter. Daughter denied that anything happened. Both males were gone upon arrival.
  • Domestic at Green Street in reference to a possible physical dispute. Complainant advised she got into an argument with her child’s father. No signs of physical abuse. Complainant gathered her belongings and left with her mother and infant baby.

  • Suspicious Person at Mill Street. Complainant advised a suspicious person walking around homes in the area, possibly wanting to break into cars. Complainant requested extra patrol. Negative contact with any suspicious persons in the area.

  • Threats, Unisia Drive – Hitachi. Contact made with subjects who all escorted ex-employee out this morning after he was fired. Subject made verbal threats causing them concern. Advised to call the MPD if subject returned to the premise.
  • Welfare Check at Towler Street – Camptown Garden.Contact made with Property Manager stating a female was lying asleep in a black Honda CRV in front of apartment and wanted officers to check on her. Vehicle and person gone and advising she’s observing a lot of traffic from apartment. Complainant was told to contact officers if needed during inspection.
  • Auto Accident Private Property Turner Street. Van vs. unoccupied church van. No injuries reported. Driver #1, Courtney Nelson, was arrested for MPD FTA warrant. Female was fingerprinted and transported to Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Warrant Service at North Broad Street – Food Mart. Unknown caller advised female was on location with an active warrant for her arrest. Area checked with negative contact, possibly reside at Roosevelt street. That location also checked with no contact made.
  • Dispute at Acarida Court. Contact made with brother’s verbally disputing over one taking the other’s television. One brother had active warrants and was transported by GSP to the Walton County Jail. Situation was mediated. Supplemental added to original case report.
  • Mental Subject, East 5th Street in reference to a resident consistently hitting her head on the ground. Female whom is bipolar and has dementia, was on the ground refusing to get up. The psych nurse on location advised she had been repeatedly striking her head on the ground prior to officer’s arrival. MED 5 responded to the scene and transported female to Clearview Regional Medical Center.
