Monroe PD Reports: Snake under porch, car chase and wreck, discharging of firearms

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 25 – 31, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Persons, West Spring St./Highway 138, reference to a church group soliciting. The subjects were advised they could not solicit without a permit.
  • Dispute, George Walton Homes, reference to complainant wanting ex-girlfriend to leave residence. Other party gone when officers arrived.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78, reference to a black four-door Mercury, driver texting on Highway 78 near Mt. Vernon Road. The complainant pointed to where the vehicle was located at Walmart, unoccupied.
  • Robbery by Sudden Snatching, East Fambrough, Hillcrest Apartments, reference to complainant stating an unknown black male subject was banging on her door. When she answered he grabbed her arm, slapped her on the face, and snatched her purse. Male subject was on location and advised the subject was wearing a red baseball cap, glasses, black t-shirt and tan cargo shorts. The area was checked for the subject with negative contact, while on scene complainant advised the incident occurred approximately an hour and a half prior to her calling 911. Male subject later advised the subject could possibly be a guy by name given. The only thing taken at this time was cash and her driver’s license, complainant stated the cash amount was approximately $500-600. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property, Mountain View Dr., reference to kids sliding down a hill on the complainant’s property. Report taken.
  • Discharging Firearms in the area of Tanglewood Lane – Negative contact with any shots fired and only received one phone call regarding this complaint.
  • Suspicious Person, Baker St., reference to a black male standing near the front porch and driveway. Made contact with city worker checking water leak in area.
  • Suicide Threats, Tall Oaks Dr., reference to Benchmark Crisis Center calling regarding mother calling due to her daughter making suicide threats. Officer remained on location while employee from Benchmark spoke with mother and daughter. Benchmark employee advised he would be discussing treatment options with the family. Everything on location ok, report declined.
  • Snake, Towler St., Snake was found under the front porch. It was located to a safer environment.
  • Discharging Firearms in the area of George Walton Homes in reference to an unknown male discharging a firearm while yelling at kids in neighborhood. The male was GOA in a Burgundy Chrysler. Report taken.
  • Discharging Firearms in the area of Carver Dr. and Green St., officer was in the area at the time of the gunshots but could not determine the exact location of the shooting. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Matthews Park, male subject on location looking for a quiet place. He was advised city parks are closed after dark.
  • Suspicious Person, Lakeview Dr., reference to someone knocking on the door. The area was checked and negative contact with anyone knocking on doors.
  • Telephone Call, Bridgeport Place, reference to caller having questions about the eviction process. Went to her residence and explained the process to the other person on location.
  • Dispute, Carver Place, reference to complainant allowing “Jok” to have a key to her residence. Advised her of civil process.
  • Suicide Threats, Sweetgum Dr., male subject stated he had thoughts of harming himself. He was transported to Piedmont by EMS per his request.
  • Civil Matter, GW Carver Dr., reference to complainant wanting to retrieve items from residence, made contact with female at the residence, complainant was able to retrieve property without incident. Everything on location ok
  • Suspicious Vehicles, Highland Creek Club House. Two unoccupied vehicles on locations. Tag # given
  • Stolen Vehicle, Bryant Rd., complainant last saw his vehicle at this address between 2300 and 2330 hours last date.  Complainant said the vehicle was left unlock with keys in it. Complainant wallet was also in the vehicle.  Complainant said a black male entered his yard yesterday asking about work and said he just got out of jail and unsure if there was any correlation.  Complainant truck is a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado-Pearl White Crew Cab.  Tried getting OnStar to locate the vehicle but OnStar for this vehicle would have to be activated from inside the vehicle.  Asked the jail for a list of black inmates released yesterday and was advised they did not know how to do that. Vehicle placed on GCIC by dispatch and advised CID.  Complainant said their other car was entered but nothing was missing. Complainant father’s truck on Bryant Rd was entered but nothing taken.
  • Welfare Check, East Marable St., reference to female subject has not been seen since Thursday. She was transported by EMS Thursday morning for a mental evaluation and stomach pains and was later seen by MPD at the ER. Confirmed that female subject is in Summit Ridge and is ok. All Ok.
  • Theft, Ridge Rd, Skyline Apts., reference to a theft of a PlayStation 4. Met with complainant who advised she is unsure if the item was stolen or just lost. However, she wished to report the item as missing in an attempt to recover it. All Ok
  • Domestic, West Vine St., reference to complainant being upset due to neighbor possibly flirting with her husband. Situation mediated. All Ok
  • Dispute, Matthews Park, reference to pavilions being reserved.  Complainant was not on location.  Family members advised all was ok.
  • Animal Complaint-Vicious, Knight St., Pit Bull chasing subjects and other animals. Made contact with the owner on Lawrence St.  The dog is a boxer/Labrador mix and jumped the fence. Owner advised dog is current on vaccines and she would have her husband repair the fence.  Dog does not appear vicious but does appear fearful.
  • Agency Assist, Vine St./Alcovy St., Walton County Sheriff’s Office car chase with stolen vehicle out of Newton County.  Vehicle crashed at Vine and Alcovy.  Light skin black male ran on foot from the vehicle.
  • Meet With, Tall Oaks Lane, meet with complainant about questions of eviction. All ok.
  • Subject with a Gun, Hickory Dr., met with subject matching that description but he did not have a weapon.  Subjects were grilling.  Possibly a spatula.  All 1ok.
  • Dispute, Pierce St., reference to daughter causing a disturbance in the home and causing a bleeding cut to herself in the process. Mother wished for her daughter to go to the ER for evaluation. Daughter left on foot and was located at Hammond Park. She was transported to Piedmont Walton without incident and turned over to medical staff. Report Taken
  • Dispute, SunTrust, male and female disputing got into a white four door passenger car and left towards the Chick-fil-a exit.  Unknown direction of travel.  Negative contact.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Fawnfield Dr. mother stated that her son left the house after an argument. Child has since returned and all ok.
  • Suicide Attempt, Sweet Gum Dr., reference to male subject taking approximately 15 Benadryl.  He was transported by EMS to the hospital.  All ok.
  • Meet With, Green St., reference to complainant calling because she thinks her Neighbor is looking at her house from his house. I advised complainant that it was not illegal for him to look at her house. I also advised her to only call 911 if there is an actual emergency or a real need for police assistance.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 78E.  Caller advised of a tractor tailor was leaking nitrogen. Made contact with the tractor tailor, driver advised that I was normal, and the gas was vapors due to the different in temperature. All ok.
  • Discharging Firearms in the area of Lacy Street. Officer was in the area at the time of the call and did not hear anything.
  • Follow Up, GW Carver Dr., reference to a vehicle on location that was involved in a “shots fired” call on previous date.  Observed a vehicle matching the description parked in the area.  Came back to an apartment in the area.  All appeared ok
  • Suspicious Person, Heritage Ridge, reference to two males knocking on doors selling books. Made contact with male subject who had a valid peddler permit though the City. Male subject was advised to finish it up for the night due to it being late.
  • Domestic Dispute, Launius Ave., between female subject and her boyfriend Mr. Cara Billings. Mr. Billings was arrested for FV Battery and Cruelty to children 3rd Degree.
  • Attempted Burglary, East Marable St., complainant advised she heard what appeared to be someone trying to get in her back door. Everything appeared 10-4.  No signs of anyone trying to make entry.
  • Suspicious Person, Plaza Dr., Anonymous caller advised that his mother observed a black male wearing a mask in the area.  Advised she was concerned he was trying to break into cars.  Officers patrolled the area and did not observe the male.  Also patrolled the complex on foot and did not observe any vehicles that appeared to have been gone through.
  • Assault, West Spring St. Complainant advised that a subject that works at Elite Storage struck her in the face. She wanted to meet in front of the business. Officers checked the area twice and dispatch attempted to make contact with the caller twice. Negative contact with caller
