Monroe PD Reports: Son encounters burglar on staircase while mother at church

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 9 – 15, 2018. Due to the length, the report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Person Colley St., Male subject seen on the front porch knocking. When homeowner turned on the light subject fled. Checked the area with negative contact.
  • Burglary-In Progress East Church St, Mother who was at a prayer meeting, received a call from her son who said he encountered a young black male juvenile in all black with a flashlight coming up the stairs. Mother said two handguns were taken: Glock 19 black w/blue rail and white accent letters and Glock 380 Gray/Teal.  Once Serial Numbers are obtained mother will advise. Units canvased the area with negative contact. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Charlotte Rowell and Highway 78 reference to a White Nissan Altima failing to maintain lane. Negative contact with the vehicle. 
  • Suspicious Person at 418 Plaza Dr. Caller advised a male wearing all black was walking around. Searched the area with no contact.
  • Warrant Served at the Morgan County Jail reference to picking up inmate, Tanquris Wright, on a city of Monroe Probation Violation warrant. Fingerprinted at Monroe PD and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Carwood Dr. Complainant stated that a red and white dirt bike driven by a black male was driving up and down the road. Made contact with male who was driving said bike. Male was told not to drive on the road and returned home.
  • Suspicious Vehicles West Spring Street/Highway 138, Green Mustang on a trailer lost a tire striking Vehicle 2.  Negative contact with Vehicle 1.  Vehicle 2 requested a report.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Highway 138 & West Spring St., reference to a Grey Toyota Camry doing a U-turn on Highway 138 and almost causing an accident.  Made contact with the vehicle at Walton Fitness, and the driver exiting the vehicle. Elderly female stated she saw a female walking with a gas can on Highway 138 and turned around to check on her. Driver warned on manner of driving. 
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 138 toward Monroe city limits in reference to a red Chevy Impala speeding.  GSP stopped the vehicle prior to entering city limits. 
  • Arrest 226 Alcovy St., William Fugate charged with Parole Violation.
  • EMS Assist Harris St.  dispute between family during an EMS call, situation was mediated. 
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest. Lashana Riden passed officer on Sorrells St. Officer ran tag through GCIC/NCIC and it returned showing the registered owner as WANTED. Officer could visually affirm the driver was the owner. Vehicle was stopped, and Warrant was confirmed through Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office. Transported to the WCSO Jail for Gwinnett pick up.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Walker Dr., reference to a truck blocking her driveway.  Made contact with the owner of the disabled truck needing it jumped off.  Vehicle drove away ok. 
  • Traffic Stop South Madison Avenue/East Church St., Kersty Kevenou cited for failing to stop at stop sign and possession of marijuana.
  • 911 Hang Up Great Oaks.  While en route dispatch advised it is in reference to a med call with a 90-year-old female. Made contact with staff on location who advised female was requesting to go to the hospital. The phone disconnected when they called. Turned over to EMS.
  • Dispute Magnolia Terrace, reference to father coming to the home of his child’s mother after she tells him not to. Subject gone when officers arrived.
  • Warrants on New Lacy Street Near Wall Street. Checked with Relatives of wanted subject about his location due to Warrants from Walton County. Advised he was locked up in Barrow and confirmed.
  • Stranded Motorist on 138 near Chick-Fil-A, reference to tractor Trailer unable to move due to traffic, Truck was assisted out of traffic.
  • Follow Up Colley Street.  Home owners requested extra patrol in reference to a suspicious male being on location earlier this date.
  • Suspicious Person Salamandra’s, Anonymous complainant stated an elderly white male was intoxicated and attempting to get into his vehicle. Restaurant staff provided the subject a ride home prior to Officer’s arrival.
  • Fraud East Church Street.  Met with complainant who advised his debit card had been compromised and money was being withdrawn from his account. Spoke with personnel at the store who advised the only way to withdraw money was using the ATM.  Report taken.
  • Noise Complaint North Madison Ave., reference to teenagers revving their engines. Made contact with the group who advised they were leaving.
  • Dispute Davis St., reference to subjects arguing.  Male was intoxicated upon Officers arrival.  Verbal dispute only.  Female was taken to a family member’s house for the night. No crime took place. Report taken
  • Crowd/Dispute Ofc. Observed a small crowd of people on the corner of Harris Street and Davis Street beginning to dispute. The crowd was dispersed.
  • Dispute Davis Street. Complainant called in reference to wanting his brother in law to leave the residence. All occupants had been drinking.  Spoke to the brother in law who stated he didn’t want to leave his sister’s house.  Complainant was advised of the proper steps for eviction.  All ok.
  • Fight Camptown Apartments. Third party caller advised there was a fight in the apartment complex. Was given the information by her granddaughter. Negative contact.
  • Found Property South Madison Avenue/Felker Park, while on patrol Officer observed a back pack in the middle of the roadway. It was determined to belong to a female juvenile subject from Monroe Area High School. Among miscellaneous contents were two laptops from Monroe Area High. All items secured in evidence for safekeeping till the owner could be contacted.
  • Traffic Stop South Madison Ave./Davis St., Officer observed a gold SUV severely failing to maintain lane. Officer conducted traffic stop and the suspected fled vehicle and wrecked on Towler St. Maximillian White was apprehended after a brief foot chase. White is charged with DUI less safe, Failure to maintain, Fleeing, interference with government property, driving while license suspended, Reckless Driving.
  • Suspicious Person Mill Stone Bluff. Subject on location picking up cans in the neighborhood. All was ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring Street – Walmart. Subject was sleeping in his vehicle. Subject stated his car broke down and he is waiting on a friend.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at West Marable, reference to an abandoned vehicle on location.  Wanted/stolen check was negative.  Property management was advised of proper way to remove the vehicle.
  • Animal Complaint at Alcovy Street and Ammons Bridge. Located a small brown dog. Dog was taken to animal control.
  • Fraud, Highway 78 – Walton Truck Stop. Manager advised an unknown truck driver bought $386 work of fuel on a fraudulent account. Report declined
