Monroe PD Reports: Stray bullet hits woman in the head

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 8 – 15, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split in four parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Domestic at Davis Street – Female wanted officers to stand by while she retrieved personal belongings.  The situation was mediated.
  • Theft West Spring Street – Elite Storage- complainant had $735 stolen from wallet in bathroom.
  • Stolen Vehicle, West Spring Street – Walmart in reference to complainant misplacing where she parked her vehicle.  Located the vehicle in the parking lot where they parked it.
  • Dispute Lacy St., reference to female being on location causing a disturbance. Female stated she wanted to go to the hospital to be checked out. Female was turned over to EMS and transported to Clearview. Everything on scene ok.
  • Citizen Assist, West Spring Street – Clearview in reference to female being released for Clearview, she was walking in the roadway on East Spring Street. Female was transported to her residence located at Lacy Street without incident.
  • Suicide Threats at Lacy St., reference to female not being able to get into the residence, she told the 911 dispatcher she needed an officer to help her get the door open or she was going to kill herself. Made contact with female and she advised she only said she was going to harm herself, so she could get inside the residence, the door was opened, and female went inside. She did not want to go to the hospital for evaluation.  Everything on location ok.
  • Domestic at Lacy St., reference to Melissa Grey hitting a female.  Melissa Grey was arrested for Simple Battery and turned over to Walton County Jail.
  • Meet with Officer, Plaza Trace, reference to complainant having questions about a subject she evicted from her apartment.  complainant wanted to know what to do if subject returns after being evicted.  She was also concerned about the small child with subject and requested a welfare check on Reed Way, where subject may be staying.  Complainant was provided information on what to do if subject returns, and Officer had negative contact with anyone on Reed Way.
  • Fraud, S Broad St. Spoke with complainant who stated a male was trying to cash a fake money order. Male was gone prior to arrival and was not able to cash said check at this time.
  • Warrant Attempt, Green St. Officers were en route to serve a warrant on Pascal Gaither at the above address. Officers made contact with Gaither on Green St at Perry St. Gaither was taken into custody and finger printed at MPD. Gaither was transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Transport Arrested, Double Springs Church Road (Monroe Area High School). Officer transported officer’s arrest, Kristian Murray, from Monroe Area High School to the Monroe Police Department to be fingerprinted.  Murray was then transported to the Walton County Jail and released to jail staff without incident.
  • Damage to Property, West Spring Street (Walmart).  The complainant advised her driver’s door blew open with the wind and made contact with the vehicle next door.  Contact made with the other party, and report taken.
  • Damage to property, Storehouse Court, complainant said she returned home today and found three windows broken.  Complainant said she was last here Monday at approx.. 1700-1800 hours. Report Taken.
  • Suspicious Activity, Towler St., complainant advised he was a former Dekalb County Deputy and noticed a truck passing through Camptowne today acting very suspicious and just wanted to let complainant know for extra patrol. All ok.
  • Area Check, Woodland Road in reference to a unknown caller stating he observed a female in a pink shirt walking around the residence with a firearm. Officers checked the area with negative contact.
  • Dispute, Mill Stone Bluff Apartment, dispute between kids and adults.  Complainant upset that other kids under the age of 6 are trying to fight her child that is 6.  Spoke to all party’s situation mediated.
  • Dispute, Towler Street Apartment, reference to male and female subjects.  Female upset because she was called slow.  She wanted the male to stay away from her.  Spoke to the male and explained to him to stay away.  Situation mediated.
  • Dispute, East Washington St., James Monroe Homes Apartment, reference to complainant having a issues with an unknown female.  Advised to contact back if she returns to ID her and criminal trespass her from the housing complex.
  • Domestic, Davis St., complainant wanted assistance getting her belongings from Davis Street.  Complainant and another subject had a verbal dispute prior to Officer arrival.  Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop, Hwy 78 east and Aycock Ave. Vehicle stopped for traffic violation the driver was cited and released after denying consent to search. The passenger Jason Rewis was arrested for a Violation of Probation warrant out of Clark County. Officer met with ACC and Jason was turned over to them.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St., reference to a silver Mercury Mountaineer.  Vehicle was all over the roadway reported by passerby.  Vehicle had no insurance and was impounded driver was not impaired.
  • Meet with Officer, Sherwood Dr., complainant called in reference to someone calling his phone advising him that he stole money from a bank in Texas.  Complainant was advised it was a scam and to contact his phone provider to get the number blocked.  All ok.
  • 911 hang Up, Hwy 78 in reference to an employee calling because a truck driver was refusing to move his vehicle. The vehicle was moved.
  • Suicide Threats, East Marable St., reference to 15-year-old calling stating she wanted to speak with someone in reference to her wanting to harm herself.  Caller was given a ride to Clearview
  • Traffic Stop, Charolette Rowel and North Broad. Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle and after a brief chase Timothy Harris was tased and apprehended for multiple traffic charges and misdemeanor possession of Marijuana. Timothy also had warrants out of Winder P.D.
  • Assist Motorist, South Madison Avenue/Atha Street.  Stood by with occupants while waiting on tow truck.  Transported one occupant to towing company.
  • Damage to Property, South Madison Ave., complainant said a low hanging wire got wrapped around her pull hooks on the front of her truck causing some scratches to occur on the front passenger bumper side of her truck.  Report taken.
  • Meet with Officer, W Spring St., complainant on location and needing a ride to Jack Peters Store. Ride was given after complainant being discharged from the ER.
  • Follow Up, West Spring St., reference to speaking with complainant of case #.  Complainant stated she has not received further information about having her vehicle repaired.  Officer advised the option of civil court.
  • Suspicious Person, Pine Park Street/Davis St., flagged down by Walton County Public Works saying female was asking for money.  Made contact with female and she was advised to go home. All ok
  • Suspicious Vehicle, S Madison Av. Grey passenger car on location unoccupied and horn blaring. Attempted to make contact with owner with negative results
  • Domestic, North Broad St., complainant said her child’s father stole $5000 cash from her then pulled a gun on her and threatened to kill her over the money.  BOLO issued on tag # given that child’s father was driving.  Possibly armed with a gun and going to purchase another gun.  Not enough evidence to pursue charges at this time.  Report Taken.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood, complainant advised a named subject had been starting rumors about her 15 YOA juvenile. She was advised of remedies.
  • Civil Issue, Tanglewood Dr., two subjects disputing over property. Situation was mediated.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78 East from Highway 138 in reference to a Red Ford F150 possibly speeding.  Negative contact with the vehicle.
  • Gunshot, Sorrells St., upon arrival female subject was sitting outside with towel held to her head. Subject was shot one time above the eye and appeared to have a through and through GSW. Subject did not see who shot her nor where it came from.  Incident occurred behind apartment.
  • Inmate Transport, Alcovy Street.  Lesley Clark served with a Probation Violation warrant and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Welfare Check, W Spring St., Morgan Co requested a check on male and female in reference to an incident occurring in Morgan County. Negative contact.
  • Civil Matter, East Church St., reference to the store clerk asking a subject that took $2.00 worth of candy earlier this date could pay for the items next time he came to the store.  I advised he could handle it civilly if he wished.
  • Illegal dumping at The Market, named male subject was dumping trash illegally on security cameras. Made contact with his mother on Harvest Ln and advised her that he is not to dump trash at that location. Male subject was not on location to receive a criminal trespass notification.
  • EMS Assist, Roosevelt St., reference to a unconscious person that’s not breathing. Female subject stated she was struck by named male subject and fell on her back. Female subject declined transport to Clearview, declined report, and declined to press charges. She was advised of civil remedies and instructed to call 911 if male subject returned.
  • Burglary, Davis St., reference to the back door being kicked in.  Complainant came home to his back door being kicked in.  Believes named female is the suspect.
  • Hit and Run, Walmart. Two vehicles no injuries vehicle 1 fled the scene. Driver 2 was not able to provide any suspect vehicle information. Report taken.
  • Hit and Run, Applebee’s, complainant stated she observed a white truck rub against a white Toyota car, then move to another parking space. Contact made with drivers of both vehicles, report taken.
  • Threats, North View Dr., complainant advised that her ex-boyfriend came over earlier this date and got upset she did not want to be with him.  He advised he would be back.  She took this as a threat due to him having weapons.  Report taken.
  • 911 Hang Up, Hardee’s. Employees advised there was a dispute about a money transaction with a customer. Second party was GOA. Employees advised that everything was ok.
  • Child Molestation, King St., mother stated she was informed her 4-year-old daughter was seen on the playground with her pants down sitting on the lap of a teenager, then left crying. Male subject was detained near the scene. Turned over to CID.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Bridgeport Place/Bridgeport Ln. 5-year-old juvenile called 911 to report kids being mean to him. Upon officer arrival juvenile could not be located. Phase 2 area checked with negative contact.
  • Domestic Dispute, Creekview Dr., male and female subjects were disputing over money. Male subject was GOA upon arrival. Mediation provided no physical violence occurred. Documentation report taken.
  • Dispute, Chestnut Lane, complainant called in reference to wanting named male subject to leave and to give her the key to the residence.  Male subject was GOA.  Complainant was advised of the eviction process and TPO.
  • Harassment, Clearview, Anonymous female stated she was being harassed by Clearview staff, she would not provide any information to dispatchers. Contacted Clearview and was advised they were not having any issues with a female patient.
  • Follow Up, King St., officer attempted to make contact with mother from above call due to her not taking detective calls, and also not taking her daughter to the hospital to be examined for the prior Child Molestation call. Officer could not get anyone to the door.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Officer was in the area of East Marable and Union Square.  Observed a vehicle park in the roadway.  Driver of the vehicle was identified as Rober Griffith Jr.  Mr. Griffith had an active warrant for probation violation out of WCSO.  Mr. Griffith was taken into custody.
  • Meet With officer at the WCSO, reference to complainant wanting to speak with an officer in reference to her and her boyfriend being involved in an argument. Complainant pulled over at the Sheriff’s Office and her boyfriend drove off in her vehicle a 2011 Blue Nissan Maxima. Complainant denied a report after officers offered to complete one. Complainant also did not wish to report the vehicle as stolen. An Overdue motorist was placed on the vehicle. Incident document
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr., complainant advised named subject forced his way into her residence during a dispute and caused damage to the front door.  Warrant to be taken for criminal trespass.  Report Taken
  • Burglary Attempt, Springdale Rd., complainant stated an unknown white male wearing a black hoodie entered her husband’s truck. No items appeared to have been taken, report taken.
  • Search Warrant, King St., CID units and officer conducted a search warrant for the juvenile victim of the earlier child molestation call due to the child’s mother not responding to CID’s numerous attempts to contact her.
