Monroe PD Reports: Vehicle unable to be repossessed due to driver asleep in it

The Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period April 27 to May 3, 2018. Due to the length, this has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious person/Welfare check, W. Vine St. Lot 4A.  Made contact with subject on location who advised all was ok.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., reference to a woman holding a sign asking for money.  Made contact with female who stated she was from Athens Ga. and needed money for a place to stay tonight.  Had negative contact with rep. from FISH.  Officer attempted to pay for a hotel room for female, but she stated she would call a friend from Athens.  All ok.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr., spoke with complainant who stated that her brother was on location causing problems. The brother was upset because no one would give him money for drugs. The brother was gone on arrival conducted an area check but was unable to locate.
  • Civil Issue, South Side Mobile Home Park, reference to son calling because his dad changed the locks on his trailer. His dad owns the trailer and allows his son to live there. The eviction Process was explained to the father.
  • Meet with Officer, Baker St., caller saw on Facebook an old video of a woman hitting a child. This video is a few years old and happened out of state. I advised caller the woman was charged.Dispute, Plaza Dr., reference to complainant not wanting to pay towing company for towing his vehicle. The vehicle was towed due to a call the county worked and he had AAA en-route.  The Deputy called for a tow truck and that towing company arrived first. Complainant and the tow truck driver came to an agreement prior to officer’s arrival.
  • Dispute, N Broad St., Employee stated a male was inside the store and was drunk/high, asking people for money. Male left prior to arrival.
  • Dispute, Walton Rd, upon arrival I spoke with two males and one female. They were talking about money and paying each other. I asked who called and how I could help. They ignored me and continued talking. After a few moments I then asked if I was needed or if someone was going to tell me why I was there. They stated they worked out their difference and police were not needed.
  • Mental Health, Walker Dr., male subject on location experiencing paranoid delusions due to schizophrenia. Male subject transported to Piedmont Walton for treatment.
  • Domestic Dispute, Perry St., complainant stated kids were playing in her back yard. She told them to leave and they refused. Kids were gone on arrival.
  • Suspicious Person Hwy 78 West Bound at Unisa Drive.in reference to a medical vehicle tailgating. The area was checked with negative contact. 
  • Suspicious Persons, Norris St., reference to a group of people standing beside a vehicle using illicit drugs. An area check was conducted with negative contact.
  • Disturbing the Peace, West Marable/Nowell St., reference to multiple subjects in the roadway being loud. Officer patrolled area with negative contact.
  • Agency Assist, White Oak Dr., Newton Co. SO requested contact be made on White Oak Dr., reference a female subject named given at a marathon gas station. Contact made with her husband as he was leaving to get his wife.
  • Burglary in Progress, Tanglewood Dr., complainant stated an unknown subject was attempting to enter her residence, contact made with male subject. All okay, subject was the father of her youngest child and she was unaware he was coming over.
  • Follow up, Turner St., spoke to Granddad about Granddaughter who had pink hair who is a suspect for shoplifting and crash at Walmart. Supplement to be added.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood Dr., complainant says that named male subject is harassing him from across the street by yelling at him. Checked the area found his vehicle a Gray Hyundai Accent but negative contact with owner requested extra patrol due to this being an ongoing issue.
  • Criminal Trespass, South Broad St., complainant who now manages Southside mobile home park, says that a man named is done damage to his property and wants him served with a criminal trespass warning. Attempted to make contact with man on South Broad St. but negative contact.
  • Fraud, West Spring St., complainant advised that a former tenant fraudulently activated $3,500 work of Marathon gas cards on the last day of his eviction. 
  • Suicide Attempt, Harvest Ln., male subject  possible overdose and drinking alcohol heavily. Turned over to EMS
  • Scam, Monroe PD, complainant received check in the mail for an item he sold on Facebook.  The check was in the amount of $1130.55.  Complainant did not deposit the check and just wanted it destroyed.
  • Theft, Monroe PD, complainant reported his AK-47 was stolen out of his car over the weekend on King St.  Report taken and entered on GCIC.
  • Domestic Dispute, Tall Oaks Lane, complainant requested an area check in reference to her child’s father coming to her residence tonight.
  • Dispute, Pannell Rd., male subject causing a disturbance in neighbor’s yards.  Subject was extremely intoxicated.  Subject also had head injuries from an unknown source.  EMS was notified, and they transported him to the hospital. 
  • Fight, Harris St., Anonymous complainant stated 20-30 subjects fighting in the street. Prior to arrival all subjects fled on foot.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, South Broad St/East Church St., complainant stated a semi-truck was failing to maintain lane. Negative contact. BOLO sent to WCSO.
  • Discharge of Firearms, Walton Mills shell casing were located behind Old Mill Point and turned into evidence.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 138/West Spring St., reference to a truck with high beams refusing to pass complainant, negative contact with either vehicle.
  • Meet with Officer, Piedmont Walton, Female caller stated she was being mistreated by staff and they would not turn the heat down, while en route Piedmont staff called and notified dispatch the caller was a surgical patient coming out of anesthesia and was confused. All okay.
  • Welfare Check, Woodland Rd., reference to checking on 4-year-old child.  The child was not on location.  He was with his father for the night.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Walmart, reference to a repo driver attempting to recover a vehicle.  Stated the owner is asleep in the vehicle.
  • Suspicious Vehicle at Chestnut Cupboard made contact with driver advised he was just talking on the phone he was sent on his way.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Hwy 78/City Limits, reference to a white SUV failing to maintain lane.  Officer made contact with the vehicle and observed the vehicle fail to maintain lane.  A traffic stop was initiated, and it was determined that the driver was not under the influence.
  • Prowler, Mill Stone Bluff., Made contact with caller who stated she heard someone knocking on her front door. She did not see who it was, conducted an area check and was unable to locate.
  • Suspicious Person, at the Mill on South Madison Ave., male subject was sent on his way
  • Prowler, Radford St., reference to caller calling because she heard a noise in the woods. The area was checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute, East Washington St., female subject disputing with her home care nurse. Situation mediated.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78 West, reference to a white Ford Fusion driving reckless. Officer stopped the vehicle on Highway 138. All ok.
  • Mental health subject, West Spring St., reference to female subject acting strange. Officer spoke with subject who advised she was fine. She advised she just wanted answers from the Doctor in regard to her health.
  • Civil Issue, South Broad St., Al Savage wants to gain access to the back of the church but cannot due to a fence that has been put up. Officers had negative contact with land owner.
  • Theft Report, Turner St., complainant advised he was cutting grass last date on Lacy St. and noticed today that someone had stolen his trailer tag. Tag# will be placed onto GCIC. Report Taken.
  • Theft, Plaza Dr., Arnold Properties, reference to the theft of tools. Report taken.
  • Dispute, Baron Dr., reference to subjects disputing in the area. Officers had negative contact.
  • Suspicious Person, East Spring St. near Mr. Quicks, reference to an unknown black male looking around vehicles.
  • Meet with Officer at MPD, reference to complainant having questions about named subject hanging around her residence. Officer spoke with subject and advised him to stay away from complainant’s residence.
  • Damage to Property, South Broad St., complainant advised a rock flew from a lawnmower and struck her vehicle. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to a white female holding a sign soliciting for money. Subject gone upon officer arrival
  • Suspicious Person in the area of Harris St./Jack Peters store. caller advised she saw named subject in the area looking in the grass for suspected gun from last date. Officers checked the area on foot with negative findings. Subject was gone when officers.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Broad St., near Scoops, reference to a vehicle with a non-functioning brake light. Officer had negative contact.
