Be an Art Ambassador … In memory of Bobbie Austin
It is with much sadness that we have to pass on the news that our beloved Bobbie passed away on Sunday, August 2.Bobbie was a force of nature who loved peanut butter and chocolate … and art. She almost single-handedly kept this place going for years — teaching drawing to children and sculpture and painting to adults. She served on our Board of Directors in years past and while she was not a “founder”, she was involved in the early years of the guild. She was a gifted artist who did not put up with nonsense and extraneous matters. She would often say, “I just want to teach!” She wanted MWCA to open to all, to be a strong presence in our community and to be greatly used. She was a terrific teacher and advocate for the arts. Many in our community will remember being taught ART by Bobbie. She will be missed. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to us. Checks can be mailed to the Monroe-Walton Art Center, PO BOX 125, Monroe, GA 30655 or you can donate any amount in her name online. All funds will be used to further our Art Education programming here at MWCA.Online donations can be made here in memory of Bobbie.

Please keep her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Volunteers Needed

If you’re wondering how YOU can help support local art, here’s a couple of volunteer opportunities in support of our Regional Show. By the way, I’m hearing from many artists who are thrilled that we are hosting a “real” in-person show.August 21-22
We will have drop-off for accepted pieces into the regional show on Friday – Saturday August 21-22 from 11 am – 5 pm. We need a couple of volunteers to man the intake table through the day, woking in shifts of your choosing, of course.August 24
We will hang the show Monday, August 24. This usually takes 3-4 hours at most, depend on how many helpers we have. Four to six volunteers would be great. If you are interested (no experience needed) let me know if you’re available for the intake and/or the hanging and what hours if so? How much time you spend is up to you – anything between an hour to three hours is fine.Email hope@monroeartguild.org if you can help.We have 25 artists so far who have entered the show. We have another week before the deadline closes on 8/15. I’m hoping to have at least 30-40 artists enter.THANK YOU!!

Online Volunteer Survey
SURVEY can be found HEREAs our area’s only non-profit community arts center, we depend on volunteers to help us in BIG ways to fulfill our two-fold mission of:
1) creating a thriving arts community through education, outreach and opportunities to ensure all people in Walton County have access to the many benefits of the arts
and
2)  supporting the vital work of local artists and crafts people in Walton County, creating a beautiful and vibrant community.

Volunteers are much needed and very appreciated!  If you have volunteered in the past, we hope you know how crucial your contribution is.  We love our volunteers!

We are seeking to build our committees that support our on-going goals.  If you are interested in helping us (or continuing to help us) with the important work of sharing the beauty and healing nature of art, please consider filling out the survey and returning it to us.  We will funnel your survey, reflecting your interests, to the appropriate committee(s).

Volunteers come in at their convenience.  We will do our best to match you to duties that uses your talents & interests, gives your purpose & joy and will introduce you to new friends!

Please take a look and consider filling out this SUPER SHORT (four questions!) interest survey.  This does not commit you to anything, but will give you a chance to learn about ways you can help.   And you can choose, of course, when you are ready to get involved.
