Monroe area woman arrested in 2012 murder of her husband

Thompson, GA. The Georgia Bureau of investigation reported the arrest of a Walton County woman in the November 2012 death of her former husband.

According to a press release from the GBI, the Walton County Sheriff’s Office executed a murder warrant on Kaye Ivie Willoughby, 61, taking her into custody on charges of murder in the death of her husband, Ronald Alton Willoughby, of Thompson. Willoughby was 62 at the time of his death. The Thompson Police Department had called the GBI in at that time to assist in the investigation. Willoughby died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.

On Tuesday, June 13, 2017, the case was presented to a McDuffie County Grand Jury and the grand jury indicted Willoughby’s former wife, Kaye Ivie Willoughby, charging her with the murder. WCSO and GBI arrested her at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Walton County. Her address is given as 445 Wilmington Way in the Monroe area of Walton County.

She was transported to the Walton County Detention Center for later transportation to the McDuffie County Detention Center.
