The turnout wasn’t anywhere near the 800 to 1000 riders that usually participate in the American Legion Ride for America this Memorial Day, but those who did brave the rain to show their support for the fallen showed their patriotic pride during the 2018 Ride for America.

U.S. Rep. Jody Hice as Grand Marshal led the group of riders up Highway 78 to Madison for the 20th Annual Ride for America on May 28. There was no cost to riders this year because of the 20th anniversary of the event, but donation were accepted.

The funds raised by this event help support the Legacy Fund, a scholarship for children of the fallen. The ride is organized by the American Legion Riders, headed up by Legion rider and co-founder of the event, Stan Mauldin. There also were people standing out in the rain to cheer on the riders as they passed by.
