MPD Report: 12-year-old complains her mother spanked her with a belt

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period April 4 – 10, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Stolen Property – W. Creek Circle in reference to seeing stolen bicycle being ridden by a juvenile. Information added to the original report.
  • Vehicle accident/Person hit – Michael Etchison Rd at Overlook Crest. Pedestrian flown to Atlanta Medical, Turned over to Georgia State Patrol.
  • Juvenile problem -Tall Oaks E.; 12-year-old reported her mother spanked her with a belt. The investigation determined it to be legal corporal punishment.
  • Domestic dispute – Green St; Complainant reported someone, possibly an “ex-girlfriend,” came to his residence and either tried to break the window or came inside the residence. Complainant never actually saw anyone and was highly intoxicated.
  • Agency Assist – Valero East Spring Street in reference to a County Deputy asking for assistance 10-18.  Upon Officer’s arrival, everything was 10-4 and it was in reference to possible shoplifting.  A subject was served a criminal trespass warning.
  • Vehicle Accident w/Injuries – Charlotte Rowell Blvd and Double Springs Church Rd. Connector. Two vehicles with injuries. No one was transported. Driver #1 cited for failure to yield while turning left. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Bold Springs Ave. Two females were having a verbal dispute. Both left the residence. Report Taken.
  • Burglary Report – Douglas St. Maintenance man stated someone entered the vacant residence between last Wednesday and this date and caused a felony amount of damage inside. Report taken.
  • Weapons Call – Sorrells St. at Booth Dr. Complainant advised subject pulled a weapon on him and accused him of spreading rumors. Complainant advised he just got out of prison and had not spoken to anyone. Report taken.
  • Follow Up – Douglas St. The manager for the location wanted an officer to return and attempt to lift prints. Prints were lifted and submitted into evidence.
  • Meet with Officer – at the Mill. Complainant from call wanted to meet in reference to informing Officer that this is an everyday occurrence with the juveniles in the road.
  • Shoplifting – S. Broad St. – John’s Supermarket. Subject was arrested for shoplifting. He was fingerprinted and released.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. at the Monroe Motor Inn – Two subjects wanted police to stand by while they split up their belongings.
  • Suspicious vehicle – In the area of Colquitt Street. A female subject was found parked at the end of the dead-end street. The odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle. Upon probable cause search, the marijuana was located. She released on copy of citation after she was printed.
  • Agency Assist – Highway 78 at Charlotte Rowell. Walton County Sheriffs’ Office had a subject run from a traffic stop. The subject was found and arrested by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
