MPD Report: Felony shoplifting, public drunk and traffic stops net drug arrests

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 14 – 21, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop – W. Spring St. – David Mitchell stopped for traffic violation.  A probable cause search found David to be in possession of marijuana and methamphetamine. The front seat passenger, Tiffany Mathis, was arrested after she was recorded on video throwing a meth pipe out of the window into the car wash bay.  Mr. Mitchell was arrested for possession of a schedule II narcotic and possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce. Mrs. Mathis was arrested for possession of a schedule II narcotic. They were both turned over to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Warrant Service – Supplemental added to the original report. Met with Winder PD in reference to a transport service. I Transported Marcus Blades to Walton County jail for felony warrants.
  • Intoxicated Person – S. Madison / Stokes St. – Subject was arrested for Public Drunk.  He was the subject officers were looking for earlier this date.
  • Traffic Stop – Hwy. 78 E and W. Spring St. Stopped Lili Yin for speeding 74mph in 55mph zone. Yin has a suspended license and was wanted out of 2 counties for driving while suspended. She was printed, Cited and turned over to Barrow County SO.
  • Illegal Drugs – E. Spring St.- In reference to Heather Matts asleep behind the wheel in the parking lot. A search conducted on a vehicle and two Ambien pills located with no prescription. Matts arrested and charged with possession of schedule IV narcotics.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. at Walmart. Five white males arrested for shoplifting, disorderly conduct and drug possession charges.
  • Assault – Tanglewood Dr. – In reference to complainant claiming to be assaulted by subject on Turner Street. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop – N. Madison Ave and Bold Springs Ave. A green Honda Civic was observed with a brake light out. After stopping the vehicle, the driver advised he had no valid license. Will Cunningham was taken into custody and fingerprinted at MPD and released on a copy of the citation.
  • Physical Dispute – Lawrence St. in reference to William Lacroix being struck in the face by Daniel Gonzalez during an altercation on Towler St. in the area of Camptown Gardens. Gonzalez was gone in a yellow Dodge Neon when officers arrived. Warrant To Be Taken on Gonzalez for Battery.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Marable St. – Hot Spot in reference to a subject being on location with a laceration to his face and only wearing one shoe. Subjects son-in-law Shane Foster arrived on location and stated subject suffers from dementia and stated he had been looking for him. While on the scene it was discovered Shane Foster had a warrant out of Walton County. Shane Foster was placed under arrest and transported to the Walton County Jail without incident, Report taken.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. – Walmart in reference to a W/F in a white jacket and blue hat shoplifting a felony amount of goods. Female took off towards Murphy USA then to the Marathon across the street. An area check was conducted with negative contact. Report taken.
