MPD Reports: Accidental shooting, 8-year-old given opioids, Adult/juveniles throw water balloons at cars

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents during the period May 23 – 30 June, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the second part.

  • Gunshot Wound – S. Broad St. – Trading Place & Pawn. Complainant shot in the right leg by subject via accidental discharge. The complainant was taken to Piedmont Walton. Report taken.
  • Juvenile Complainant – Tanglewood Dr. in reference to juveniles throwing water balloons at people and apartments.
  • Illegal dumping – Atha St; Complainants reported subjects have been dumping trash on the property near dumpster without permission. Mail in the trash belonged to the subject. Attempts to locate subject were unsuccessful.
  • Dispute – Felker St; Subject was disputing with a person over the quality of work he was doing on his neighbors’ roof.  The subject was intoxicated and was advised to leave the person alone.
  • Assist Agency – Vine Street at Universal Rundle. in reference to Walton County Sheriff’s Office out with juveniles trespassing.  Assisted with getting juveniles turned over to parents.
  • Juvenile Complaint – S. Broad – in reference to complaining about neighbors’ children.  Ongoing issued. Officers spoke with both sets of parents and advised remedies. All ok.
  • Welfare Check – Harris St; Subject on location fell down while intoxicated. EMS was called to check on the subject, and Officer bought him food after he refused treatment.
  • Juvenile complaint – Tanglewood Dr. Complainant advised juveniles were throwing eggs at her home. Remedies were advised.
  • Juvenile Issue – Old Mill Point in reference to kids throwing water balloons at a passing car. Area checked ok.
  • Return Call – caller reported the vehicle had returned to the area.  Area was checked again with no contact was made.  While patrolling the area the caller waved officer down and advised the car leaves just moments before the officer arrives.  Extended patrol was placed on the area.
  • Large Crowd – North Broad St. in reference to a large group gathering at Golden Pantry after Da Grand graduation party closed. Group was dispersed by officers. Store request ongoing patrols after Da Grand closes due to continuous issues.
  • Noise Complaint – in the area of Plaza Dr. Contact made with a Black SUV playing music. The subject was advised to keep the noise down. All ok
  • Damage to Property – N. Broad St. – Da Grand. The complainant stated he knows who hit his car and would take care of the damage on his own. All ok.
  • Assist Agency – S. Broad St. in the area of Trading Place. in reference to WCSO vehicle chase. The subject was out of the vehicle at gunpoint when MPD arrived and was then taken into custody.  Our officer assisted further with a Drug Recognition Expert Evaluation.
  • Suspicious Car – in the area of Hwy. 138 entering the city.  In reference to speeding Chevy Car.  Staged in area for extended period of time with no contact.
  • Transport – Henry County Sheriff’s Office reference. Chaney Kendivis was transported to the Walton County jail. All ok
  • Stolen Vehicle – Davis St. in reference to complainant reporting her black 2006 Nissan stolen. The complainant stated the vehicle was last seen in her yard around 0000 hours this date. Vehicle was listed on GCIC as stolen. Report taken.
  • Mental Person – W. Spring St. – Piedmont Walton in reference to patient running out of the hospital with a signed order. The subject later located at Home Depot and transported back to Piedmont-Walton without incident.
  • Wanted Person – Perry St. in reference to a person on location next door with no shirt on wearing black shorts. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Damage to Property – Tanglewood Dr. in reference to complaint advising a grown black male adult through a water balloon at his vehicle. The subject requested an incident report as he has eight lawns to mow in the neighborhood.
  • Theft – W. Spring St. – Taco Bell in reference to the complainant having his wallet taken after leaving it near the register. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property – Baron Dr. in reference to complainant reporting a broken window on her residence. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop / Chase on Highway 78 E. Driver of the vehicle fled into Oconee County where he stopped at the Highway 53 intersection. The subject was taken into custody without incident.
  • Child Abuse – W. Spring St. – Piedmont Walton in reference to an 8-year-old being given opioid pills by his father. was transported to Egleston by air from Piedmont Walton. Turned over to our Criminal Investigation Division.
