MPD Reports: Animal complaints include dog bites and an abandoned dog

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 4 – 10, 2019.  Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Damage to Property, East Fambrough St., reference to complainant vehicle being damaged. The vehicle a red 96 Chevy Caprice had words scratched into the hood and trunk. The windshield had also been cracked. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Wheel House Lane, complainant advised of an abandoned vehicle. She was advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Waffle House, reference to a white male on location with a box cutter. Contact made with employees first who advised there was no incident and doesn’t know who called. Known male subject was on location and all ok.
  • Theft Report, North Madison Ave., The Market, reference to a black male with a crown tattoo on his neck caught on camera stealing items from the store. He was last seen headed towards the area of Turner Street wearing a white hoodie and yellow pants.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Turner St., officer observed a gold Toyota Sequoia in front of the residence. The tag was run through GCIC and it returned stolen out of Athens/Clarke county. Officer made contact with Lummie Sharpe who advised he purchased the vehicle for $1100 from a named male subject. The vehicle was confirmed stolen and Sharpe was taken into custody. Towed the vehicle by towing company.
  • Firearm, Highway 138 headed towards the City in reference to a black Jeep with a male subject holding a handgun out the window. The vehicle turned off of Highway 138 prior to entering the City limits.
  • Welfare Check, Heritage Ridge Dr., reference to making contact with female subject. She was ok.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., J&B Food Mart, reference to a customer disputing with the clerk over money. The customer was gone when officers arrived.
  • Damage to Property, MLK JR BLVD, Four Seasons Car Wash, reference to weather-stripping torn off car at the car wash. Report Taken.
  • Animal Bite, Sorrells St., 7-year-old was bitten by a canine from Sorrells St. Apt.  Turned over to Animal Control.
  • Civil Issue, Tall Oaks East, met with complainant who advised he borrowed money from named subject and now named subject wants his money back. Complainant was explained his options.
  • Dispute, Birch St., reference to complainant stating her grandson was off of his meds again and wanting to take her vehicle. Subject was gone when officers arrived and returned her keys before he left. All ok.
  • Harassment, Rose Ison Ter., complainant stated named subject was trying to get her to violate her conditions of bond.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Ms. Caralee Staples arrested for shoplifting. Subject also had active warrants with Monroe PD and Henry County.
  • Illegal Drugs, Wheelhouse Lane, reference to subjects selling drugs from residence. Area checked and information passed on to FIT.
  • Unknown problem, Bold Spring/Turner, Anno caller advised of 30+ people fighting in the street with guns. Male subject assaulted during dispute. Report taken.
  • Fight, Arnold Point Apts., caller advised subjects back on location, area searched with negative contact.
  • Warrant Attempt, South Madison, Several Felony warrants served on Dennis Hardge. Subject attempted to evade arrest, fought with officers and was tased before being taken into custody.
  • Mental Health, Davis St., reference to subject waning to go to ER. Was taken by EMS to Piedmont/Walton.
  • EMS assist, Vine St., Conestoga MHP. Subject extremely intoxicated taken to ER by EMS.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, White Lexus ES300 failing to maintain lane.  Made contact with the driver who appeared to be okay.
  • Suspicions Vehicle, West Spring St., reference to a Honda CRV failing to maintain lane. Contact made on North Jackson, driver checked ok.
  • Mental Issues, Windsor Dr., subject now going by another name from New York, wanted a ride to the hospital to be checked out.
  • Dispute, Maple Lane, mother wanted her son evicted.  The eviction process was explained.
  • Suspicious Person, South Broad St., reference to subject’s vehicle broken down. Waiting on someone to bring transmission fluid.
  • Dispute in the area of Old Mill Point.  Area searched and contact made at 3 different homeowners/addresses, no party located, all ok.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, female subject was arrested for shoplifting. She was fingerprinted and released. Her juvenile daughter was also charged with shoplifting.
  • Suspicious Persons, Holly Hill Rd., caller advised a man and woman were walking down the road and appeared to be on 38D (drugs). Negative contact with the subjects.
  • Subject with a Gun, N Broad St., J&B Food Mart, reference to a black male on location with a gun. Officers checked the area with negative contact.
  • Welfare Check, Custom Way, reference to checking the welfare of children on location. Officers made contact with subject who was watching the children. All was ok.
  • Suspicious Subjects, West Spring St., Highway, reference to subjects taking up money. The subjects did not have a permit and were advised to leave.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 138, reference to a Hyundai failing to maintain lane. Officer made contact and verbally warned the driver. All ok.
  • Animal Complaint, Armistead Circle, reference to a canine that was attacked by another canine. The owner was advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Person, Walker Dr., reference to a male that dropped off a canine on Walker Dr. The male was GOA and Animal Control was advised of the abandoned canine.
