MPD Reports: Armed Robbery at the Hot Spot; Soap put in fountain at City Hall

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 16 – 23, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop – Davis St. @ Ash St. Subject arrested for an outstanding warrant. Driver cited for expired tag. Passenger cited for possession of marijuana. 
  • Dispute – Piedmont Walton ER. A subject on location refusing to leave. Arrested for Loitering. Turned over to jail without issue.
  • Suspicious person – Walmart. A subject on location for most of the night. Made contact she advised she was ok and that her cousin was killed by a meteor, she was advised to go home and get some sleep.
  • Property Damage – Felker St. in reference to a vehicle went off the roadway when he fell asleep. Spoke to the driver and stated when he was driving on Felker St. he hit a couch sitting next to the roadway. The subject stated he does not need a Police Report at this time.
  • Burglary – Wheel House Lane in reference to subjects who were in the house. During the investigation, four subjects were placed under arrest and were released to their parents.
  • Burglary – Plaza Dr. – forced entry of backdoor while the complainant was on vacation.
  • Burglary Report – W. Washington St. in reference to complainant reporting his residence was burglarized by the previous tenant. The complainant found some of his property.
  • Damage to Property – City Hall in reference to a white male and two white females pouring soap into the fountain over the weekend.
  • Criminal Trespass – Church St. in reference to a subject who was back on the property. The subject was placed under arrest for Criminal Trespass.
  • Domestic Dispute – Green St.: In reference to two subjects getting in to a physical altercation. One subject gone on arrival. Other subject does not wish to press charges. Report made.
  • Traffic Stop – Davis St @ Wall St; Driver arrested for driving on a suspended license. Driver fingerprinted, cited, and released from MPD.
  • 911 Hang up – W. Creek Cir.; Juvenile called 911 requesting a junior officer badge sticker. Juvenile was advised of the proper use of 911 and was provided with an MPD patch.
  • Burglary/Domestic – Birch St. Suspect with bond conditions to stay away from a person forced entry to a rear window and then fled on foot when 911 was called. K9 track did not locate the suspect. Vehicle was towed from the scene. Warrants taken for three counts of cruelty to children 3rd degree, criminal trespass, aggravated stalking, and burglary.
  • Welfare check – Cherry Hill Dr. Caller stated that he has not heard from his girlfriend since yesterday. Officer made contact with her grandfather and he advised she was not on location.
  • Warrant Attempt – Maple Ln. Attempted contact with a subject. Subject’s mother advised she will bring her to Monroe PD later today.
  • Gas drive-off – W. Spring St., Murphy USA. AssistaManagerger advised of a red Dodge pickup truck filling up gas and leaving the site without paying. Report made
  • Follow up/warrant attempt – S. Broad St., MPD. Subject arrived at the MPD and was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. Salon 360 in reference to a subject refusing to leave. The subject was gone on arrival.
  • Damage to Property/Criminal Trespass – Woodland Rd in reference to complainant finding a cigarette near his vehicle in the driveway and believed someone was on his property during the night. Vehicle was secured and no items were missing.
  • Theft in progress – W. Vine St., Conestoga. Complainant from Southside MHP advised she saw a b/f go into a vacant trailer in Conestoga. Got out with employees from the trailer removal company who advised the female had permission to be on location, all ok.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St., Walmart in reference to two black male subjects stealing merchandise. Subjects gone on arrival and no identified. Report taken
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring Street., Walmart in reference to two black female subjects caught attempting to steal merchandise. Property was recovered, subjects were gone on arrival. Report taken.
  • Theft Report – Tanglewood Drive. In reference to complainant reporting her Series 3 Rose Gold Apple watch stolen. She advised the watch was last seen at her residence located at Carver Place, on Monday 01/20/2020 at approximately 18:00 hours. The watch was discovered to be missing today at approximately 19:45 hours. The watch was added to GCIC. Report taken.
  • Armed Robbery – E. Marable Street., The Hot Spot. In reference to two black male subjects wearing bandannas over their faces and armed with handguns attempting to rob the business. The subject did not take anything from the business. They were observed on surveillance pointing the firearms at the clerk and another employee. The subjects were gone on arrival. A K9 Track was conducted. Subjects were not located. Criminal Investigation Division were notified and responded to the scene. Report taken.
  • Follow Up – Walker Dr. – Sheriffs’ Office asked if we would check on a, subject because he told his girlfriend’s mother was going to harm himself. Contact was made with the subject and his father. Subject said he was going to hurt himself and the officer advised that the subject should go to the hospital to be evaluated. Father said he would take the subject to get checked.
  • Dispute – Tall Oaks. In reference to two subjects getting in an argument over another female. During the argument, both parties received minor visible injuries to their hands. Due to not being able to identify the primary aggressor, no charges were taken. Parties separated.
  • Suspicious Person – Downtown Monroe. In reference to subject walking through downtown during closed business hours. He stated he had just left Cook Place and was in route to his residence located at Magnolia Ter. He was given a ride to his residence. All ok.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Patient in a room called due to having a mental episode. All ok.
