MPD Reports: Baby opossums rescued by passerby after mother hit by car

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period of March 28 to April 3, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Meet with Officer – S. Madison Ave. (CVS): complainant advised that a patron has made the staff uneasy with recent communication. Just wanted the MPD to be aware of it. They advised the subject might have mental issues.
  • Domestic – Double Springs Church Rd (Monroe High School); Metthe with complainant. She stated that one of her students was involved in an altercation with her brother off of Davis Street. Report Taken.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Knight St.: Mother said her 15-year-old did not go to school due to family issues and has been staying with a friend.  Advised the SRO. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person – Milledge Ave.: Complainant stated a black female sitting on her back porch. Subject walked away from Exceptional Community Service center. She was returned to the facility. All ok.
  • Injured Animal – E. Fambrough St. Dead Opossum in the roadway with opossum babies. Passerby stopped and took baby opossums home. Dead opossum was removed from roadway.
  • Domestic – Towler St.: Complainant stated she was scared of her husband of what he might do to her. She wanted him out of the residence. She was explained of the necessary steps to take through the courts. Report Taken.
  • Damage to property – Sweetgum Dr. Complainant stated sometime today that his car tire was deflated. He was very intoxicated and was unable to provide more information, report taken.
  • Burglary – Davis St; Complainant reported his residence was entered and his work clothes and laptop were taken.
  • Traffic Stop – Charlotte Rowel and Hwy 78: Subject stopped for equipment violations. Received citations for no insurance, suspended tag, updating address, and headlight requirements. Vehicle towed by Taylors, report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – East Church St.; Complainant reported subject refused to leave the store when told to do so. The subject was highly intoxicated and was harassing customers. He tried to flee, unsuccessfully, upon the sight of Officers. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and issued a criminal trespass warning for Jack Peters Grocery.
  • Assault – G.W. Carver Dr.  – Robert Mayweather Jr arrested after choking his child’s mother. WTBT for Aggravated Assault by Strangulation.
  • Assault – N. Madison Ave.  The complainant advised he was assaulted in the area of GW Carver.  This incident was not related to the previous incident.  He stated he was in an apartment when seven other males assaulted him.  Complainant did not wish to press charges and refused medical treatment.
  • Information – Reed Way Complainant on scene requesting legal information in reference to unknown number calling constantly. Was advised of remedies.
  • Damage to property – Sweetgum Dr. – Complainant stated sometime today that his car tire was deflated. He was very intoxicated and was unable to provide more information, report taken.
  • Information – Storehouse Court Complainant on scene requesting legal information in reference to her son. Was advised of remedies.
  • Theft Report – Hubbard St.  Complainant advised a subject loaned her lawnmower to a friend about a year ago, and the friend was refusing to bring it back. She was advised of remedies.
