MPD Reports: Barbershop next to police office robbed by sudden snatching

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 25 – 29, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Person w/Gun/Suicide Threats, North Midland Ave./North Broad St., reference, Brandon Sturdivant with a gun shooting in a wooded area and threatening to kill himself.  Made contact on North Midland at North Broad Street conducted a traffic stop and with assistance from Walton County Sheriff’s Office removed Sturdivant from vehicle and retrieved gun.  Sturdivant was taken into custody and transported to Piedmont Walton then to the Walton County Jail. Sturdivant charged with DUI-Alcohol Less Safe and DOC.
  • Enter Auto, Plaza Dr., reference a Grey Buick, met with complainant stated that his ex-girlfriend entered in his vehicle and took mail. He does not want to press charges or a report at this time. He was advised on the Civil process.
  • Enter Auto, Wilkins Dr., the complainant advised her Chrysler Sebring was entered sometime after 0000 hours and approximately 64 Oxycodone pills taken from the dash and a small portable CD player.
  • Dispute, Ash St., complainant stated that named female subject took her battery out of her Galaxy LG Android Phone and wanted it back. Female subject denied that claim. The complainant wanted a report made. Report taken.
  • Theft, North Broad St., male subject left the area without paying for food.  The subject was located on foot walking down Charlotte Rowell Blvd. The subject was transported back to Waffle House to pay for the meal. Bennett trespassed from the property.
  • Civil Issue, North Midland Ave., complainant was trying to retrieve her property from this location. The female subject would not open the door. The complainant was advised of the Civil Process.
  • Domestic, West Vine St., complainant wanted the named male subject to leave her residence. The complainant advised that male subject and she had an altercation. The male subject was gone whe officers arrived. Report Taken.
  • Suspicious person, Plantation Dr., subjects from last night were advising subjects were riding by their house.  All ok.
  • Theft, Milledge Ave., complainant stated that named male subject keeps coming into his business and stole several items at a time. Report Taken.
  • Juvenile Complainant, Cook St., two subjects verbally disputing.  They do not live together. Parties separated.
  • Check Area, West Vine St., female subject yelling obscenities at complainant Spoke with the subject and advised her to watch her language.
  • Theft reported at PD Lobby, the complainant reported multiple items stolen in February from his former business on Hubbard Street. Report taken.
  • Dispute, West Vine St. complainant gave the neighbor the keys to his and female subject’s vehicle. Subject wanted the keys but contact was not made with the neighbor nor complainant.
  • Theft, Plaza Dr., Package stolen from front porch area. Report taken.
  • Robbery report taken at PD Lobby. The owner of Connor’s Barbershop next to the PD was robbed by force and sudden snatching and the suspect fled in a brown Nissan passenger car down East Washington Street.
  • Meet with Officer, Nowell St., reference to complainant wanting to police to stand by while she collected her belongings from her father’s residence. complainant left with her Mother. all ok.
  • Shoplifting, Chestnut Gas Station, Owner stated that a male came inside and stole a hat. He did not want a report just wanted the hat back. Conducted an area check no contact.
  • Traffic Stop, Ahmad Lumpkin was stopped for Failure to maintaining Lane, He was arrested for Driving while license is suspended.
  • Juvenile Complainant, Tall Oaks East, mother stated that her 16-year-old daughter refused to get ready for school. Mother was explained the process of filing a complainant through Juvenile Court. Mother advised they have a court hearing tomorrow.
  • Welfare Check, Tall Oaks West, Complainant wanted to check on the residence. The Occupants are ok.
