MPD Reports: Car chase ends in wreck and recovery of stolen vehicle

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period June 20 – 27, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Traffic Stop – W. Spring St./White Oak Lane.  An officer observed a vehicle traveling with a tag light not properly working.  Officer conducted a traffic stop.  During a probable cause search of the vehicle, marijuana, scales and small baggies were located.  Driver was taken into custody for possession with intent to distribute.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. – MPD Lobby in reference to complainant wanting advice on getting subject to move out of his residence. The complainant was advised of the eviction process.
  • Fraud – S. Broad Street – MPD Lobby in reference to complainant reporting her sister, used her name and birthdate on a traffic stop.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Spring St. – Dairy Queen in reference to a W/M lying in front of the door and walking around with his shirt on his head. Officers made contact with the subject who appeared to be a mental person. He stated he was waiting for his boss. He was asked to leave upon the request of the employees. Subject left without incident. All ok.
  • Meet with Officer – W. Spring St. – Suntrust Bank in reference to the manager wanting to file a report due to subject injuring herself on location. The subject was checked on scene by Walton County Fire. All ok. Report taken.
  • Drug Activity – S. Broad St. – CVS Pharmacy. Mildred Walton was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and drug-related objects.
  • Steven Hooks was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and 2 outstanding warrants.
  • Threats – Baron Dr. in reference to meeting with the complainant. Complainant advised juveniles “jumped” her daughter last weekend in Old Mills and wanted the incident documented because they continue to harass her. I spoke to the subject on the scene and she was arrested for two active warrants for her arrest – DOC & Interference to Gov’t property.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St.- Chevron. The store owner got into a disagreement with customers. The store owner had all three customers criminally trespassed.
  • Dispute – Plaza Trace, Country Grove Apts. Complainant advised that he and his father got into a verbal argument. The complainant said his dad put his hand on him. The complainant was able to provide video evidence of his father pushing him.
  • Stolen Auto/Chase – Assist Walton County SO with car chase. The vehicle hit a ditch in the yard and then nose-dived into a residence on Fairview Dr (vehicle vs. residence) (Green Acers) While assisting with perimeter, a caller reported vehicle used in the chase to be stolen from Ridge Road
  • Stolen vehicle – Ridge Rd., Skyline Trace Apts. Ref to above call. WCSO requested initial in ref to their vehicle chase. Warrants to be taken by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Agency Assist – on Highway 11 near Charlotte Rowell Blvd in reference to WCSO being in a chase on foot. WCSO arrested the subject.
  • Suspicious Activity – G W Carver Dr. and N. Broad St – While conducting an area check, the officer noticed a door open to one of the buildings by the cell tower, and the fence damaged. Multiple copper wires were observed cut inside one of the buildings. Criminal Invegation Division was notified.
  • Road Blocked – on Highway 78 E. near Unisia Dr. in reference to trash in the roadway. The roadway was cleared.
  • Scam – at Walton County Sheriff’s Office in reference to complainant stating someone called her impersonating an officer with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and requesting funds for $200. Report taken.
