MPD Reports: Car keyed, entering autos, thefts and subsequent arrests

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period July 23 – 30, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Suspicious person – Claywill Cir. Caller advised that someone was knocking at his door. He thought it was possible his ex-girlfriend. Conducted an area check she was not on location. 

Entering Auto – N Midland Ave. Caller advised that he could see two males entering his vehicle. Officers arrived and located one male hiding in the woods. He was in possession of a gun which was stolen from Tom Brewer Rd on 07.23.2020. A perimeter was set up and before K9 could respond the second male was spotted exiting the perimeter and was taken into custody on East Marable Street. The males were charged for entering auto x 4, the first male is also charged with theft by taking (Firearm), possession firearm during the commission of felony, possession of a concealed weapon. The second male is also being charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of knife during the commission of a crime. Each are being charged with additional criminal attempts to commit entering auto based on camera footage obtained by the victim. 

Follow up- in reference to identifying the suspect from the John’s Supermarket theft. He was identified, and a warrant has been secured for Felony Theft by Taking. 

Traffic Stop – Maple St & E. Marable St. reference to a subject being stopped for failing to stop at a stop sign. Probable Cause search for odor of marijuana led to his arrest for Possession of Schedule II. Possession of Schedule IV. Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute. Possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. 

Unknown – Colquitt St. Made contact with two females on location who stated they did not call 911. They became hostile and would not speak with police and declined police action. 

Firearms – Atha St. & S. Madison. Complainant stated there were appx. 9 shots fired at the intersection; possibly from a white passenger car. Area searched. Contact was made with the residents in the area who advised they did hear the shots but didn’t see the shooter. No physical evidence was found on scene 

Firearms – Lacy St. & Davis St. Complainant stated that occupants of a Jeep Liberty were possibly shooting at a white passenger car. Area was searched with negative contact with either vehicle. 

Dispute – Birch St. Complainant stated there was a dispute at this address and then disconnected the line. No such address and dispatch was unable to recontact due to the number being a 911 only phone. 

Warrant Attempt – West Creek Cir. Attempt to locate/arrest a subject for battery warrants. He was not on location. 

EMS Assist – N. Midland Ave. Subject requesting transport to hospital for difficulty breathing. She was transported by EMS without incident. 

Citizen flag down – West Marable St. Ref to a dispute between two parties. Parties were separated and was advised of remedies. 

Entering auto – Brookfall Ct. Two vehicles entered; multiple items taken. Report was made, handgun was placed in GCIC and they were advised remedies 

Damage to property – Bryant Rd., Athens Tech. Ref to graffiti on building. Incident occurred over the weekend. Photos were taken, report taken. 

Citizen flag down – West Spring St., Walmart. Office employee advised of a b/m with a Home Depot buggy full of power tools trying to get a ride out of there from anyone, possibly a shoplifter. Area checked with negative contact. 

Dispute – Ash Ln. in reference to Subject putting complainants’ stuff out. He was just moving it out to clean the room. All was ok. Parties were separated and remedies were given in reference to property. 

Damage to Property – G W Carver Dr. Complainant reported the back glass to her vehicle broken. Neighborhood juvenile admitted fault, report taken. 

Entering auto – Mill Stone Bluff. Ref to a handgun stolen from the vehicle while they were on vacation. No serial number, advised to get it if possible. 

Follow up – G.W. Carver Dr. Complainant from earlier Damage to Property call has suspect on location. 

Damage to property – Claywill Cir. Ref to an ex-girlfriend/friend mad and keyed a vehicle on location. Remedies advised. 

Dispute – Lacy St. and Pine Park St. Subject is disputing with her sister over shirts made for a birthday party. Civil Issue. Remedies advised. 

Other law – Creekview Ct. Complainant reporting that she has not received her mail in 2 months. Complainant advised she has gone to the Post Office to report the issue and they told her they couldn’t help her. 

Harassment – Plaza Dr. Complainant called reference receiving phone calls from her ex-boyfriends’ new girlfriend. 

Theft report – S. Broad St., Southside MHP lot 143. Ref to package taken off porch. No theft occurred; neighbor moved the package from the steps until she got home. All ok. 

Traffic stop – Pinecrest Dr. and West Spring St. Subject arrested for Driving while License suspended and released on copy.
