MPD Reports: Car reported stolen was actually left in drive and rolled into neighboring parking lot

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Dec. 26, 2019 to Jan. 2, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Damage to property – Community Ct., Felker Park Boys and Girls Club in reference to someone vandalizing the school bus over the weekend. 
  • Dispute – Towler St. Daniel Gonzalez arrested for battery after a fight with a subject.
  • Fraud – Dean St. Reference to the complainant having his wallet stolen at Murphy’s Gas Station last week and someone making several purchases with his debit card. Report taken.
  • Theft – Magnolia Ter. Reference to complainants’ cell phone being taken by her ex-girlfriend. Report made.
  • Extra Patrol – Towler St. In reference to complainant requesting extra patrol because the maintenance man keeps giving her 5-year-old daughter money.
  • Animal Complaint – Elm Place. In reference to the complainant wanting help removing a lizard from her residence. All ok.
  • Stolen Vehicle – E. Spring St. (Mr. Quicks) – Complainant, reported someone stole her car while she went into the gas station. After reviewing the video camera, it was established that the vehicle was not stolen and that she forgot to put it in park and it rolled into the parking lot next door.
  • Assault – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Complainant advised he was punched by his nephew. Complainant advised he did not wish to press charges at this time. Remedies given.
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St., Walmart. In reference to a subject being on location in a confused state of mind. She was transported to Piedmont Walton by EMS.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. In reference to a subject refusing treatment at the hospital and refusing to leave. Officers made contact with the subject and were able to locate her brother who lives at Creekwood Dr. in Athens. The subject was transported to her brothers’ residence. All ok.
  • Warrant Attempt – Green St. Latoya Morrow arrested on outstanding warrants and possession of Marijuana less one ounce.
  • Lost Item – S. Broad St. Southside MHP. Complainant reported his wallet and pants missing since 15:00 hours previous date. No signs of forced entry or anything else missing from the residence.
  • Traffic Stop – Nowell St. & N. Broad. Varjanae Manley’s vehicle towed due to no insurance.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Madison Ave. and E. Church St in reference to a subject being intoxicated and flagging down vehicles. Brewer was sent on his way.
  • Lobby report – S. Broad St., MPD. Ref to previous lobby call/civil issue handled by the officer. Civil remedies were re-advised by a second officer, all ok.
  • Lobby report – S. Broad St., MPD. Ref to a complaint of scratches from a K9 alert. Complaint form provided and turned over to the officer.
  • Trespassing – Walker Dr. Reference to a subject driving through the yard of the residence after being warned previously not to. The subject was cited for trespassing.
  • Theft – Amber Trail. Complainant advised that her Ipad has gone missing, and believes her neighbor’s children may have taken. The Ipad pings at the neighbor’s residence, Officer was unable to locate the Ipad. Report taken
  • Theft – Davis St – Complainant reported he was at a neighbors’ house visiting and he had his gun with him. The complainant said when he got home, he noticed his gun was no longer on his side and went back to his neighbors’ house to look for the gun. The complainant said a guy named subject was there and he possibly has the gun. Gun has been entered on GCIC by dispatch.
  • Damage to Property – Cherokee Ave. – The complainant stated he was driving down E. Washington St. near the government housing when his rear passenger window shattered. I conducted an area check with negative contact with any items which may have broken the window. Report taken.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. – Two subjects got into a verbal altercation about how one of the subjects’ son treats him. Parties were given remedies and agreed to get along.
