MPD Reports: Cell phone allegedly stolen off seat through open window from running car

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 20 – 27, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Extra patrol throughout the day in reference to a male subject walking in his yard and around the neighborhood in his underwear praying over vehicles and talking to children. 

MS Assist – McDaniel Street In reference to an older female claiming her ex-husband was in her house. All Okay. Her current husband was at the residence and EMS transported her to the hospital. Recent diagnosis of dementia. 

DOA – Wheel House Lane: Family members on location finding subject deceased in his bed. 

Other Law – Tanglewood Dr -Complainant called in reference to receiving a failure to appear notice after paying her citation fine. Remedies advised. 

Suspicious Vehicle / Person – Double Springs Church Road (Monroe Area High School) Contact was made with a subject seated in the student parking lot. He left without any incident. 

Assault report – S. Broad Street Complainant wanting to report being assaulted by her boyfriend sometime today at an unknown location near Davis St. Complainant showed no signs of injury and was heavily intoxicated. 

Shoplifting – West Spring Street (Wal-Mart): The loss prevention office had a woman in custody for shoplifting. The woman was arrested for shoplifting and released on a copy of citation. Report made. 

Harassment – Eagles Tr. In reference to complainant receiving threatening text messages. Report taken. 

Damage to property – Plaza Dr. Ref to her vehicle being scratched, and her tire slashed. Two possible suspects, Office staff is going to view video footage and call back with an update. 

Theft report – Perry St. Complainant reported an unknown black male reach into her running vehicle, that had the windows down and take her cell phone. Report taken. 

Shoplifting – West Spring St., Walmart. Subject arrested and released on citation to EMS due to chest pains, unable to fingerprint. 

EMS Assist – South Madison Ave. Officers stood by until EMS transported a male subject due to heavy intoxication and foot pain. 

Civil issue – Pine Park St. Complainant advised her grandmother changed the locks and had the power cut off at her apt. Advised of civil remedies. 

Missing person – Hubbard St. Complainant reported her sister missing since 5/18/2020. Report done and the missing person was added to NCIC. 

Criminal Trespass – Lacy St. Complainant reported ex-boyfriend breaking open her back door. WTBT against the boyfriend for criminal trespass. 

Shoplifting – W Spring St. Walmart. (2) Subjects were caught skipping items at the self-checkout. Both subjects were fingerprinted and released on copy. Report taken 

Traffic Stop – W Spring St at Rite Aid. Vehicle was stopped for driving with no lights on while raining. The driver does not have a valid drivers’ license. She was released on copy of citation on scene for OCGA 40-5-20 Driving without a valid driver’s license. 

Dispute – Landers St. In reference to dispute between neighbors. Remedies advised. All ok. 

Accident – E Church St. In reference to vehicle versus a building. Vehicle collision with residence. Driver taken into custody for DUI/Drugs and released on copy. Report taken. Gears report taken. 

Theft – Plaza Dr, Ashton Pointe. In reference to stolen airpods. Complainant advised that an 8-10-year-old female found her airpod. The resident advised that they were going to continue to look through their apartment to locate the airpod and return it back to the complainant. 

Assault – E Spring St. Sunshine Cleaners. In reference to complainant being jumped by three males wearing all dark clothing and took his money. Report taken. 

Suspicious Vehicle – Hammond Park. Probable cause search was conducted, no illegal narcotics located inside the vehicle. Subjects were advised of park hours and sent on their way.
