MPD Reports: Deceased dog found tied up in yard, 17-year-old arrested for DUI

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period May 31 to June 6, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Trespassing – Union St. Complainant advised someone turned on her outside water faucet and left it running.
  • Burglary / Entering Auto – Cherry Hill Rd. – R&R Welding in reference to complainant reporting his business being broken into and tools taken. Report taken and turned over to Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Follow Up -South Hammond Drive. Reference case involving a victim.  After listening to voicemail, warrants to be taken on Russell Sweeney for Terroristic Threats and Harassing Communications.  Warrants sent to Poinsett County, AR
  • Theft – MPD. The complainant stated someone placed light fixtures in her shed and entered her residence on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 between 1330 hours and 2230 hours and took $30 cash from her bedroom. She suspects a subject. Report taken
  • Warrant Served – Alcovy St. – Georgia Probation Management. Subject on location with an active probation violation warrant. She was arrested and transported to the Walton County Jail.
  • Theft – 4th St. Complainant said that the subject stole her medication, but there was no proof.  Another complainant said that same subject stole colostomy bags she had before leaving on foot.  Both complainants were explained the warrant process, eviction process, and TPO process.
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St. – Piedmont Walton. The officer made contact with the subject and he was verbally warned to stay away from the hospital.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. – Lee Legacy Personal Care Home. The complainant wanted to check subject out for a few nights due to him appearing sick.  The subject has no orders to hold him there. The current caretaker wanted to dispute. Report taken.
  • Animal Complaint – Country Club Dr. in reference to the deceased dog outside tied up in yard. Neglect apparent, turned over to animal control reference necropsy.
  • Traffic Stop – N. Broad/ Charlotte Rowell at the Valaro gas station. Jacob Young was arrested for a warrant out of Barrow County. Jacob was turned over to Barrow County SO. All ok
  • Warrant Service – W. Marable St. – in reference to locating Larry Dorsey who has a valid warrant for his arrest out of Athens-Clarke County. Consent was given and Dorsey was located inside of the residence and arrested.
  • Follow up – Great Oaks Plaza. reference employees of Mexican restaurant serving under the age persons alcohol at closing. All persons were ok.
  • Lost item – Nowell St. Complainant stated that his firearm was missing. The complainant had been drinking and was unable to tell me when it was last seen. Complainant still had the box it came in with the serial number, report taken.
  • Damage to Property – Carver Pl. Vehicle was damaged by having a dresser thrown on it. Options were advised, complainant advised to have a follow-up with this officer next working day.
  • Traffic Stop – A 17-year-old was arrested for DUI. Report taken
  • Domestic – Birch St. – In reference to Rashad Johnson attempting to break into the residence of complainant. Johnson arrested and charged with criminal trespass and simple assault.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Tanglewood Dr.: The complainant woke to a suspicious vehicle in her yard near her window. Requested report and advised of towing process.
  • Found Property – Alcovy St.: Golf Course Maintenance entrance: Ammons Bridge Rd. Reference to complainant locating syringes on the side of the roadway. It was disposed of. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Alcovy Legion: 2008 Ford Escape left on location with no tag. The property owner was advised of towing process.
  • Entering auto – Oak St. Complainant advised that a subject had broken into her vehicle and taken items to include the fuses that allow the vehicle to start.
  • Civil Matter – Tanglewood Dr.  Contact made with the complainant about her account was short $100.00 after using the ATM at Franks Stop and Shop.  She was referred to speak with the manager.
