MPD Reports: Dog bite, fraud and disputes over food, TV games and just not getting along

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 16 – 24, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into 3 parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, West Spring St., Sake Express, reference to an older woman verbally disputing with staff over food. The female was gone when officers arrived,
  • Suspicious Vehicles, Oakwood Lane, reference to a red Chevrolet Cobalt and Silver Van in the cul-de-sac, occupied. Upon arrival, the complainant canceled. The officer observed that the subjects resided on Oakwood Lane. All ok.
  • Meet with Officer, Pannell Rd., the complainant advised named subject moved out and left several items. She was advised of remedies.
  • Civil Issue, Landers St., reference to complainant disputing with a male subject over a subject not completing work on complainant’s son’s bicycle and not returning complainant his money. The complainant was informed of the civil procedure.
  • Traffic Stop, South Broad St., Hardees, Thomas Paradise was stopped for an equipment violation. He was found to have an active probation violation warrant through Barrow County Sheriff’s Office. He was arrested and released to Barrow County.
  • Fraud, Quality Foods, reference to two customers paying with counterfeit $20-dollar bills. Report Taken.
  • Request for Area Check, E. Marable/N. Broad, due to what appeared to be a rifle in the roadway.  The object was located, and it was a piece of rubber.  It was removed from the roadway.
  • Agency Assist, Davis St., Assist Georgia State Patrol the with the arrest of a subject for possession of methamphetamine. The subject transported to jail without incident.
  • Damage to Property, West Marable St., the complainant found the rear window of his Saturn broken, possibly by a block of wood found in the parking lot.
  • Suspicious Person, 4th St., reference to three black males in the backyard. Made contact with the male subject who is of diminished capacity. All ok at the home and no suspicious persons were on location.
  • Traffic Stop, North Broad St., at Advantage Behavioral, driver stopped for traffic violations.  The front seat passenger, Paul McDougal was found to have an active felony probation warrant for his arrest out of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.  Mr. McDougal was arrested and turned over to the Walton County Jail without incident.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, East Marable St., Mathews Park – Jonathan Taylor and Shelby Taylor were both arrested and drug-related charges as they drove into the rear parking lot of Matthews Park.
  • Suspicious vehicle, North Broad St. entering the city limits. Contact was made at North Broad St./West Spring St. and the driver was tired. All ok.
  • Dispute, North Midland Ave., complainant stated her husband would not leave her alone. The complainant stated she had an agreement with the DA office to allow her husband into the home until his court appearance on Monday.  He was gone when officers arrived and no statements or evidence of a domestic dispute had occurred.   All Ok.
  • Meet With, PD Lobby, complainant wanted to advise that a guy at Waffle House recorded him this morning.
  • Dispute, Tanglewood, two subjects arguing over bills.  Situation mediated.
  • Warrant, South Madison Ave, made contact with Ashley Ocdekerk who had a warrant out Walton County. Dispatch confirm the warrant.  Transported her to the WCSO with no incident. Report made.
  • Fraud report taken at PD Lobby. Complainant reported fraudulent charges on her bank account. Report taken.
  • Welfare check, Lakeview Dr., Complainant advised that someone was staying there. Possible no running water, feces on the floor Negative Contact, K-9 on location.
  • Hit and Run, West Spring St., 3rd party complainant. Vehicle 1 driver/occupants arrived back at the vehicle. Nolan Bartholomew arrested for disorderly conduct and Possession less than.  Unable to locate or make contact with Vehicle 2 owner.
  • Welfare check, Ga Hwy 138, Complainant wanted to check on an elderly white male. All ok.
  • Animal bite, West Spring St., Piedmont Walton, met with complainant he advised that his niece was bitten by a Pitbull from there next-door neighbor’s residence. Male subject arrived and was explain what happened. TOT Animal Control.
  • Attempted Burglary, Sporty Ln., complainant stated her front door and her back door had pry marks on both of them. She advised they did not make entry. Report made.
  • Domestic Call, South Broad St., 51-year-old stepdaughter and 51-year-old stepfather are not able to get along. Remedies advised.
  • Juvenile Complainant, Tall Oaks East, complainant wanted a report on a damage to property on a front window. Report made.
  • Burglary in Progress, Baron Dr., complainant stated the lady from an earlier call was inside of the residence. No forced entry, cleared the residence, Next door neighbors stated no one there last except the maintenance from the earlier call. The residence is secured.
  • Meet With Officer, East Fambrough,, reference to Wade Atwood wanting to turn himself in for Violation of Probation. Arrest made, report taken.
  • Meet With Officer, Metro PCS, reference to a customer losing $20. The customer was GOA and employees advised he found his money.
  • Dispute, Landers St., reference to a possible DUI. There was no dispute. Made contact with the complainant who stated a subject name given almost hit them on Church Street. Made contact with subjects on Landers street who stated named subject was gone when officers arrived. Nothing further.
  • Violent Dispute, Plaza Dr., a complainant called in reference to another subject attempting to kick in her door. The residence at Arnold Pointe Apartments is not valid. Contact made with female subject located at Apts., who advised there was a dispute in the parking lot and all subjects were gone when officers arrived. Negative contact with named subject by phone. Ashton Pointe was also checked with negative contact.
  • Welfare Check, North Midland Ave., the complainant wanted to check on a female subject. Was advised by a roommate that subject went for a walk this morning. Faith in Serving Humanity put her up for another night.
  • Civil Matter, Mill Stone Bluff, mother stated the father of their child wanted to visit. She wanted him to leave. Spoke with the father advised him of the civil process he needed to take.
  • Damage Property, Baron Dr., complainant stated she called her landlord to report that somebody did a drive by and shot at the residence. Complainant called to have a report made.
  • Domestic, Green St., two subjects having a misunderstanding over a video game. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Highway 78/Unisia Dr., man on the side of 78 ran into the wood line. Checked the area with negative contact.
  • Theft, Felker St., the grandmother said her granddaughter stole her debit card.  The grandmother said she has taken approximately $1000 from her, however, was unsure of where she banked. The grandmother said this has been going for years then said a couple of weeks then said on her bank statement it started on 11/07/2018. Report taken.
  • Escort from 300 Double Springs Church Road through Downtown Monroe. Assisted Monroe Area High School football team with the assistance of the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Social Circle Police Department, Monroe Fire and Walton County Fire Departments.
  • Shoplifting, Walmart. Female on location attempting to leave without paying.
  • Welfare Check, South Broad St/Davis St., an anonymous complainant stated they observed a male subject on a bicycle approximately 15 minutes prior to the time of the call, and were concerned for his wellbeing.
  • Wanted Person, White County Sheriff’s Office, reference to picking up Jimmy Pugh.  Mr. Pugh had an active warrant for violation of probation out of Monroe Police Department.
  • Damage to Property, Custom Way, reference to a window being busted out on a vehicle. The complainant was gone when officers arrived.
  • Dispute, Cook St., complainant stated that her ex-girlfriend came over and possibly broke her window. Complainant was not sure if she did and did not see who did it but requested a report.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, reference to a Ford Ranger following too closely an area check was conducted with negative contact.
  • Meet with, West Spring St., the anonymous complainant stated a homeless male subject needed a place to stay for the evening. Conducted an area check with negative contact.
  • Traffic Stop, Page St./Davis St., officer observed a black Dodge Neon bearing tag #. The tag was running through GCIC and returned canceled. Officer initiated a traffic stop and the driver turned onto Page Street. The driver exited the vehicle and fled the scene. Officer gave chase and quickly apprehended the subject. The driver James Smith was checked on GCIC and returned with a probation warrant through the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Smith was cited for Driving on suspended license, Disorderly Conduct, Cancelled Tag, and Tire Requirements. Smith was fingerprinted and transported to the Walton County Detention Center
  • Meet with Officer, Overlook Crest, reference to the Property manager finding two locked doors inside the residence. Everything on location was OK.
  • Agency Assist, Kendall Court/Ash Lane, reference to transporting an arrestee for Georgia State Patrol.
  • Suspicious Person, Michael Circle, reference to a white female in a van talking to her three-year-old son, who’s very friendly. The female parked the van at an address for approximately 20 minutes before leaving and them calling the police. The female and van were gone upon police arrival. Also checked surrounding neighborhoods with negative contact.
