MPD Reports: Entering autos, Identity theft, Burglary, DUI and Drug issues

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Feb. 1 – 7, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Entering Auto, Reed St., an unknown B/M went through complainant’s suburban and stole approximately $1600.00 worth of property. After reviewing the video footage, the subject went through the back hatch of the SUV between 0518-0523 hours. The subject appeared to be a short male, wearing a blue or black pair of coveralls.
  • Dispute, Carver Pl., reference to two subjects disputing over money. The situation was mediated. All ok.
  • Identity Fraud report taken at Monroe PD lobby. The complainant stated that he received a W2 in the mail from a business he had never worked for. He believes someone used his information to gain employment. He was advised of remedies. Report taken.
  • Agency Assist, Ammons Bridge Rd. near Alcovy St., reference to two suspicious B/M’s in the area. Officers made contact and all was ok.
  • Damage to Property, Court St., complainant stated he found the private parking signs for the parking lot behind his business bent backward, possibly sometime over the weekend. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property, Heritage Ridge Dr., reference to named subject striking the garage door of the residence. Report taken.
  • Damage to Property, South Broad St., complainant stated that he came home to find his mailbox damaged. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St., Peach state Credit Union. All was ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, South Broad St./Vine St., reference to a silver BMW X5 coming into the City with an expired tag and no insurance. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle on Vine St. at Madison Ave. Consent to search was given and insurance as verified. The driver was released on a copy of citation for expired registration.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Walmart, Subject arrested for Theft by Shoplifting for skip scanning items. She was transported to the Monroe Police Dept for fingerprints and released on copy of the citation.
  • Threats, Walker Dr., reference to complainant wanting a report on named male subject trespassing on her property.
  • Medical Assist, West Spring St., Haven Inn, male subject experiencing medical episode due to meth use. Turned over to EMS
  • Traffic Stop, Charlotte Rowell/HWY 78EB. John Burton arrested for a warrant out of Winder PD, transported to the Alltel building.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St./Highland Ave., reference to the previous call at Papa John’s. named male subject located and returned to Walton 24 due to damaging the property behind the stores. Walton 24 employee responded, and Citation and criminal trespass issued to the male subject.
  • Stolen Vehicle, Magnolia Terr., complainant allowed named male subject to use vehicle and he was 2 hours late, advised of civil options.
  • Welfare Check, East Church St., male subject left Piedmont Walton without being discharged. Male subject not at this residence. Unknown where he might be.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Monroe Estates, reference to named subject parked in an undeveloped area. Driver left area.
  • Dispute, Magnolia Terrace, reference to named subject bringing vehicle belonging to owner back to residence. Owner wanted subject to leave and not return. Subject took property and left.
  • Burglary, from earlier call, Magnolia Terrace, reference to Abdulwahi Rush observed attempting to pry open the rear window on owner’s car. Rush arrested for criminal attempt to commit burglary and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. After arrest Rush found to have active warrants from New Jersey under the name Michael Rush. NJ will extradite.
  • Dispute, Ford St., the complainant was upset due to his wife sleeping in a camper.  Parties separated for the night.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Piedmont Walton ER, reference to male subject acting strangely after being released. He was given a ride back to his room at Haven Inn
  • DUI Stop, Hwy 78East/North Broad St., Benjamin Hendrix stopped for failure to maintain lane, no headlights and no turn signal.  Benjamin Hendrix released approximately one hours before from ER due to meth and alcohol overdose and was still intoxicated.  Field Sobriety test done, and Hendrix taken into custody for DUI combination.  Report taken.
  • 0618 hours (Damage to Property) at 634 Michael Circle. Connie Floyd parked her Ford Expedition by the roadside last date approximately 2100 hours. This morning when she was going to work, she noticed damage to her passenger side. Report Taken.
