The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 27 to Sept. 3, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
Welfare check – South Broad St., Chevron. Subject was sleeping on a porch for 2 days. He was brought to the hospital from Covington and had no way to get back. He was sent on his way.
Suspicious person – Claywheel Cir. Subject on location attempting to retrieve items she left.
Dispute – East Marable St., Hot Spot. Clerk reported a verbal altercation with a customer. Customer was gone when officers arrived.
Follow up – Glen Irus Dr. Contact made with subject from above call who was trespassed from the location.
Entering auto – West Fambrough St. Complainant stated her vehicle was entered during night time hours. Wallet taken and used at a Marathon in Monroe.
Follow up – West Spring St., Harry’s Marathon. Attempted to obtain information for call #7. No results possibly wrong Marathon involved.
Suspicious Vehicles) at Piedmont Pkwy. Located during area check. Two subjects on location “talking”. Sent on their way.
Loud Music – East Marable St. Music not very loud, residents advised of recent complaint.
Civil issue – Ash St. Subject had questions about the sale of a car. Problem with amount paid to her for the car. Remedies advised.
Dispute – McDaniel St. Dementia patient forgot who her husband was and thought the man in her house was a stranger. GCAL (Georgia Access and Crisis Line) Crisis Team responded.
Dispute – South Madison Ave. Three subjects disputing over a stolen George Forman grill.
Follow up – 1 Bulldog Dr., GWA. Ref to locating the third vehicle involved in Walmart MVA. Contact made and vehicle was sent back to Walmart to meet with GSP.
Suspicious Person – South Madsion Ave., Shifters. Subject on location asleep. He was advised to contact FISH next date to get out of city.
Shoplifting – W Spring St. Walmart. In reference to two subjects in custody. $10.92 worth of items were not paid for. Subject was issued a criminal trespass warning. Report taken.
Dispute -Hammock Park. – Officer observed what appeared to be a dispute. It was determined a mother was trying to locate her son who she believes was at the park under the influence. She advised that pills are being sold among the juveniles while they hang out at the park.
Suspicious Person – S Madison Ave. In reference to a white male with long hair sleeping in front of the store. The subject was advised that he was not welcomed to stay outside the front of the business per the complainant. Subject left without incident.
Damage to Property) at 1425 S Madison Ave Lot 121. – Officer was flagged down in reference to damage to a window on the residence. Complainant requested a report be made to be
Traffic Stop – Landers St. Vehicle was stopped for equipment violation. The vehicle came to a final stop and the driver fled on foot while the vehicle was still in drive. Officer stayed with the passenger of the vehicle. During investigation illegal narcotics and drug related objects were located where the driver fled on foot/inside the vehicle. The driver was identified and warrants taken for OCGA 40-8-26 Signal/stop light required, OCGA 40-5-121 Driving while license suspended, OCGA 16-10-24 Obstruction of Officer, OCGA 16-13-2 Poss of Marijuana, OCGA 16-13-1 Poss/use of drug related objects (2 counts).
Juvenile Complaint – Lakeview Drive: In reference to an unruly juvenile on the bus; where an altercation took place. The complainant wanted the juvenile to be removed and charged. Juvenile released to his parent. Report taken
Suspicious person – Martin Luther King BLVD in reference to subject laying on the ground drinking a beer. Subject left the area.
