MPD Reports: Man accidentally shoots himself in the hand

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 18 – 24, 2019. Due to the length, this report was split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Damage to Property, MLK Jr. Blvd., Great Oaks, reference to complainant damaging her tire in the Great Oaks parking lot.
  • Damage to Property report taken, South Broad St., MPD, complainant stated she was blocked in by a gas truck at Frank’s Stop and Shop this past Saturday. She advised she tried to leave, and damage was caused to the front passenger door of her vehicle.
  • Fraud Report, Mayfield Dr., Lead Foot Diesel, reference to someone having duplicate company checks and using them. Report taken.
  • Fraud, West Spring St., Liberty First Bank, reference to a b/m cashing a fake check for $7,048.50. Report taken and CID was notified.
  • Gunshot Wound, East Spring St., a male subject was attempting to clean his gun and had an accidental discharge. Paul had a single gunshot wound to the hand. He was turned over to EMS and transported to Piedmont Athens.
  • Suspicious Person, Southview Dr., reference to a male acting suspicious inside a parked vehicle. The male subject was issued a citation for possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
  • Dispute, Hubbard St., the officer made contact with two subjects. Both parties stated they had been arguing but advised it was verbal only. There were no signs of a physical altercation, everything on location ok. Report taken.
  • Dispute, Ramesh Lane, the complainant advised her boyfriend’s daughter was given permission to use her vehicle last date and was supposed to bring it back this morning at 0700. She advised she had attempted to make contact and the daughter will not answer the phone.  An overdue motorist was given out by dispatch.

  • Child Custody at Walton County Sheriff’s Office reference to complainant needing a report due to his child’s mother not allowing him to have custody on his court-ordered weekend.
  • Meet With at WCSO, reference to complainant needing to get items from Ash Lane. The complainant got items and left the residence.
  • Request for area check, area of South Madison Ave. Ref to 3 juveniles walking with no adult supervision. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Wheelhouse Lane, reference to complainant having issues with neighborhood kids picking on her children. Complainant left residence before police arrived. Will contact police when home.
  • Civil Issue, Davis St., reference to complainant saying she kicked a named male subject out last week and he came in through a window and collected his items. Complainant explained civil options and eviction process. Report requested.
  • Disturbing the peace, Perry St./Green St., Ref to a large party in the area. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Suspicious person, Huddle House, reference to a white male in grey hoodie with a black backpack. While in route, caller advised subject was gone when officers arrived. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Loud Music, 5th St., reference to truck playing music. Negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, East Tall Oaks, reference to a vehicle with the trunk open. Vehicle left open by owner. No forced entry.
  • Meet with Officer, Colquitt St., reference to complainant wanting an escort to Ash St. to retrieve property. Complainant advised multiple items were missing. Report taken.
  • Meet with Officer, South Madison Ave., WCSO, reference to father not happy about the way his wife, places their child in the car. Father did not want Officers to speak with his wife. He was advised of remedies.
  • Return, Ash St., reference to two subjects disputing on location after officers left. Officers remained on scene until one subject retrieved her property.
  • Suspicious Person, South Madison Ave. /Davis St., reference to an older white male walking in and out of the roadway. Officer checked the area with negative contact.
  • Meet with Officer, West Spring St., SunTrust Bank, reference to retrieving a debit card. Officer made contact with a male subject he stated he left his debit card in the ATM and someone removed it and slid it under the front door. He was concerned due to the card lying face up with his information showing. Male subject was advised of remedies. Everything on location ok.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., Al’s Discount Tire in reference to a subject in a white Dodge pulling a gun on an employee. Jarvis Card was arrested for pointing a gun at another.
  • Follow-Up at The Trading Place in reference to a male subject on location attempting to pick up a stolen XBOX. Male subject was interviewed and Officers took possession of the XBOX. The XBOX was removed from GCIC by Walton County Communications. CID was notified and responded.
  • Dispute, East Church St., Chevron, reference to a young b/m upset about his card being declined in the store. He was gone when officers arrived.
  • Dispute, North Broad St., Little Italy, the complainant advised that Little Italy charged her cash app card 3 times and refused to give her service. An employee of Little Italy advised the transactions were not showing on theiThe complainantlainant was advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Persons, West Spring St., Walmart, reference to subjects on location taking pallets without permission. Officers made contact with two subject whom were putting the pallets back upon arrival. Walmart declined any police action as long as all the pallets were returned. The subjects were advised not to take anything without Walmart’s permission. All ok.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, North Broad St., Golden Pantry, reference to a tow truck on location at a pump since 0230 hours. Officers made contact with named subject out of NC. He advised he was just trying to get some rest and was in town to repo vehicles. All ok.
  • Assault, West Spring St., Piedmont Walton, complainant stated her boyfriend took her from her residence on West Creek Circle by force to another address on West Creek Circle and held her there at knife point. He then punched her in the face and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident. Warrants were taken for kidnapping, aggravated assault and battery.
  • Entering Auto, McDaniel St., reference to two unlocked vehicles with articles stolen from them. Report taken.
  • Animal Complaint at Oak St./North Broad St., reference to two Pitbull’s outside in the cold. Canines were ok..
  • Fight, Tanglewood Lane, reference to a large crowd in front of the residence fighting. Negative contact with any large groups or anyone fighting.
  • Unknown, West Spring St., Piedmont Walton, reference to a female subject being uncooperative with ER staff due to signed metal order. Subject was escorted back into her room.
  • Welfare Check, Maple Way., reference to making contact with named subject. Subject was not on location and has not been seen since 3am this time. Advised family members she’s not a missing person at this time. Left party last night intoxicated.
