MPD Reports: Man arrested after stealing a vehicle during a fight and then driving it into a patrol car

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Oct. 24 – 31, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Fraud – Springdale Dr. in reference scam email asking for a $500 gift card. Money was not sent, email was blocked. 
  • Theft – Birch St. – In reference to money taken from two subjects. Unknown suspects.
  • Warrant – N. Broad St. (Susie’s Wings) – In reference to a subject arrested for Parole Violation.
  • Overdose – E. Spring St. in reference to a patient taking too much medicine. Staff advised patient was conscious and alert, they just needed EMS.
  • Fraud – Wheelhouse Lane in reference to complainant’s neighbor writing and cashing a check in her name. Report taken. Warrant to be taken.
  • Sexual Assault – Department of Family and Children Services Monroe Complainant claims that his uncle sexual assaulted him approximately 6 months ago. Report taken and turned over to Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Wanted person – Alcovy St. Subjecrt on location with probation violation warrants. Taken into custody and transported to Walton County Jail.
  • Juvenile Runaway – Bold Springs in reference to the complainants 13-year-old son missing. The juvenile arrived at the location upon arrival.
  • Dispute – Martin Luther King Rd customer was yelling at the manager. Situation was mediated and the customer left.
  • Fight/Stolen Car – N. Broad St -Da Grand- large fight call in the parking lot. Upon arrival crowd was dispersing. Female stated that during the commotion of the fight her car was stolen. Lookout given and a friend of the victim spotted the car. Officer arrived in the area and traffic stop made where suspect drove stolen car into patrol vehicle. The suspect was tased and taken into custody. He is charged with Obstruction x2, theft by taking motor vehicle, theft of mislaid property, entering auto, dui, failure to maintain lane, fleeing and attempting to elude.
  • EMS assist – Lacy St. Call dispatched as a suicide attempt. Amplifying info determined that subject fell onto a lamp and impaled herself in the neck. Turned over to EMS.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Plaza Ct. in reference to officer observing a silver Pontiac Sunfire occupied by a W/M in the cul-de-sac. Officer made contact with subject sleeping in his vehicle. He was advised to find somewhere else to sleep.
  • Warrant attempt – Unisia Dr., Hatachi. In reference to subject being on location with a felony warrant. Supervisors on location advised she does not work until 15:00 hours this date. They were advised to contact 911 when she arrives at work.
  • Theft – Hwy 138, Chick-Fil-A in reference to a B/M taking chicken nuggets and cash. Report taken.
  • Request to meet – Sorrells St. In reference to complainant requesting extra patrol due to crime in the area.
  • Illegal Parking – E. Highland Ave. at N. Broad St. Reference to a red pickup parked in front of St. Albans Episcopal Church. Vehicle moved, all ok.
  • Panhandling – intersection of W. Spring and HW138. Members of New Life Christian Church on location asking for donations. They were advised to obtain a permit from the City. All okay.
  • Dispute – Chestnut Ln. In reference to complainant wanting to report her husband for taking her vehicle. She was advised that the situation was a civil matter and was advised of remedies. Officers on scene spoke to husband over the phone and he stated he would be back at the residence with the vehicle later this date.
  • Dispute – Ramish Ln. Complainant advised her stepmother removed property from a vehicle. Report taken by request, advised of remedies.
  • Fraud – S. Broad St., MPD in reference to complainant stating her son has been taking money out of her account. \Suspicious vehicle – Piedmont Parkway behind Flexo Converters. Couple warned for trespassing, expired tag. Citation issued for suspended tag. Sent on their way.
  • Agency assist – S. Broad St., Southside MHP. Ref to officer in foot chase with subject on bike. Area Searched with negative contact.
