The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incident reports for the period Oct. 29 – Nov. 4, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
Prowler – Stone Creek Bend noises coming from the rear door. Wind blowing on door, all okay.
Suspicious Vehicle – 4th St. Complainant stated someone in a silver car tried to sell him drugs. Vehicle located and traffic stop conducted. Vehicle stolen out of North Carolina. Stephen Hughes and Halie Polk arrested for theft of motor vehicle and possession with intent meth.
Mental Health – Windsor Dr. – Complainant not taking his medication and having a verbal argument with family members. EMS showed up, but subject denied medical treatment.
Mental Health – Haven Inn Subject having a mental health episode. He was dropped off by Athens-Clarke County Police Department earlier this date. Placed in a room at Monroe Motor Inn by FISH.
Assault Law – Gratis Rd. Complainant reported being struck by subject on 10/26/2020 Dean Street. Report taken.
Fire assist – South Broad St., John Supermarket. Ref to smoke in the building with flooding. CID responded.
Juvenile complaint – East Washington St. Ref to two black males on a bike asking people for money. They were located at Mr. Quicks and told to go home. All ok.
Damage to property – James Monroe Homes. Ref to two tires slashed on a silver passenger car.
Unknown Law – Windsor Dr. and Walton Rd. Subject had a medical episode while driving. His vehicle was stopped in the middle of the road, Turned over to EMS.
Mental Patient – Breedlove Dr., Ridgview Mental Health. Morgan County Sheriff’s Office had a mental evaluation patient escape and flee on foot while moving the patient into the building. Patient was located and returned to Ridgeview.
Fight – 2nd St. Interior Mill Work. Males fighting in the parking lot. A subject was cited for disorderly conduct and trespassed from the property.
Entering auto – Classic Trl. Vehicle entered sometime between 10/30/2020 and 11/1/2020. Report made due to wallet missing.
Traffic stop – North Broad St. and Oak St. A female subject was arrested for a warrant out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
Shoplifting – W Spring St. Walmart. In reference to female in the Loss Prevention office. Complainant advised that subject had switched clearance tags on items and attempted to checkout, but was stopped by loss prevention at the register. She was issued a criminal trespass warning to not return to the business.
Gunshot Wound – on Old Mill Run at Basketball Court. In reference to a 32-year-old pregnant female shot in the arm. Call unfounded. Subjects in the area advised they did not hear nor see anything. Negative contact with any victims.
Suspicious Person – Hwy 138. Chick-Fil-A. In reference to a black male walking back and forth, stumbling. Contact was made and his brother picked him up due to having a mental illness.
Firearms – Lacy St at Pine Park St. In reference to 7 shots heard in the area. Negative contact, area was checked on foot.
Other Law – W Spring St. McDonalds. In reference to a black male and female in the parking waiting for the complainant’s daughter to come out to fight her. Complainant advised subjects had just left the parking lot as police arrived on scene and advised that there was no altercation that occurred at this time. Remedies were advised. All ok.
Dispute – Lakeview Dr. Subject gathering his belongings. Complainant agreed to let him have his things. TPO was dropped 10-28-20. He was served an official notice for suspended license. Forms and his license were turned in.
Damage to property – West Creek Cir. Ref to a vehicle damaged sometime during the night, report taken.
Warrant Attempt – Green Street. Attempted to make contact with subject. Residence cleared with negative contact.
Theft Report – East Spring St., Dollar General. Report of caller who had lost wallet. Wallet was located prior to officers’ arrival.
Suspicious vehicle – West Fambrough St. Ref to a truck parked in the parking lot. Contact was made with the driver who was advised to leave.
Burglary in progress – Tanglewood Dr. Suspects fled after kicking in door and seeing that the residence was still occupied. Area searched for a light skin b/m with negative contact.
Suspicious vehicle – Breedlove Dr. and West Spring St. Vehicle was located parked and unoccupied at Captain D’s. The driver, who is a employee at Capt. Ds., was given a citation for Pos. Marijuana less than 1 oz. After her car was searched, based off of probable cause, and a joint was found.
