MPD Reports: Officer refused access to medical facility due to his duty weapon

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 16 – 23. 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge is not a conviction.

  • Scam – Baker Street – Complainant reported a telemarketer called her from Walker Park Retirement and offered to help her lower her utility bills. The complainant advised that she told them she didn’t need any help and to not call her again. Report taken. 
  • Dispute – Green Street. In reference to two subjects arguing. While conducting the investigation, one was found to have a warrant out of Walton County. She was placed under arrest for the warrant and transported to the Walton County Jail. Report taken.
  • EMS Assist – Alcovy St. In reference to a female subject sitting on a glass and cutting herself. Turned over to EMS.
  • Hit-and-Run – Lacy St. In reference to a complainant reporting that someone backed into her vehicle and drove off. The complainant’s vehicle had minor damage to the front driver side fender. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Walker Dr. In reference to a neighbor advising subjects were in the front yard yelling. Officers made contact with female subjects in the front yard who advised that they had been listening to loud music. They were advised to keep the noise leave down. All ok.
  • Dispute – W. Spring Street., Piedmont Walton. In reference to a subject on location. He had not been fully discharged and was not causing an issue.
  • Fight – Maple Lane. The caller advised a large group of subjects were fighting in the area. Officers patrolled the area and had negative contact.
  • Dispute – E. Church Street. In reference to a subject being on location intoxicated. Report taken.
  • EMS Assist – Breedlove Dr., Ridgeview. In reference to a 70-year-old female possibly unconscious. Officer was not allowed to answer call of service due to staff on location not allowing Officer to see the patient. Officer was advised due to having his duty weapon on he could not go upstairs. A follow-up call was given to Ridgeview by the supervisor and staff did not have an answer as to why this took place. The supervisor then did a follow-up and spoke to the staff who refused Officer to enter. The staff is now clear on procedures.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St.., Piedmont Walton. In reference to a subject being in the waiting room. Again, the subject was not causing a dispute. The subject was transported to the area of the library and advised of remedies to get to a homeless shelter.
  • Burglary attempt – GW Carver Dr. Met with a complainant who stated her child’s father busted down her back door and she saw him running away from her bedroom window. Criminal Investigation Division responded.
  • Welfare Check – Bryant Rd. Contact made with a subject, who was bleeding from his leg. The subject agreed to go to Walton Piedmont with EMS.
  • Follow up – Ford St. The complainant wanted to meet with a supervisor due to the above call. The subject had a signed contact with complainant’s daughter as of 3 p.m. yesterday. Civil/eviction process re-explained to complainant who is the landlord of the Davis St. property. The complainant made threats to go to the property and remove the subject himself, the criminal process was also explained.
  • Welfare check – Booth Dr. Two subjects involved in a dispute. Parties were not in a domestic relationship and were separated.
  • Found Property – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. In reference to a wallet left on location by subject. Officer made contact with the subject over the phone. She advised that she was already at home and that she lives in the county. The wallet was turned over to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office and returned to the subject.
  • Meet with an Officer – E. Spring., Sunshine Laundry. In reference to a subject being on location. F.I.S.H provided the subject a room for the night at the Monroe Motor Inn. All ok
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St., Walmart. An employee called in reference to a white male on location for an extended period of time. Contact made with subject. Everything was ok.
  • 911 Hang Up – Tanglewood Dr.- While en route dispatch advised it was a med call for a subject that fell. Officers assisted with getting the subject on the couch.
  • Mental Person – Holly Hill Rd. In reference to the subject stating her uncle and grandmother were buried alive 10 years ago. The officer explained that wasn’t true and she understood.
  • Suicide Attempt – Lacy St. Subject took multiple pills. He refused to go to the hospital with EMS and said he would drive himself.
