The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 27 to Sept. 3, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Suspicious person – HWY 138 at the Great Oaks Senior Living in reference to a subject trying to get into a lock door at the above location. He was placed under arrest for Loitering and Public Drunkenness.
Fraud – South Broad Street at MPD: Complainant reported his identity was used to fraudulently file for unemployment benefits in multiple states. Report taken.
Suspicious Person – East Marable Street in reference to black female in maroon dress wandering in the roadway. Mental Patient given ride home to Tanglewood Drive.
Agency Assist – Park Lake Court: In reference to ongoing issues with subject who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Remedies were given.
Agency Assist – Cook Street: In reference to DFACS needing Law Enforcement to stand by while placing the juvenile in another house hold.
Theft – Davis Street in reference to complainant reporting theft of unknown quantity of bamboo and pomegranates.
Suspicious vehicle – Walmart. In reference to a white van running and shaking with nobody visible inside the vehicle. Contact was made and subjects advised that they were talking in the rear of the vehicle. Subjects were sent on their way.
Dispute – Sorrells St; Mother and son on location in a verbal dispute, because the son gave money to his father. The mother was upset because her son loves the father more. They were advised it was not a police matter and how to handle.
Other Law – S Broad St., Walgreens – Complainant called thinking his ex had put a candy bar in his gas tank. He declined a report and stated he will fix it in court.
Disabled vehicle/Items in the roadway – W Spring St at M.L.K Jr Blvd. In reference to a box of hardwood flooring that fell off a trailer. Officer assisted the owner pick up his hardwood flooring from the roadway. All ok.
Other Law – W. Spring St, Piedmont Walton – in reference to child abuse that occurred in Athens, took report per Athens. Athens stated they could not send anyone out to take the report.
Animal compliant – Gatewood Way and Brookwood Ln. In reference to a kitten stuck in a sewage drain. Officers were able to remove the kitten safely. Turned over to Animal Control.
Meet With – Greenwood Drive. Caller wanted recommendations on what to do about her daughter talking to guys through the playstation network. She was advised of her options.
Traffic Stop – N Broad St at Deer Acres. Vehicle was stopped for windshield violation and turn signal violation. Upon consent search, officer located methamphetamine in the front passengers’ wallet and instrument. Officer checked the backseat of patrol car before leaving the Walton County jail and located a clear bag of methamphetamine halfway shoved between the crack of the backseat. Warrants taken for OCGA 16-13-30 Poss of methamphetamine and OCGA 42-4-13 Contraband across the guard line. Total weight of narcotic was 4.13 grams.
