MPD Reports: Ongoing issue with canines tethered in the woods

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 25 – 31, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Animal Complaint, Booth Dr., ongoing issue with canines in the woods tethered. Dogs have food, water, and something that resembles shelter. The owner has been cited by animal control and is expected in court on February 5.  Code enforcement was also made aware of the trash in the area and alerted the property manager to have the area cleaned.
  • Fight, Maple St, got out with two subjects on East Marable/Birch Street that were seen leaving the area. They advised a male subject in yellow clothing was on his phone screaming. They were cleared and let go. The male in the yellow clothing was identified, who was talking on his phone loudly. No fight occurred.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Popeyes, leaving in the direction of West Spring Street: White passenger vehicle possibly smoking an illegal substance.
  • Entering Auto, West Spring St., reference to someone breaking into complainant’s truck and stealing $2700 cash. Report taken.
  • Criminal Trespass, East Spring St., a male subject who was trespassed on 01/14 came into the store again today. Warrant to be taken for Criminal Trespass.
  • Damage to property, S. Broad St; Elite Storage: complainant reported damage to his vehicle that occurred in John’s Supermarket parking lot last date by an unknown person(s).
  • Child Custody, Maple St., reference to mother going to the location to pick up her child. The subject didn’t want her to take the child. The subject turned the baby over to the mother.
  • Child Custody, Ridge Rd., reference to complainant wondering if there is anything, he could do about who his ex-wife, is moving in with and having their child around. He was advised to handle the matter through the court.
  • Damage to Property, South Madison Ave., Flagged down @ West Church St/Wayne St. reference the witness and suspect. Met with complainant who stated that named subject cut his friend’s truck tire with a pocket knife. Report Taken.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., LP had female subject detained for shoplifting. Report Taken.
  • Warrant, Alcovy St., reference to transporting Phillip Henson and Heather Miller to the Walton County Jail for DCS.
  • Juvenile complaint, Bryant St., Autistic child would not depart the bus. The child was already off the bus and in the custody of the mother upon Officer arrival.
  • Suicide Attempt, White Oak Dr., advised a named male subject took an unknown quantity of pills.  Once on location was unable to make contact with anyone.  A neighbor advised the mom works for a local bank.  Mother contacted her son who is ok and out of town at work.  The son said he is going through a bad breakup and the ex-girlfriend will not leave him alone.
  • Dispute, West Spring St., the complainant advised a lady was assaulting a juvenile and tearing his shirt. The female subject was taken into custody. Report Taken.
  • Suicide Thoughts, overlook Crest: 15-year-old having suicidal though. Mother, transported daughter to Piedmont Walton.
  • Domestic Dispute, E. Spring St. (Monroe Motor Inn Room); named female and Haley Jackson were involved in a physical altercation. Jackson was arrested and charged with Battery FVA. Jackson was transported to the Walton County Jail.
  • Custody Dispute, South Madisthe on Ave., complainant on scene making complaint that named female withholding child despite child custody agreement. Report taken
  • Loitering, Church’s Chicken, N Broad St., the caller stated a black male wearing a red jacket was on location asking for money and food. Male was gone when officers arrived.
  • Lost Item Report, Palmer Court, reference to complainant calling because he left his firearm on the hood of his car and it fell off somewhere. Mr. Hewitt stated he would call back when he found the firearm so a report could be made.
  • Damage to Property, Home Depot, complainant advised that he was parked in the Pro Parking space at approximately 0850 hours.  He then went to Walmart.  While at the stores someone struck his truck.  He is not sure which store it happened at.  There was white paint transfer on the bed of his truck.
  • Civil Issue, West Fambrough St., reference to complainant calling wanting an officer to stand by while his ex-wife dropped his kids off. All ok.
  • Meet with the complainant on the scene wanting to confirm DFACS agent in route to them. DFACS confirmed, all ok.
  • Dispute, East Spring St., complainant wanted to report his vehicle stolen due to the person he lent it to being arrested and her son not returning the vehicle. Complainant was advised of the civil process to recover his vehicle. Vehicle is described as a 99 Maroon Mustang if stopped call complainant.
  • Dispute, East Spring St., complainant stated that named subject was on location beating on the door. Named subject was gone when officers arrived. The complainant stated that he broke the sun roof to her car. Report taken conducted an area check no contact.
  • Follow Up, 4th St., reference to complainant needing a ride from the ER.  Occupants of the residence stated they did not have a way of picking her up.  Officer went to the ER and transported her back home.
  • Warrant Pick-Up, Paulding Co., Mark Meyers picked up from Paulding County on FTA warrant.
  • Welfare Check, Alcovy St./ Breedlove Dr., complainant wanted MPD to check on an older gentleman with an oxygen tank. Made contact with the gentleman. He stated he is ok.
  • Traffic Stop, an officer observed the Marquis Weaver operating a Maroon 99 Ford Mustang that officers were looking for from previous shift. Officer had previous knowledge Marquis’ license was suspended. Marquis was arrested and the vehicle was impounded by towing for the owner to retrieve.
  • Dispute, Fambrough St., complainant reported named male subject came to her residence cursing at her over a social media post. Subject was gone when officers arrived.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Highway 78/Cedar Ridge Rd., reference to a red truck unable to maintain the lane. Area check conducted, negative contact.
  • Lost Item/Gun, Palmer Ct; complainant reported his.45 Springfield XD pistol missing after he placed it on the hood of his vehicle and drove down Ammons Bride Rd. Placed on GCIC.
  • Dispute, S. Madison Ave (Shifters restaurant) complainant reported named subject on location causing a disturbance, Subject left the location upon management’s request.
  • Unsecure location, East Marable, the complainant reported to find the back door to this residence laying on the ground. The residence is vacant and no forced entry, damage or theft was observed. No report requested.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, West Spring St., female that appears “out of it’ laying her head down in the vehicle, on location for 15 minutes. Elderly female on the scene who was in the bathroom. Advised everything was ok.
  • Traffic Stop, Hwy 78 Eastbound/Unisia Dr., the complainant advised vehicle having trouble staying in the lane. Vehicle had an Expired Tag. Citation issued.
  • Theft, West Spring St., met with the complainant. He stated his wallet fell out of his pocket. He found it but was missing $85 dollars. Report Taken
  • Suspicious Vehicle/Person, retreat at Mill Creek, reference to a male subject driving around attempting to sell home security systems. Negative contact.
  • Dispute, Perry St., complainant called because he wanted to talk to an Officer because he wanted to smoke.  Crisis Intervention was en route.  All was ok.
  • Damage to property, Gatewood, anonymous caller stated that eggs were in the road and that her son’s car was hit with an egg. The caller did not want a report, just wanted to inform the officers.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, the complainant advised a white male got out of a dark colored Jeep Cherokee and attempted to enter her vehicle on the passenger side.  Officers made contact with the male subject in a dark colored Jeep.  He admitted that he did try to open her door, but it was a mistake.  He thought her vehicle was his friend’s car.  All ok.
  • Suspicious Person, Hwy 78/North Bd. St., in reference to a male walking on Hwy 78 trying to jump in front of cars.  Officers patrolled the area and had negative contact.
  • Traffic Stop, Midland Ave./Washington St., Patrick Jackson arrested for WCSO warrants. Report taken.
  • Warrant Service, East Church St., Kay Pucket was arrested for active warrants out of Madison County.
  • Suspicious Person, Roosevelt St., the caller stated that a white male was knocking on her door. No further description conducted an area check no contact.
  • Hit-and-Run, Tanglewood Dr./Tanglewood Lane, named male subject left the scene then attempted to abscond. Subject cited and released. Use of force completed, report taken.
  • Civil Issue, Roosevelt St., reference to complainant wanting her cousin to leave. Her cousin left on his own will all okay.
  • Dispute, Rose Ison Terrace, male and female disputing over child custody. No family violence. Situation mediated, report taken.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Johns Supermarket, Vehicle was located at Hardy’s. Officer followed the vehicle and did not observe any moving violations.
  • Warrant Service/Traffic Stop, Magnolia Terrace, vehicle stopped for traffic violations and Deontavious Davis (Passenger) was arrested for outstanding warrants
  • Meet with Officer, West 5th St., reference to complainant asking about the child custody process and an Temporary Protection Order.
  • Dispute, Pizza Hut, reference to a Manager calling because a customer was irate and threw food at the counter. The manager denied to filing a report.
  • Warrant Service, Baron Dr., Leondric Lattimore located at a residence with multiple warrants out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office..
