MPD Reports: Police called when man falls asleep while pumping gas

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Nov. 28 to Dec. 5, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Persons – MLK Jr Blvd – Longhorns in reference to a W/M and W/F coming up to complainants’ vehicle trying to get her out of the vehicle to fight. A third party witness saw the male and female yelling at the complainant. The male and female were identified. Charges to be taken for disorderly conduct. Report taken. 
  • Follow Up – Chandler Rd. in reference to making contact with subjects from above conflict. Both subjects explained their side of the situation. No charges will be filed due to conflicting stories.
  • Loitering – S. Broad St.; Marathon – Subject was arrested for loitering and Disorderly Conduct, after refusing to leave at owners’ request.
  • Dispute – Spring Place – Subject was arrested for Family Violence Simple Battery, for punching her stepdad in the head.
  • Child Custody – 4th St. – Complainant wanted her child back from the child’s father. Father is listed on the birth certificate and all parties were advised of civil process and remedies. Father stated he would return to mother’s home with the child later this date.
  • Wanted Person – E. Marable St. Officer along with Joe Rays bonding bounty hunters attempted to serve a warrant on Samuel Rodriguez. Rodriguez was not on location.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Felker Park – Unlocked and unoccupied vehicle found in park with a small amount of Marijuana inside. Occupants were later found and released to drive home.
  • 911 Hang Up – Ridge Road – Complainant advised they had water coming from their light fixtures. Contact was made with the apartment manager who shut the water off.
  • Wanted Person – Cobb County Jail. Subject on location with a Monroe Failure to Appear warrant. He was transported to the Walton County Jail.
  • Found Property – W. Spring St. – Quick Food Mart. In reference to the clerk turning over a lost wallet. The owner was identified by his ID being in the wallet. Officer contacted him and returned the wallet.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Dean St. and North Midland Ave. While conducting an area check a silver Dodge Journey was seen out of place parked on Dean St. After running the tag, the vehicle returned stolen through Winder PD. Winder PD responded to process the scene. Turned over to Winder PD.
  • Stranded Motorist – E. Church St. and Pine Park St. in reference to a gray Chevy SUV tag that has been sitting at the intersection for four days. The officer attempted to contact the registered owner with negative results. The vehicle was not in the roadway or impeding the flow of traffic. It was tagged with a 72 hour sticker.
  • Suspicious Person – W. Spring St. – Murphy’s USA in reference to a male at pump 8 acting like he was under the influence. Officers made contact with subject who was found asleep while pumping gas. Subject was picked up by his sister.
  • Stolen Vehicle – S. Broad St. – MPD. Complainant stated that a Jackson subject had been using his vehicle and was arrested. Complainant did not know where his vehicle was at. He was advised of an area to check for his vehicle and that the remainder was a civil issue.
  • Civil Issue – Davis Street. Complainant stated that subject had his financial cards. I made contact with a female at Tall Oaks Lane who advised subject had ordered complainant new cards. We checked the mailbox and the cards had not arrived yet. Complainant was advised to give the cards time to arrive.
  • Burglary – S. Broad St. – MPD. Handled by Joint Ops.
