MPD Reports: Purse snatched from buggy at Walmart, theft and burglary complaints

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 8 – 15, 2019. Due to the length, it has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Animal Complaint – Sweetgum Dr. in reference to a loose canine. The canine was retrieved by its owner. 
  • EMS Assist – Arcadia Ct. in reference to a female falling and needing assistance. Officer gained entry for fire and EMS. All okay.
  • Damage to Property – 4th St. in reference to subject returning to the residence after being evicted last date and tearing up bushes and trash. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Maple St. Complainant advised her fiancé locked her out of the residence and put all her property outside. He was not on the scene. She is a listed resident of the residence. Harry Arnold Properties was advised and sent someone over to let her in.
  • Return – Maple St. in reference to Harry Arnold Properties needing law enforcement on scene due to the subject now on location. The eviction process was advised to subject. All okay.
  • Dispute – Hubbard St. beside Dairy Queen. Two subjects were arguing about a vehicle. Situation mediated.
  • Shoplifting – Beautyville. Reference known subject and an unknown black male taking 2 bandannas worth $10. The owner witnessed the incident. Officer checked the area for the subjects. Report requested for documentation
  • Warrant Served – Creek View Dr. While on an area check the subject was observed in his garage. He was arrested for Failure to Appear warrants out of MPD.
  • Damage to Property – W. Vine St. Two complainants advised that subject struck complainants’ vehicle with a brick. There were conflicting stories between parties with no independent witnesses. Remedies were advised. Report taken.
  • Meet with Officer – MPD in reference to fingerprinting subject for an alcohol license. All okay.
  • Suspicious Person – Harris St. in reference to a male lying in the yard. All okay.
  • Stranded Motorist – N. Broad St.t at Hwy 78 EB. The driver of vehicle advised she was cut off by a black and white SUV patrol car and damaged her front passenger side tire. A good Samaritan changed her tire. Vehicle was moved from roadway.
  • Welfare Check /Escort – E. Spring St. – Monroe Motor Inn Room 119 in reference to complainant needing an escort to Tall Oaks Ln. to retrieve property. The property was retrieved.
  • Burglary – Lacy St. in reference to complainant returning home and having two televisions taken and property damaged. Report taken.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. – Walmart. Two women arrested for skip scanning. They were fingerprinted and released on copy of citations.
  • Fight – Old Mill Pt. in reference to 10 or more subjects fighting. The officer was told that several subjects were trying to jump on the subject. the subject was gone on arrival. Officers stood-by until the crowd dispersed.
  • Dispute – Eagles Tail – Complainant wanted charges against his daughter because she was walking her baby outside. I explained it wasn’t illegal for an adult to walk outside with her child and suggested DFCS if he doesn’t like the way she cares for her child.
  • Gas Drive Off – Murphy’s USA – $23.14 stolen from pump #1. Driver, a light-skinned black male, was in a gold Toyota Camry, handicap tag, black driver side quarter panel.
  • Dispute – Reed St. in reference to the complainant having problems with his roommates. The eviction process was explained.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. – Physical dispute between the complainant and a man. Warrant to be taken on the for Battery Family Violence.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. in reference to two subjects getting into a verbal argument. Started in the county and was turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Damage to property – Lacy St. Complainant advised that he damaged his own porch door while moving furniture. Extra patrol requested for the night.
  • Intoxicated Person – Carwood D. in reference to an intoxicated male passed out in complainant’s car. Everything ok.
  • Theft Report – W. Spring St. Walmart. Complainant advised a white male ran up to her shopping cart, grabbed her purse, and her work vest and took off on foot towards Arby’s. The subject got into a black in color Toyota 4Runner. Gone on arrival towards Loganville.
  • Dispute – N. Broad St. at Da Grand – Three identified subjects and another female who has not yet been identified got into a fray. Due to opposing stories, parties were separated and advised of options.
  • Dispute – E. Spring St. Monroe Motor Inn in reference to a subject on location with warrants from an earlier dispute. He was arrested without incident.
  • Assault – Sorrells St. at Rose Ison Ter. in reference to subject assaulting his girlfriend. The subject was gone on arrival and the female denied pressing charges. No domestic relations.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Hwy 78 – In reference to a subject in a vehicle making gang signs. No contact. Walton County Sheriff’s Office made contact in Loganville.
  • Welfare Check/Threats – Wheelhouse Ln.: Reference to a subject who made a threat to shoot her boyfriends’ boss. Subjects’ boyfriend was killed in a recent motorcycle accident. Spoke to subject on the phone who said she was on her way to Gwinnett Police Department Head Quarters to speak to an investigator. Advised Gwinnett Police Department she was on her way there. Subject said she did not have a gun. Advised subject to make contact with me when she returns home.
