MPD Reports: Rape, theft, burglary, affray and slew of domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Feb. 1 – 7, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the second part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Vehicle, HWY 78 Eastbound, reference to a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. Area Checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute, West Spring St. at Its Fashion, female threatened another female after believing she was taken a picture of her.  The first female was gone when officers arrived.
  • Residence Cleared, North Hammond Dr., reference to the homeowner being out of town and requesting officers to check the inside of the home due to possible suspicious activity.  Everything checked to be ok.
  • Welfare Check, Heritage Ridge Dr., reference to anon. caller stating a 10-year-old and 2-year-old were home without proper supervision.  Mother and grandfather were on location and everything ok.
  • Noise Complaint, Davis St., reference to music coming from Davis Street. Spoke with residents who turned the music down.
  • Meet With complainant, West Spring St., reference to customers card getting stuck in Bank of America ATM. Advised to call the number on ATM for assistance.
  • Dispute, South Madison Ave., Engine Room, Physical altercation between two male subjects in the parking lot of the Engine Room. One male subject was taken by POV to Piedmont/Walton ER due to injuries sustained, to include a jaw contusion and a fractured nose.  Report taken
  • Suspicious Person, Waffle House 78, reference to subject dancing in the parking lot. Subject checked and ok.
  • Medical Complaint, Tall Oaks Lane, reference to named male subject heavily intoxicated. EMS responded and subject refused assistance.
  • Suspicious Person, Cook St., at the old school. The male subject was on location walking through the no trespassing area. He was advised to leave the property.
  • Traffic Stop, East Marable St., Gatewood Dr., officers observed a tan Honda Civic being driven by a subject who has a suspended license. He was taken into custody, charged with driving while license suspended, fingerprinted and released on a copy of the citation.
  • Dispute, Pine Park St., officers made contact with the daughter who stated her mother kicked her and her son out of the house. Her mother advised the daughter did not live on location. The situation was mediated.
  • Warrant Served, North Madison Ave., Adam Brown was on location with active warrants for Aggravated Assault and Battery. Brown was taken into custody and released to the jail.
  • Found Property, Tanglewood Dr., reference to complainant finding a Stevens .22 caliber long rifle in her vehicle earlier this date. Nothing was reported taken from the vehicle. The rifle was collected and placed in evidence.
  • Meet with Officer, Pinecrest Dr., complainant requested an officer stand-by while a subject test drove her vehicle that she was selling. All ok.
  • EMS Assist, Douglas St., reference to a child that took over the counter medication. EMS advised Officers that all was ok.
  • Theft Report, Southside Mobile Home Park. The complainant advised that a named female and a named male took her nephew’s bicycle and had not returned it. The bike was located and returned. Report was declined. All ok.
  • Dispute, Roosevelt St., the situation was mediated upon the officer’s arrival. The dispute was between aunt and her nephew over money. Both parties advised everything was ok. Report taken for documentation.
  • Warrant Served, South Broad St., Subject was arrested for an MPD failure to appear warrant. He was transported to MPD for fingerprints and turned over to the jail.
  • Harassment, West Spring St., Walmart, officer made contact with the complainant, who advised named subject told her to “watch her back” while she was shopping in Walmart. Complainant filled out a warrant application on the named subject at WCSO on the 23 of January. The two parties have an upcoming court date on February 12, 2019.
  • Juvenile Complaint, Wheel House Lane, reference to juveniles throwing rocks at the complainant’s residence. The complainant advised that juveniles were throwing rocks at her residence. Officer also spoke with the mother who advised her daughter was pushed by complainant’s daughter. Report taken.
  • Entering Auto, Reed St., reference to (2) speakers and (1) amp being stolen from complainant’s vehicle. Report taken.
  • Burglary, Reed St., reference to complainant reporting a blower heater, (2) hammer drills, and other loose tools stolen from his screened in front porch. Report taken.
  • Harassment Report, Eagle Court, the complainant advised her ex, came over and began to dispute with her. She advised that he has been harassing her by calling her non-stop and making threats. Report Taken.
  • Suspicious vehicle, caller advised another car unable to maintain lane. Both caller and other vehicle stopped on Vine Street and caller advised everything ok and they were not in the city limits.
  • Recovered Property, 6th St., the complainant advised a bike was left on his property. Stolen check returned negative. Bike collected to return to the owner. Report Taken
  • Shoplifting, East Spring St., reference to three males who possibly shoplifted items. Items thought to be taken not located on subjects. Released.
  • Dispute in area of Etten Dr., reference to anonymous neighbor stating a couple were arguing in the front yard and strange cars were driving by. Area checked and units could not locate any activity.
  • Suicide Threats, North Bd., reference to subject making threats to harm himself. Checked out by EMS and released
  • Dispute in the area of Etten Drive. Return call. The same issue reported. No contact with anyone in the area or strange activity.
  • Dispute, East Church St., two adult males arguing over a comment on Facebook. The caller was gone when officers arrived.
  • EMS Assist, East Spring St., Monroe Motor Inn.  The complainant in room requesting EMS and a Walton County Sheriff’s Office unit in reference to a rape case she filed with the county. EMS transported her to Piedmont Walton where she met with a member of the WCSO, all ok.
  • Dispute, Roosevelt St., disagreement between two subjects over living arraignments.  Both parties were advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Person, in area of Alcovy St./Country Club Dr. female subject located walking in the roadway and given a ride to family/friend’s home in Jersey. All ok.
  • EMS Assist, South Madison Ave., the female appeared okay after taking one Xanax.  Refused EMS.
  • Civil/Domestic, Sorrells St., complainant upset because his girlfriend cheated on him. The complainant said his girlfriend took her items out of their house and believes she took some of his.  Complainant also said she is claiming his son on her taxes and is trying to defraud Social Security. Complainant has been advised of remedies and the civil process. Report taken.
  • Domestic Dispute, Athens Tech, Bryant Rd., complainant Security Guard stated a student and her boyfriend was arguing in the hallway of the 500 building. Report Taken.
  • DTP, Green St., complaint left between 1800/1900 hours last night and returned home at approx. 0800 hours this morning to her bedroom window broken.  No entry was made into the residence. Report taken.
  • Theft Report, South Broad St., lobby Call. The complainant advised of his property being on someone’s property.  The call was later handled by an officer.
  • Theft/Domestic, Roosevelt St., reference retrieving property, complaint dispute from last night where complainant’s brother-in-law, Derrick Brown, placed his property, pressure washer and air compressor, on the street where the property was taken.  Property located at Roosevelt St., with complainant’s name on it and returned to the complainant. Brown arrested for theft.
