MPD Reports: Rat in cupboard, stranger in attic and dispute over non-payment of ‘bootlegging’ money

The City of Monroe reported the following incident for the period Nov. 30 to Dec. 6, 2018. Due to the length, this report has been split into four parts. This is the first part. Please note and arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute, Magnolia Terrace, Reference to a female on location that is not supposed to be. The female was gone when officers arrived. All ok.
  • Meet With officer’s at PD Lobby, Subject wanted officers to retrieve keys to his step son’s vehicle that was turned over to a friend by Walton County Sheriff’s Office. The subject did not have proper documentation
  • Meet With complainant on 4th St., complainant thinks someone is living in her attic. She was advised of available remedies.
  • Burglary, Storehouse Ct., met with the complainant. He came in this morning and discovered the back-security door was damaged and the back door was open. Report Taken.
  • Shoplifting, West Spring St., Loss Prevention advised they had two suspects detained. Report taken
  • Dispute, Launius Ave., complainant advised named subject slapped her in the face during a dispute.  No evidence found to support her claim.  A report was made for (FV) documentation purposes.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, Jim Daws/Hwy 78, Red Honda Prelude speeding through the parking lot of Minerva. The vehicle was gone in an unknown direction when officers arrived. No property damage reported. All ok at this time.
  • Dispute, E. Church St., a mental health patient was in crisis to the point he had to be restrained by staff, he was later taken to Ridgeview by staff members.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Female asking subjects for a ride. Negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, 2nd St., complainant stated she did not recognize the vehicle. No one was around the vehicle. Dispatched logged it into the call. The owner is doing lawn work on Broad Street.
  • Shoplifting, East Spring St., juveniles took headphones and returned them but possibly took other items.  Requested to have subjects trespassed.  Unable to make contact with juveniles.
  • Dispute, South Broad St., complainant called to complain about named subject coming in his yard and taunting his son. Parties were advised to stay off one another’s property. No crime committed.
  • Welfare Check, Alcovy St., child playing near the road. Spoke with a parent who stated the 2-year-old went outside when the older kids were getting off the bus. All ok.
  • Hit and Run, Zaxbys.  Vehicle 2 was traveling in the area of West Spring Street and Hwy 138.  Vehicle 1 pulled around vehicle 2 and struck the front of vehicle 2.  Vehicle 1 did not stop.  Officer was able to locate vehicle 1 at the company the vehicle belonged to. Waiting for driver information for report.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Pizza Hut, reference to a female subject possibly on drugs, with mental behavior. Female declined EMS, was given a escort to Haven Inn.
  • Domestic, Reed St., the caller stated his uncle would not give him his money so he could go to a “bootleggers” house.  It was determined no domestic occurred and the caller was mental
  • Dispute, Poplar St., named female took a vehicle from the residence. Female has been issued criminal trespass warnings for this residence as well as been arrested previously for being on location.  Officer attempted to take the female into custody at her residence in the County but was unable to do so.  A warrant was taken for criminal trespass.  Report taken.
  • Damage to Property, Wheelhouse Lane, complainant stated her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend damaged her vehicle during a dispute with the ex-boyfriend. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person, West Spring St., Subject was sitting on the curb behind the bank begging for money at the ATM. She was arrested for loitering and turned over to the jail staff.
  • Suspicious Vehicle, South Broad St/West Vine St., Anonymous complainant stated a red Chevrolet truck was failing to maintain lane.
  • Juvenile Complaint, 6th St., reference to complainant seeing three juveniles knocking over a trashcan. Negative contact with juveniles.
  • Dispute, Towler St. reference to complainant disputing with his stepson over rent money. Situation mediated, report taken.
  • Dispute, Victory Dr., the son was upset because his mother would not let him stay up and play games. He was advised it was best to call it a night and go to sleep.
  • Dispute, North Midland Ave., couple were disputing after male knocked on the door. Parties separated report taken
  • Disturbing the Peace, Conestoga Mobile Home Park, reference to a generator being loud. Negative contact.
  • Police Escort, Piedmont Walton, Piedmont Walton ER Staff requested a courtesy ride for a patient to her residence, All okay.
  • Disturbing the Peace, South Broad St., caller advised someone was in the area cutting wood. Conducted an area check no contact.
  • Suicide threats, WCSO Jail, caller advised he was outside with a knife and wanted to harm himself. WCSO made contact – turned over to the county.
  • Traffic Stop, North Broad St/City Hall, 0fficer observed a vehicle fail to maintain lane multiple times.  Officer initiated a traffic stop and during the course of the investigation, it was determined Jeffery Schneider was driving under the influence. Schneider was placed in custody and transported to the Police Department for prints. He was then transported to the jail and cited for failure to maintain lane and DUI.
  • Traffic Stop, South Broad St., reference to a driver being stopped for an equipment violation. A probable cause search lead to finding less than one ounce of Marijuana.
  • Meet With complainant, GW Carver, reference to a rat in the closet. Complainant was advised to call the pest control for public housing
  • Suspicious Person, Home Depot, reference to a male in dark clothing in the parking lot.  Officer patrolled the area and had negative contact with the subject.
  • Dispute, North Midland Ave., complainant called again referencing her husband on location. Complainant suffers from mental illness, Husband provided an escort to a residence on Mountain View Church Rd.
  • Meet with subject, Arcadia Ct., requesting an officer to stand by while the retrieved their vehicle from that residence.  Vehicle recovered.  All ok. A strong odor of Marijuana was observed from that residence when the keys were returned to the owner of the vehicle.
  • Entering Auto, Tanglewood Dr., complainant stated his passenger side window was busted out. Report Taken
  • Juvenile complaint, Davis St., mother upset due to son smoking Marijuana.  Situation mediated.
  • Suspicious vehicle, S. Madison Ave., subjects in a Volkswagen Passat were found to be in possession of Marijuana, Schedule II pills, scales, and $1100. Shane Wilson was arrested and transported to jail.
  • Dispute, West Washington St., caller advised they heard a male yelling and beating on the door and a female screaming. Made contact with the complainant who advised named subject was knocking because he was locked out and yelling because she had the radio turned up and she could not hear him. All ok at this time. No dispute
  • Suspicious Person, Breedlove/McDaniel St., reference to a white male possibly looking in mailboxes. Area check conducted with negative results. Caller did not actually see mail in a mail box.
