MPD Reports: Report of a 7 or 8-year-old driving a golf cart on the roadway

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period June 18 – 25, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – W. Spring St. (Piedmont Walton): In reference to the patient refusing to leave after being discharged. The patient was readmitted back into Piedmont Walton Hospital care for further evaluation. 
  • Damage to Property – E. Marable St. in reference to the complainant having her vehicle keyed overnight and subject trespassing on her property last weekend. The subject was cited for trespassing.
  • Damage To Property – BridgePort Lane: In reference to a vehicle being damaged from lawn care service. Report taken.
  • Trespassing – S. Broad St. in reference to a subject sleeping in a vacant lot and tampering with utilities. The subject was gone when officers arrived, Extra patrol during the night.
  • Welfare Check – N. Midland Ave. In reference to checking on the residence of a subject. She was transported to Piedmont Walton Hospital for a mental evaluation. Report taken.
  • Fraud – S. Madison Ave in reference to a fraud that occurred on Gatewood. The complainant said she received a phone call from an attorney office telling her she needs to pay them with a Netspend prepaid card to settle her loan.
  • Other Law – Bridge Place in reference to a loud argument spoke with the complainant who refused to make a report.
  • Wanted Person – Alcovy St.: In reference to Derrick Lumpkin having active probation warrants.
  • Fraud Report – S. Broad St. Occurred in Walton County. Turned over to Walton County
  • Sheriff’s Office. Threats – S. Madison Ave.: In reference to a subject threatening to take the complainant stuff. The complainant will come to the Monroe Police Department to make the report. The complainant wishes extra patrol for the residence until the report is taken. The call was handled by phone.
  • Fraud – S. Broad St. Complainant requested a report in reference to fraudulent charges on her card.
  • Suspicious Person – Broad St. and Spring St. reference to a white female blocking the crosswalks and yelling at passing cars. The subject was advised to stay out of the roadway.
  • Warrant – Towler St. Complainant stated that a subject was on location and had active warrants. Newton Co. confirmed the warrants but did not want to place a hold.
  • Drag Racing – Shops at Breedlove. Juveniles on location being disorderly and loud. They were sent on their way.
  • Dispute – E. Marable. In reference to complainant stating that while walking down Maple lane, a blue Kia passenger car attempted to hit him. A black male stepped out of the vehicle and brandished a firearm at the complainant. Report taken
  • Theft – Chestnut Cupboard. The complainant stated her phone was stolen out of her hand by her child’s father who fled the scene in a red Nissan pickup.
  • Traffic Offense – Monroe Motor Inn. Reference to a silver Ford Taurus stopped for a non- functioning brake light. An investigation into the traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine in the room registered to a named subject. A search warrant was executed and the subect was charged with possession of schedule II methamphetamine.
  • Prisoner transport – Tuner St. Marked unit assisted JointOps with prisoner transport from this address to MPD for interviews, all ok.
  • Theft report – HW78, Waffle House. in reference to an employee stealing money from a drawer of register and then walking off the job. Report taken.
  • Prisoner transport – South Broad St., MPD. Transported JointOps arrest from MPD to WCSO.
  • Theft report – Irving St. Mother advised daughters’ boyfriend took cell phone out of open window. Mother wanted boyfriend told to stay away. Advised Mother of remedies.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Holly Hill Rd. in reference to a young juvenile possibly 7- 8 years old driving a golf cart on roadway. Area was searched with negative contact.
  • EMS assist – E. Washington St. and Milledge Ave. EMS out with a driver asleep at the wheel. Driver, Subject was sleeping and not DUI, all ok.
  • Request to meet – G. W. Carver Dr. Ref to puppies under a house that needed to be removed and Animal Control refused to respond. All ok.
  • Suspicious vehicle – Walton Rd. and Meadowbrook Dr. Civil issue over a vehicle – the vehicle traveled into Walton County. WCSO advised.
