MPD Reports: Reports of overdose, mental health issues and domestic disputes

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 12 – 19, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – Ridge Road in reference to the complainant’s boyfriend is refusing to leave. He was involved in a domestic assault. Male arrested for Aggravated Assault, etc. 
  • Dispute – W Marable St.: Two parties were arguing. Claims of the female striking the male were made but no physical evidence to support the claim. Parties were advised of remedies.
  • Suspicious Person – Glenwood Dr.: In reference to subject on location starting a dispute. Parties separated.
  • Private Property Vehicle Collision – W. Spring St. (Murphy USA): Vehicle collided into a tanker truck. Report made.
  • Suspicious Vehicle) Hammond Park in reference to gutted vehicle recovered stolen out of E. Point PD. Towed to Jay’s.
  • Vehicle Accident – E. Spring Street / North Broad Street. report in Gears. One arrested for Driving Unlicensed.
  • Stolen Vehicle – Chestnut Ln. The caller advised that people were trying to steal her car. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the vehicle. The occupants had permission from the owner to drive the vehicle all was ok.
  • Shots Fired – Monroe Estates; Caller stated 3-4 shots were fired near the basketball courts. No signs of any shots being fired. Everyone in the area stated they did not hear any shots.
  • Mental Person – W. Spring St. in reference to the subject believing he was being harassed by people. All Ok.
  • Mental person – N Midland Ave. A subject on location wanting a ride to the ER. She advised that she did not want a ride with EMS. Upon making contact she advised that a male was on location and did not want to leave, but then left. She requested no further action.
  • Threats report – MPD; Subject stated a 15-16-year-old black male was threatening to shoot him and call him the police. The correct name for the subject was not known and the possible names provided were not found.
  • Foot Chase – Southside MHP; John Cross was arrested after a brief foot chase and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and obstruction. Joint OPS executed a search warrant on the house John was living and took several other subjects into custody.
  • Mental person – Huddle House. Male on location requesting a ride to the hospital, thoughts of hurting himself. Turned over to EMS.
  • Animal Complaint – Wheel House Lane in reference to a stray cat inside the home. Turned over to animal control.
  • Follow Up – MPD. In reference to meeting with the subject about her case. She was issued a citation for Disorderly conduct.
  • Harassment – Towler St. in reference to caller seeing another party from dispute incident the previous day. Advised to avoid the other party.
  • Damage to property – 1490 HWY 78 in reference to a Vehicle was damaged on 03/16/2020.
  • Fraud – E. Church St. – In reference to the complainant having multiple accounts opened in her name fraudulently.
  • Hit and run – Plaza Dr. in reference to a Chevrolet Blazer collided into two other vehicles and 5 black males fled the scene. The driver was identified and warrants were taken out for him.
  • Domestic – S. Broad St. – In reference to complainant needing a report due to domestic abuse.
  • Damaged Property – West Spring Street at Home Depot in reference to a vehicle damaged in the parking lot.
  • Theft – W. Spring St. (Harry’s Marathon): In reference to a stolen phone. The phone located was and returned to the owner. Declined a report.
  • Attempted burglary – King St. in reference to the residence back door was damaged. No one made an entry of the residence.
  • Drug Arrest – Sorrells Street at Rose Ison Terrace: In reference to a subject being arrested for Possession of Cocaine.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. in reference to caller arguing with mentally disabled neighbor who called the MFD on the caller for burning leaves.
  • Domestic – Sorrels St. Reference to a subject and his wife arguing in front of the apartment. He was arrested for warrants out of Winder.
  • Domestic – Ford S. in reference to a dispute between former spouse’s. Parties separated and report made.
  • Juvenile Complaint – In reference to juveniles throwing a trash can at complainants Nissan car. Damage was noted. Report taken.
  • Domestic – Baker St. in reference to subject leaving the house without mother’s permission. Mobley Subject located on Hammond Dr. and returned home. Alternative remedies advised.
  • Suspicious person – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton Medical in reference to an unknown w/f being dropped off unconscious by a w/m in a tan sedan who left the hospital. The female subject was identified who overdosed on meth out in the county and the male was idenitified. She was stable and turned over to the staff.
  • Theft in progress – Belle Meade. Complainant advised noise in the basement and rear door ajar. Residence cleared, all ok.
  • Roadway blockage – Michael Etchison Rd. near HW138. Ref to nails in the road. 2 nails, 1 screw and 1 piece of metal removed from the roadway. No other objects observed.
  • Mental – N. Midland Ave. The subject advised she wants treatment. She was Turned over to EMS.
  • Civil issue – Turner St. Ref to a vehicle, handled by phone. Complainant advised she wanted to report her Hertz rental vehicle stolen. Complainant advised her friend has not returned the vehicle. Complainant was advised of remedies.
  • Follow up – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Ref to this mornings’ overdose patient, all ok.
  • Dispute – N. Broad St., Suzzies Wings. Ref to a car in the drive thru. Handled by phone. Complainant advised a subject was calling the staff workers names. Complainant advised he will call next time the subject is on location to criminal trespass him.
  • Mental patient – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Ref to the patient from the previous call becoming aggressive with medical staff. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Church St. Subject on location asking people for money. Area checked, negative contact
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St. at Wal-Mart. Subject arrest for shoplifting $32.00 worth of items. She fingerprinted and released a on copy of citations.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad St. at Rose’s PCH – In reference to subject running in the road. Subject was advised of the dangers of running in the road. Subject said he would not do it again.
  • Dispute – S. Broad Dollar General- Verbal dispute between employee and customer. Customer was asked to leave the store. All ok.
  • Unknown – Wheeler St. Subject had fallen in her shower and could not get up. Got her out and she denied going to the hospital but got checked out by EMS and is ok.
  • Juvenile Problem – Mountain View Dr.. Juveniles running in the roadway yelling. Contact made with subject. Subjects were advised to keep the noise down. All ok
  • Suspicious Person – Lanius Ave; Complainant reported a black car in her driveway when she returned home from work. Complainant reported a black male then walked up to her house a short time later. Area checked with no contact.
