MPD Reports: Restaurant manager scammed by someone pretending to be from corporate

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period July 5 – 11, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Harassment – S. Broad St. – In reference to the complainant having an altercation with her neighbor the night before. Wanted incident documented. 
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad St.: White male with no shirt asking patrons for money. Officer made contact with the subjects.
  • Dispute – Old Mill Pointe EMS called in reference to a verbal dispute in the cul-de-sac. Area check conducted no dispute observed or heard. All ok at this time.
  • Fraud report – Reed St; The complainant reported his Social Security Number was used for a background check for an apartment rental in California.
  • Suspicious Person – Amicis in reference to a white male with no shirt on sleeping in front of the business.
  • Theft report – Springer Ln; Complainant reported $1,260 cash was taken from her purse inside her residence. Complainant believes the subject may have taken the money when she was at the residence to visit another subject.
  • 911 Hang Up – Tanglewood Dr. Dispatch advised a female caller was crying on the phone and they heard a male in the background. Officers made contact with the occupant of Unit B who advised he lived alone. Officers were unable to make contact with anyone in Unit A. All appeared ok.
  • Wanted Person – Tanglewood Dr.; Caller stated a wanted male was in a gray Tahoe located in the area. Officers observed a vehicle matching the description. The vehicle was stopped and the male driver was identified.
  • Mental Patient – Ridgeview; Complainant walked in seeking mental health treatment. He was transported by EMS to Piedmont Walton.
  • Dispute – Magnolia Terrace; The complainant reported a subject was at her residence intoxicated and being disrespectful. Subject gathered his property and left the residence.
  • Meet with – Walton County Sheriff’s Office; Subject had questions regarding the disposition of her son’s vehicle after an earlier Driving Under Influence arrest.
  • Scam – Wendy’s. The manager stated she was scammed by a caller who stated he was Corporate of Wendy’s. He advised her she needed to put money on gift cards and send them to him. She did send him $300. Report taken.
  • Area check – Tall Oaks W. The complainant stated that subjects were in his residence taking apart his walls. It was determined complainant was suffering from a mental disorder and everything was ok.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Birch St.; Mother stated her 11-year-old son has been leaving the residence without permission while on probation. Son was back home when Officer’s arrived and mother stated she would follow up with his probation officer in the morning.
  • Suspicious Person – Carver Pl. Officers observed Derreious Crutchfield and Robert Heard make a hand to hand drug transaction in the middle of Green St. Subjects walked away and were stopped on Carver Place and found to be in possession of Crack Cocaine. Both arrested and transported to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Unsecured Premise – Russell Dr.: Contacted parks and recreation due to a door on one of the pavilion’s had been pried open.
  • Suspicious persons – Lacy St. Officer observed the odor of marijuana. Observed a B/M with black shirt and black hat try to stay out of sight. Other officers arrived and the male seen moving around a vehicle in the driveway was located in the back yard. After identifying Shanga Dodson he was found to have a warrant for his arrest. Mr. Dodson had cash and scales in his pocket. With permission of resident who lives at that location and was not aware of who Mr. Dodson was a search of the area near the back door resulted in the finding of a bag of suspected marijuana. Mr. Dodson was placed under arrest for the warrant and an additional warrant will be taken for the possession of marijuana.
  • Dispute – Davis St. Complainant advised that subject was driving with no license and began to argue with him and another subject. All parties were separated and advised to stay away from one another. One subject was advised due to him having only a Ga. ID that he was not to be driving.
  • Meet With – S. Broad St.: Spoke to mother about her son who was arrested last date. All ok.
  • Dispute – Taylors Wrecker service. The subject was disputing with mother over picking up her son’s car after he was arrested.
  • Theft – Hwy 138 (Great Oaks Assist Living): Complainant stated that his mother is missing some jewelry from her room. Report taken.
  • Theft – MLKJR BLVD. (Zaxby’s) – In reference to an employee stealing cookies while on the clock. Management wanted a report for documentation.
  • Theft – Glen Iris Dr.: Neighbor across the street saw a black male with CAT shirt on take a bicycle from this residence. Homeowners are not home but advised the neighbor to inform homeowners when they are home. Advise to contact us if they want a report or see suspicious persons. Area was checked with negative contact.
  • Harassing Calls – Ridge Rd – In reference to the complainant having issues with a subject over text. Advised of options.
