MPD Reports: Robbery at Panera Bread involving alleged dating scam

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period June 13 – 20, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Robbery – Panera Bread: Complainant stated that he was meeting a girl for a date. She asked for money and he told her no. Upon doing so another male that she came with then told him if he did not give her the money that he was going to shoot him. Complainant gave them $110 as they left in a black passenger car. Report taken, no contact with vehicle of suspect. 
  • Escort – Glen Ave – Winder. Transported two arrestees’ for Criminal Investigation Division to MPD in reference to the robbery from last date.
  • Agency Assist / Traffic Stop – E. Spring St. GSP advised of a stolen vehicle (Toyota Corolla) on E. Spring St. Officers conducted a felony stop. Nicole Golden was charged with Driving without License, Disorderly Conduct, and 2 felony warrants out of Barrow and Clarke counties.
  • Damage to Property – Russell Dr. – Hammond Park in reference to toilets being destroyed in the bathrooms.
  • Wanted Person – Alcovy St. – State Probation in reference to Bobby Robinson on location with an active probation violation warrant. Bobby was arrested and turned over to Walton County Jail.
  • Dispute – W. Marable St. a couple disputing over living arrangements. Situation mediated and report taken.
  • EMS Assist – W. Spring St. – KFC in reference to subject passing out in the kitchen. Subject has a history of suicidal thoughts and self-mutilation. No threats of suicide. He refused treatment from EMS.  The subjects’ grandmother arrived on the scene and advised that she would look after him.
  • Damage to Property – Norris St. in reference to a damaged fence. Report taken.
  • Transport – at MPD. Two subjects transported to Walton County Jail for Criminal Investigation Division.
  • Dispute – E. Marable St. in reference to a previous theft. Two juveniles were detained and charged with theft by taking, conspiracy to commit a theft, and Disorderly Conduct. The juveniles were released to their guardians.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – W. Spring St. – Walmart in reference to a white van blocking the roadway. Vehicle was removed from the roadway. All 10-4.
  • Dispute – 6th St. in reference to a verbal dispute between two subjects over infidelity and living arrangements. Situation mediated. All ok.
  • Unknown / Suspicious Person) on Ash St. / Davis St. in reference to subject being drunk and lying in the roadway. He was checked on scene by Monroe Fire and taken home. All ok.
  • Fight – Old Mill Point. Officers made contact with citizens outside who advised no one was fighting. Officers then played a game of basketball with the teenagers.
  • Dispute – Maple Lane in reference to two subjects in a verbal argument over chicken wings.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St., Wal-Mart. Anthony Mathis arrested for felony shoplifting. Report made. Warrant to be taken.
  • Disturbing the peace – W. Marable St. Residence advised to keep it down, all ok.
  • Dispute – 3rd St. in reference to subjects getting into verbal dispute over cell phone. Parties will be separating. All Ok.
  • Dispute – Sweetgum Dr. and E. Hickory Dr. Area searched, negative contact with the complainant.  Complainant was located at Cook Place. Subject had her cellphone and brought it back to her while officers were on location.
  • Unsecure primes – N. Broad St., State Farm Insurance. Located during foot patrol, building cleared. Back door also found unsecure. Back door secured, attempted contact and left voicemail with key holder due to being unable to secure front door.
  • Dispute – S. Broad St. Two subjects were in a dispute about one of them throwing things in the residence looking for a blue tooth speaker. One subject advised the other subject threatened to stab her with a pen. No witnesses in reference to the threat. While officers were on the scene, voluntary consent was given to search the residence for the blue tooth speaker. Officers had negative contact with the speaker. One subject was asked to leave the location.
  • Theft – MPD Lobby in reference to complainant reporting his JBL Bluetooth speaker stolen. He stated it was stolen by a subject who lives at S. Broad St. Officers were already on location due to a separate call. The residence was searched with consent from the owner for the speaker with negative findings. The speaker will not be listed on GCIC due to the lack of a serial number. Report taken.
  • Runaway Juvenile – Ridge Rd. in reference to 17-year-old missing from the residence. Mother stated that her son hasn’t been seen or heard from since yesterday afternoon. Officer checked friend’s residence at Ridge Rd with negative contact. While on location subject had a medical episode and was turned over to EMS. Officer was advised that missing juvenile was possibly at some studio in the area. Juvenile was placed on GCIC as missing/runaway. Juvenile complaint completed.
