MPD Reports: Shoplift charges, drug arrest and domestic disputes dominate

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Aug. 13 – 20, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

Dispute – 6th St. – Husband and Wife had an argument, going through a separation. Parties separated for the night. 

Fight – Davis St. In reference to a large fight on location. Upon investigation, it was a continuation of the many fights in the area. Subject broke a window at Lacy St. Juvenile intake notified and juvenile complaint form completed. 

Suspicious Person – McDaniel St. In reference to reports of suspicious person on location. Made contact with subject, advised that his wife was having a mental health episode (dementia). All OK. 

Shoplifting – Wal-Mart – Shoplifters taken to PD, fingerprinted, and released with court summons. 

Firearms – Carwood Dr. Two callers advised of shots discharged in the area. Conducted an area check no contact all seems 10-4 at this time. 

Traffic Stop – St. Albans Church. Traffic stop on white Nissan Altima for failure to maintain lane. Upon approach, the strong odor of marijuana was detected. Driver refused to exit the vehicle and was removed and detained. Probable cause search was conducted. Driver was arrested for Obstruction, FTML, No Tag Lights and Broken Headlight. 

Dispute – East Fambrough St. Ref to a male and female arguing, male was gone on foot prior to arrival and the female was inside the residence refused to come to the door. Area was checked with negative contact. 

Dispute – Custom Way. Subject advised his neighbor hit him. He was checked out by EMS. After investigation it was determined due to conflicting stories no charges were taken. The neighbor was issued a criminal trespass. 

Lost item – West Spring St., Elete Storage. Ref to a lost iPhone now pinging in the Woodland Rd. area. 

Juvenile problem – Ash Ln. in reference to 15-year-old granddaughter not wanting to go to school. Remedies were advised to the grandmother. 

Shoplifting – West Spring St., Walmart. Subject was arrested for a felonious shoplifting amount. Warrant taken for shoplifting. 

Dispute – Hill St. in reference to mother and daughter disputing, both parties were separated and advised of remedies. 

Harassment – West Spring St., Monroe Public Library. Ref to harassing phone calls. Complainant was advised of temporary protection order and other remedies. 

Shoplifting – West Spring St., Walmart. Female subject was released on copy of citation after fingerprinting. 

Dispute – Chestnut Ln. In reference to complainant having a dispute with girlfriend’s sister. Civil dispute, all remedies advised. Report taken. 

Dispute – Green St In reference to verbal dispute between complainant’s son and daughter. Son was gone when officers arrived. Female on location advised all is ok and no physical altercation occurred. 

Traffic Stop – M.L.K JR Blvd at Shoppes of Monroe. Vehicle was stopped for not using its right turn signal. Probable cause search was conducted. Marijuana was located on the subject. Subjected was issued a citation for 62-3 Poss of Marijuana. Report taken. 

Dispute – Elm Dr. In reference to a juvenile complainant stating that their parents are disputing inside the residence. Female advised she was in a verbal dispute with her boyfriend who was gone when officers arrived. Report taken. 

Traffic Stop – Carwood Dr at Henson Dr. Vehicle was stopped for no tag light. While asking the driver for his dirver’s license, officer observed a baggy containing marijuana laying on the driver’s seat next to the driver. A probable cause search was conducted. After investigation the driver was taken into custody for OCGA 40-8-23 Tag Light, OCGA 62-3 Poss. Of Marijuana, OCGA 40-6-391 D.U.I of Alcohol, OCGA 40-6-253 Open Container. The subject was finger printed and released on copy. Report taken.
