MPD Reports: Stolen vehicle, animal complaint, Juvenile fight

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period May 1 – 8, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Stolen Vehicle – S. Broad St. – MPD Lobby in reference to a 1979 Chevrolet El Camino -GA TAG RNA3072 being taken from Nowell Street. The vehicle was placed on GCIC. Handled by Criminal Investigation Div. 
  • Traffic Stop – Forest Lane. Nicholas Charo was stopped for driving on a suspended license. He was taken into custody and during a pat down, a quantity of methamphetamine was located in his pocket. After a consent to search the vehicle was given, a glass pipe was located. Charo was taken to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office on Driving while license suspended, Possession of Sch II, and Possession of Drug Rel Objects.
  • Theft Report / Civil Matter – Store House Ct in reference to complainant stating two suspects took two of her metal lawn chairs from her property. The two suspects were gone on arrival. Complainant stated the chairs were given to her by her old neighbors which one of the suspects’  used to live with. Report taken.
  • Juvenile Complaint – Victory Dr. in reference to Rosa Gomez stating her 12-year-old daughter cut her finger while fighting with another juvenile on her bus ride home from Carver Middle School. The school SRO was notified, and a report was completed for documentation.
  • Warrant Served – S. Madison Ave at the Walton County Jail – Wesley Thompson Jr., in custody on multiple warrants, including Failure to appear out of MPD.
  • Domestic – E. Spring St. / S. Hammond Dr. in reference to a dispute between two subjects. The situation was mediated.
  • Animal Bite – Meadow Trace in reference to a dog bite. Turned over to Walton County Animal Control.
  • Found Property – W. Spring St. (Piedmont Walton): Security Officer found security covers for games and a book bag from WalMart in the parking lot. I returned the items to LPO who is an employee of WalMart.
  • Wanted Person – S. Broad St.: Michael Hancock arrested for probation violation warrant out of Walton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • Wanted Person – E. Spring St. and N. Midland Ave.: Samantha Hopkins arrested for active Walton County SO warrants after a brief struggle. Samantha was also cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Vehicle Pursuit – in reference to Georgia State Patrol chasing a vehicle from Davis St.at S. Madison to a residence on S. Madison Ave.  Monroe units were not involved in the chase but provided assistance.
  • Traffic Stop – Davis St. and Magnolia St. in reference to subject being stopped for tag light violation. He  had a suspended drivers’ license.  He was fingerprinted and released.
