The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Sept. 24 – Oct. 1, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.
Just after midnight on Sept. 28, officers from Monroe Police Department were called to a wreck on Michael Etchison Road. According to the incident report, the gold passenger Honda passenger car driven by an unknown suspect ran off the road striking a parked truck and tearing up a yard before coming to a stop. When police arrived, no driver or passengers were on site. The registered owner was contacted and she advised that she had sold the car but it was still in her name as she was paying it off. The purchaser was contacted, who advised that the vehicle appeared to have been stolen. Neither she or anybody else appeared to have been involved in any accident. The owner of the truck reported about $1,000 damage to his vehicle and the Honda was allegedly totaled. Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the stolen vehicle report and noted that the person in whose possession the vehicle had been noted that it must have been taken sometime between 11.30 p.m. and midnight. She said she believes she left the keys in the car.
The vehicle appeared to also have rolled during the wreck. The person who was driving it at the time was not located.
The following incidents also appeared in the MPD reports for this period.
Dispute – Bridgeport Pl. In reference to dispute between complainant and mother. Spoke with complainant via telephone, and she stated that subject could not stay at her residence tonight. Subject does not reside with his mother. Subject stated he would walk to a friends’ house. All ok.
Dispute – E Spring St. Monroe Motor Inn. In reference to complainant advising that they woke up to someone yelling at them. Radio attempted to make contact with the complainant due to them not advising a room number. Radio advised negative contact. Area checked on foot by officer, negative
Contact. Subjects in the parking lot advised they did not hear or see anyone that was or could be in danger. All appears ok.
Accident – Michael Etchison Road. In reference to a gray passenger car in the ditch. The driver fled the scene and vehicle was reported to Walton County Sheriff’s Office as stolen. Spillman report, Gears report, and WCSO report taken.
Disturbing the Peace – Ridge Road In reference to loud music from a party. Noise was quieted upon officer’s arrival.
Animal Complaint – Green St. In reference to either a snake tail or a lizard tail sticking out of the door near the garage. Complainant advised that they are going to stay with a family member for the night and contact pest control in the morning.
Other Law – W Spring St. Walmart. In reference to the complainant advising that her daughter was reported missing in Atlanta and the detective on the case advised the complainant to standby with officers to check the welfare of the juvenile. Officer was able to speak with the Sergeant in Atlanta and the child was taken off of GCIC.
Dispute – Douglas Street: In reference to Subject getting into a verbal argument with his brother. Situation mediated and remedies were given.
Damage to Property – Cook Place – Complainant stated the front window of her apartment was broken sometime between the hours of 1500 and 2200 yesterday the 27th. Report taken.
Damage to Property – Bryant Road. – Complainant stated the rear windshield to her vehicle was shattered sometime between Saturday afternoon and this morning. Report taken.
Harassment – Mountain View Drive: In reference to complainant being harassed by ex-roommate who was evicted out this date by WCSO. Complainant wanted the incident to be documented. Report made.
Suspicious Person – S Broad St Chevron. Subject on location asking people for money. Subject was asked to leave the property.
Other Law – Green Street: In reference to having questions on verbal contracts and eviction process. Remedies given and situation mediated.
Dispute – West Spring Street (Boost Mobile) In reference to a patron not wanting to leave the store. Patron was gone when officers arrived.
Fraud – Wellington Lane: In reference to subjects’ Credit card and new checking account had charges on it that she didn’t make. Report taken.
Dispute – Tanglewood Drive in reference to custody dispute. Parties referred to proper courts.
Stolen Vehicle – Highland Creek Dr – Reference to complainant reporting subject had not returned a work truck when he was supposed to. Vehicle returned. No charges filed.
Fraud – Holly Hill Rd – in reference to someone using complainants’ name to open four lines with sprint, leaving just over $2600 in debt that was sent to a debt collector. Report taken.
Domestic Dispute – Towler St. – Reference to complainant stating that her Ex-Boyfriend attacked her. Complainant uncooperative during report. Subject was gone when officers arrived. The area searched for subject, negative contact. Report taken
Suspicious Person – McDaniel St – Monroe Fire Department and EMS requested officer to respond to call of patient with difficulty breathing. Upon the arrival officer spoke with all witnesses on scene and scene was turned over to EMS. No police action required.
Harassment – Knight St – in reference to complainant receiving unwanted calls from subject. Subject would also drive by her house. report taken.
Unknown Law – S. Broad St. Citizen wanted to give officers political campaign posters. Subject was extremely intoxicated. He was advised of MPD gift / gratuity policy.
Dispute – South Broad St/Atha St – in reference to a Non- domestic dispute. Parties were separated and mediated. All ok
EMS Assist – Hwy 138 (Great Oaks): In reference to a patient being in an altered mental state and might become combative when going to Piedmont Walton Hospital. Turned over to EMS.
Other Law – Atha Street: In reference to subject still on location and was told she needed to leave the property. Complainant gave subject a lift to her residence in Watkinsville.
Found Property – East Spring Street: in reference to a brown wallet.
Dispute – Maple Street: in reference to complainant reporting there may be a dispute in the future at this location. All ok presently. Complainant was advised to call if a dispute occurred.
