MPD Reports: Suicide attempt by rat poisoning; reports of kidnap by rival drug gang

The City of Monroe Police Department is reporting the following incidents for the period March 12 – 19, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the fourth part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Suspicious Person – Hwy 138, Tractor Supply in reference to a homeless subject on location behind the store. Subject was sent on his way. 
  • Extra Patrol – Oak Ridge in reference to a subject being kidnapped by a rival drug gang in Newton County and concerned for the safety of his family.
  • Traffic stop – E. Marable St. and Roosevelt St. Subject arrested for Driving While License Suspended and failure to stop at a stop sign.
  • Lost item – Cook Pl. Complainant advised her SR-22 handgun has been stolen. Complainant stated the last time she’s seen it was approximately October. Report taken and handgun has been entered into GCIC.
  • Traffic Stop – N. Broad St. and the Card Station. A blue Ford Focus was stopped for an expired tag. The driver was found to have suspended licenses. He was served with notice of suspension and released to a licensed driver.
  • Mental patient – S. Broad St., Southside MHP in reference to a subject having a mental episode. Turned over to EMS.
  • Theft report – W. Spring St. Ref to a muffler taken from a parked vehicle.
  • Traffic stop – E. Spring St., and Dollar General. The subject was arrested for Driving While License Suspended.
  • Dispute – N. Madison Ave. Repeated dispute between parties. Complainant advised neighbor was in his yard yelling at him. The suspect was advised to stay in his yard.
  • Follow up – N. Broad St. Observed the same Subject from N. Broad in the Street. Advised his girlfriend to keep him the yard or he would be arrested for public intoxication.
  • EMS Assist – Pine Park. Subject conscious but not alert, possibly related to consuming narcotics. Turned over to EMS.
  • Missing Persons – E. Church St, spoke with a complainant who advised her granddaughter was missing. Report will be made, entered into GCIC, she was located at Longhorns and transported home at 2028 on 03/15/2020.
  • Suspicious Person – Piedmont Walton -In reference to subject walking around the parking lot asking people for a ride home. Contact was made with the subject’s mother who stated she was going to come to get him. The subject was given a ride to the W. Spring St. Waffle House to wait for his mother there.
  • Suspicious Person – E Church and Baron Dr. Subjects in the area riding a go-kart in the roadway. Area checked. All ok
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Overlook Crest. – In reference to an unknown person knocking at the complainant’s door and getting into a gray car. The area was checked with negative contact.
  • Intoxicated Person – S. Broad Street. Subject arrested for DUI after riding a motorcycle without a license plate, helmet or headlight on S. Broad St. He was then refused at WC Jail for having an oral temperature of 99.2 and released on copies of citations at his residence.
  • Suspicious Person – Belle Meade: In reference to people taking items from subject. Made contact with two individuals who had permission to remove trash. All is okay. Situation was mediated.
  • Dispute – Bridgeport Place: In reference to complainant in a verbal argument with her son’s father over visitation and child support. Report made.
  • Civil Matter – S. Broad St. (Southside Mobile Home Park): In reference to a subject having a question in regards to his lease agreement with the landlord.
  • Harassing phone calls – at MPD in reference to complainant wanting to report harassing communications. Harassment occurred in Barrow County. Advised on TPO and reporting process.
  • Suicide Attempt – S Madison Avenue; FISH: In reference to subject ingesting rat poising. He was transported to Piedmont Walton.
