MPD Reports: Suicide attempt; victim struck in head with liquor bottle

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period March 12 – 19, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the third part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Citizen flag down – S. Broad St., MPD. Complainant reports her 22-year-old granddaughter possibly being held against her will at Plaza Dr. 
  • Welfare check/Follow up – Plaza Dr. Subject (id verified) was on location and advised missing person was not home.
  • Suspicious vehicle – W. Spring St., McDonald’s. Reference to a Cadillac SUV with children unsecured in the drive-thru. Vehicle was gone on arrival.
  • Dispute – Douglas St. Complainant advised that he wanted the subject kicked out of his residence. Complainant was advised on the eviction process.
  • Citizen flag down – Church St. and Pine Park St. Citizen advised that the runaway juvenile was with the father. Follow up conducted on the previous call.
  • Dispute – MLK Jr. Blvd., Checkers. Complainant wanted the subject to exit his vehicle. Parties separated, all ok.
  • Follow up – Jessica Way. Ref to verifying and removing juvenile from GCIC, all ok.
  • Citizen flag down – N. Broad St., Golden Pantry. Subject requesting to know which fuel to use in a lawnmower, advised of remedies.
  • Damage to property – W. Spring St., Tokyo. Ref to subject damaging window to business.
  • Suicide attempt – West Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Subject was dropped off at the ER after slitting her wrists and left before treatment. Subject denied all treatment from medical staff, EMS, and MPD, no mental evaluation was signed. Mental evaluation was signed 30 min later, officers were released by nightshift.
  • Threats – Baker St. Complainant advised that the subject sent verbal text messages threatening to harm her. Case will need to be followed up by the Criminal Investigation Division. Report taken.
  • Other Law – S. Broad at Johns Supermarket, The subject advised he purchased meat from John’s, which did not change color after being cooked. Requested that a report be made.
  • Shoplifting – W. Spring St; Walmart. William Akins arrested for shoplifting and ROC.
  • EMS Assist – Baron Dr. in reference to call subject was intoxicated and had fallen and busted her head. Turned over to EMS.
  • Damage to Property – at McDonalds – in reference to someone driving a black Charger backed into complainants’ parked vehicle and drove off. A witness reported he saw it happen and let the complainant know.
  • Firearms – W. Highland Ave. Area checked due to a report of 5-7 shots followed by someone screaming. No contact with any persons in the area.
  • Welfare check – Hwy 78; Waffle House. Complainant advised an unknown subject is sleeping in his vehicle. Subject advised he stopped and ate. Subject advised he was taking a nap before headed back to Milledgeville, GA. The Waffle House staff on location advised it is ok for him to stay. All ok
  • Dispute – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton. Reference subject on location causing a disturbance. Subject is a mental patient and was secured in soft restraints by medical staff. All ok
  • Assault report – W. Spring St., Piedmont Walton in reference to a victim being struck in the head with a liquor bottle by subject at the Deer Acres Inn.
  • Follow up – N. Broad St., Deer Acers Inn. Officers made contact and observed video.
  • Follow up – E. Marable St. Hot Spot. The store clerk advised he was able to get license plate information from a shoplifter, that occurred on 1 March 2020. Supplemental added to the original case number.
  • Traffic stop – Church St. and Lumpkin. Ref to 18-wheeler violating truck route, the driver had a suspended license out of NC. Vehicle removed by Taylor’s, driver released on copy.
