MPD Reports: Traffic stop and search by K9 Ciro result in cocaine trafficking charges

The City of Monroe reported the following incidents for the period of March 1 – 6, 2019.  Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Wanted person – Alcovy Street. Transported Frances Larsen to Walton County Sheriff’s Office on violation of probation warrant.
  • Welfare Check – Ridge Road (West Monroe Villas): Complainant stated she hasn’t seen neighbor since February 28th and she was concerned. Made entry and subject was lying on the bathroom floor breathing but not coherent. She was turned over to EMS.
  • Unknown Law – Cook Street: Female called and said she wanted to kill herself. Male and Female verbally disputing but male said he called and said he wanted to kill himself. Male was transported to Walton Piedmont by EMS for a mental evaluation.  The male subject does have a Violation of Probation warrant out of WCSO, about which the hospital was advised.
  • Theft – Alcovy Street., – Complainant advised someone stole the front tires off of his two bicycles. Report taken.
  • Traffic Stop/Arrest Charoltte Rowell Blvd./Highway 78: Jason Armstrong was arrested for driving on suspended license.
  • Suspicious Person – West Spring Street. Complainant sells items including guns through an online auction all over and met a subject today.  The complainant said before selling the item he asked for the guy’s ID and other required documents, and that is when the subject became very suspicious.  The complainant said he noticed a second vehicle positioned behind him and he decided he needed to leave. He took pictures of both tags. The complainant said he’s never had an issue before but he was advised he could come to the police department parking lot for future sells.
  • Dispute G.W. Homes in ref. to complainant calling wanting her tag of a vehicle she sold to a subject. The tag and documents were returned to the complainant.  All ok.
  • Wanted Person- Alcovy St. (State Probation): Angela Townsend transported to WCSO on Violation of Probation warrant.
  • Assault – West Spring St. (Martial Arts Motivate) The complainant stated he was assaulted by a subject behind his business. Report Taken.
  • Traffic Stop On Hwy 78 in ref. to Gregory Robbins and Kyle Moody being stopped for traffic violations. Mr. Robbins was the driver and denied a search of his vehicle. Ofc. Gee ha K9 Ciro conduct a free air sniff on the exterior of the vehicle. K9 Ciro indicated on the exterior of the vehicle. A probable Cause search led to officers locating approximatively 10 ounces of Cocaine. Mr. Robbins and Mr. Moody were both charged with Trafficking Cocaine. They were transported to Walton County Jail.
  • Stolen Vehicle Tractor supply. The complainant stated his vehicle broke down around 2100 hours last night. He then parked the vehicle and when he returned this date the vehicle was gone. Report taken vehicle placed on GCIC.
  • Burglary in Progress Carwood Dr. ref. to a W/F that came in through the window. Officers made contact with the suspicious female, who in fact walked into the residence through the front door. The residents advised they knew her, but she did not have permission to be on location. Prosecution was declined. Due to the subject’s mental state, she was taken to Piedmont Walton for a mental health evaluation. All ok.
  • Traffic Stop on W. Spring St. at the Monroe Library. Vehicle stopped for multiple violations. Chad McCart, the driver, was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and no insurance. He acquired insurance on scene. He was released on copy of citations.
  • Traffic Stop on W. Spring St. William Roberts and Jennifer Boyer were arrested for possession of meth.
  • Burglary Report Ridge Rd.- Complainant stated that she came home to find that someone broke into her apt. through the back window. Nothing was found missing. Possible suspect named.  Complainant also wanted to report that she witnessed the same subject take her PS4 from her apartment last date. She did not want to file charges at this time but requested a report.
  • Suspicious Person W. Spring St. at WalMart – Estill Combs was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and other charges in the parking lot.
