MPD Reports: Woman allegedly robbed of purse containing $2,300; Man seriously injured in wreck

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period Jan. 16 – 23, 2020. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the first part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Dispute – Reed Place: In reference to Mother leaving the residence and almost striking the complainant. The other party was gone on arrival. Report taken. 
  • Suspicious Person – N. Broad St. (J&B Food Mart): In reference to male subjects refusing to leave.
  • Dispute – Green St.: in reference to a verbal argument between mother and her son. Parties separated.
  • Warrant Service – Lacy St. Giovannie Rivera had a Failure to Appear warrant with this agency. Arrest made.
  • Suspicious Person – Church S. and S. Madison Ave. – In reference to a male subject with no shirt in the roadway. Area checked with negative contact.
  • Dispute – Douglas St. Ongoing problems with kids in the road disputing and fighting. Made contact with parents and advised to keep kids away from each other.
  • Dispute – Etten Dr. in reference to a mother who thinks her son has a warrant for his arrest. Son did not have a Probation Violation warrant.
  • Dispute – W. Creek Cir. Father in a verbal dispute with his son because he was drinking beer. He was advised that it was not illegal, and how to handle.
  • Burglary – Plaza Dr. in reference to the complaint’s front door was kicked in. The complainant’s X Box and shoes were stolen. The X Box was placed on GCIC.
  • Welfare check – Bridgeport Ln. The complainant stated he was home alone and has not seen his mother or father since Thursday morning. Made contact with his mother via phone she stated she had got off of work and went to buy a car. On the way home the vehicle broke down, they were at this time in Monroe and advised all was ok.
  • Dispute – Davis St. Complainant in a verbal dispute with his girlfriend, she was intoxicated and would not leave the location. His son arrived and gave her a ride home.
  • Dispute – Tall Oaks E. Mother advised that her 17-year-old daughter had broken into her bedroom and stole her earnings. Earrings were returned back to the mother.
  • Robbery – Walmart W. Spring. The complainant stated she was robbed by three men as they grabbed her purse with $2300 and drove off from Cook Place. She then drove to Walmart to Report the incident. Criminal Investigation Division notified. Report Made.
  • Suspicious person – S. Broad St., Southside MHP. The complainant stated a suspicious W/M with no shirt running between the trailers and approaching her step-daughter. The male ran towards Conestoga. While checking the area on foot, officers heard a loud bang that sounded like a single gunshot.
  • Suspicious person – in the area of W. Vine St., Conestoga MHP. Two officers heard loud noises coming from the area while on foot in Southside looking for a suspect from the previous call. Area searched with negative contact.
  • Unsecure premises – N. Broad St., Peyton Pettus State Farm insurance. Located open door during foot patrol, building cleared. Alarm went off while officers were in building, unable to re- secure, all ok.
  • Unsecure premises – N. Broad St., Wayfarer Sun Room. Located open door during foot patrol, building cleared and re-secured, all ok.
  • Entering auto – Gatewood Way. The complainant advised his vehicle was entered overnight. His bank card and social security card were taken. Report taken.
  • Foot patrol – in the area of the Gatewood Subdivision. Area searched for other entering autos overnight.
  • Juvenile complaint – King St. 15-year-old juvenile mad over clothing. Got dressed, and went to school, all ok.
  • Entering auto – Gatewood Way. Located during foot patrol of subdivision. Complainants’ two unlocked vehicles were entered during the night. Nothing was taken, report declined.
  • Assault – S. Broad St. Complainant reports she got slapped by a male on Sunday at Atha St. Declined a report but asked for EMS due to being one month pregnant. Turned over to EMS.
  • Warrant attempt – Etten Dr. Suspect arrested for parole warrant.
  • Vehicle accident with injuries and roadway blockage – Highway 78 exit to Highway 138. Ref to a commercial tanker loaded with fuel vs. Ford Taurus. 70-year-old male transported to Athens with a possible broken neck. Turned over to GSP.
