MPD Reports: Woman charged with DUI after motorcycle wreck

The City of Monroe Police Department reported the following incidents for the period June 27 to July 3, 2019. Due to the length, this report has been split into five parts. This is the final part. Please note an arrest or charge does not constitute a conviction.

  • Theft – Sorrells St. Third party called on behalf of a complainant. The complainant stated that a subject threatened her and snatched her wallet from her neck and took $200 cash. Her sister recovered the wallet but not the money. The complainant admitted that it was in reference to prior drug transactions. Criminal Investigation Division notified. Report taken.
  • Theft – Cook St. and Cook Pl. Complainant stated that his sister had his SSI check and would not give it to him. Officer spoke to sister on the phone who stated she just arrived back in town and would drop the check off at his mother’s residence.
  • Accident – Masters Dr. Two vehicles with no injuries. Chandler Murphy arrested for DUI less safe and improper passing. He was taken to the Walton County Jail.
  • Violent Dispute – Davis St. in reference to two subjects disputing over money. Conflicting stories on both parties. One subject was transported to Piedmont on the complaint of chest pain. Situation mediated. Report taken.
  • Warrant Served – Alcovy St. – Newton County Jail in reference to Christopher Stephens being ready for pick up. Stephens was transported to the MPD and then released to the jail.
  • Civil Issue – N. Broad St. – Monroe Food in reference to meeting a subject regarding a vehicle on Booth Drive. Vehicle was towed by owner off the property.
  • Illegal Dumping – Plaza Dr. – Your Extra Attic in reference to complainant reporting subject dumping trash along the roadway. The complainant stated she has observed subject throw items from her vehicle on several occasions. Officer attempt to make contact with the subject at Plaza Drive with negative contact.
  • Suspicious Vehicle – Masters Dr. in reference to a black SUV that was involved in an accident on location last date. The vehicle is a 2008 black Cadillac SRX. Vehicle was not removed by the driver’s family last date. It was tagged with a 72- hour notice.
  • Unknown Problem – New Lacy St. in reference to Charlie Lee Jordan passed out intoxicated lying in the driveway sleeping. The subject has an active warrant out of Monroe Police for intoxication, but he was transported to Piedmont Walton Hospital.
  • Scam Report – Green St. in reference to Complainant receiving a call from a male subject claiming to be FBI. She was advised she had a warrant out of Texas and was asked for her personal information. The complainant gave out her social security number, name, and birth date. She was later advised by a friend the call was a scam. Report taken.
  • Suspicious vehicle – W. Spring St., WalMart. Ref to a white car with white female in it. Several white cars in parking lot located. All ok
  • Reckless Car – Broad St. and Alcovy St. – Turned over to Walton County Sheriff’s Office after it left the city jurisdiction.
  • Discharging Firearms – in the area of Sorrells St. – Negative contact with any firearms being discharged.
  • Traffic stop – at HWY 78 EB and Minerva. – Owen Hunt was arrested for possession of marijuana.
  • Suspicious vehicle – HW11 coming into the city. Ref to a black charger Failure to maintain lane. Call canceled due to vehicle turning before arriving at the city limit.
  • Discharging Firearms – S. Madison Ave. and Davis St. Negative Contact.
  • Suspicious Person – Davis St. – Suspect walking in the area carrying a rake.  All okay.
  • Accident with injuries – S. Broad S. – Single vehicle accident vs utility pole. Power pole split in two, Monroe Utilities notified.
  • Follow Up – Davis St. Complainant said he recovered one of his bicycles.  The complainant said he was still missing 5 bicycles.  He advised he was told Lacy St. had bicycles behind the residence and after walking behind the apartments on foot I did not locate any more bicycles matching the descriptions he provided.  Supplement to be added.
  • Domestic – Sorrells St. Robert Layde has a stay-away order as part of his probation. Subject was arrested for Aggravated Stalking.
  • Meet With – S. Broad St.: In reference to a hole on the side of his mobile home. Complainant declined a report at this time.
  • Civil Matter -W. Fambrough St.: Complainant wanted question answered about lease contract. She had no documents to show proof of residence. The complainant was explained the Civil Process.
  • Dispute – W. Spring St. – In reference to customer not leaving the store. Customer left store once told to leave
  • Assist with Traffic – 4th St. / S. Broad St.; In reference to Monroe Power replacing a damage power pole from earlier accident this date.
  • Burglary – S. Broad St. Vacant lot that possibly was left unlocked. Known subject was inside but did not damage or steal.  He served with Criminal Trespass warning.
  • Lost Item – MPD – In reference to Complainant losing tag from motorcycle. Report taken.
  • Suspicious Person – E. Marable St.  Advised a black male just walked in his house and is laying on his couch.  Subject was invited over by a son. Son said his father does not want subject over. The subject is 19. Advised of civil process. All ok.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad St.: White female was changing clothes behind a bush and talking to a radio. Female was gone when officers arrived but the same female described was seen walking down North Broad Street earlier.
  • Missing Juvenile – S. Broad St.: Complainant stated that DFACS wanted her to make a report for not knowing where the missing juvenile was at. Complainant has no right to the juvenile and has spoken with her this morning on this date.
  • Theft – Wayne St. – In reference to locating phone deposited in box at Walmart. Complainant needed paperwork to get the phone back.
  • Lost Item – Nowell St. Complainant reporting her phone lost because Metro PCS will not turn off the phone without a police report.
  • Damage to Property – Reed St. – In reference to the complainant having mailbox knocked down. Report taken.
  • Assault – W. Spring St.: Complainant (12) said a subject, who is the program director at the Boys and Girls Club, pushed her into a brick wall causing pain in her back. The complainant complained of back pain but no visible injuries.  The complainant said this occurred due to her being accused of cussing.  Spoke to subject at the Boys and Girls Club who hada visible injury to her left upper arm area.  Also spoke to other staff members. No video surveillance in the room this occurred in. Report taken.
  • Dispute – Davis St.: The complainant stated that subject and her were arguing over keeping the residence clean. Parties separated situation mediated.
  • Suspicious Person – Davis Street.  The caller stated a male was sitting on his back porch and he didn’t know who he was.  Contact was made with a male subject.  It was determined that the parties knew one another and all was ok.
  • Burglary – Hill St.  Complainant advised that his residence was broken into between June 2 at 1400 and June 3 at 2015 hours.  No signs of forced entry.  He reported a play-station 3 and an x-box 360 was taken along with approximately 30 video games.  He did not have the serial numbers to the devices at this time
  • Dispute – Breedlove Dr; Gold Cross EMS requested assistance with a mental patient. Ridgeview staff was able to handle the incident without assistance.
  • Theft – Ash Ln./W. Creek Cir. While on an area check complainant flagged down the Officer to report a theft of her phone.  She stated a male subject took her phone.
  • During the course of the investigation, the complainant found her phone at Ash Ln. in the vicinity of a male subject.  She did not wish for a report to be made.
  • Discharging Firearms – Sorrells St.  Caller did not wish to meet.  Officer patrolled the area and had negative contact with any gunshots.  Officer spoke to subjects who were outside in the area who stated they did not hear anything.
  • Suspicious Person – S. Broad/Your Pie.  The subject was sitting on the bench.  She came back as a missing person out of Athens.  Dispatch advised since she was located all ok.
  • Vehicle Accident – N. Broad St./GW Carver Dr.  Vehicle Vs. motorcycle, injury by complaint. The female motorcycle driver was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol less safe, no helmet, and expired tag. The other driver was cited for failure to yield right of way while turning left.
  • Dispute – Nowell St. Two subjects on location in a verbal dispute. Nothing physical and one subject left for the night, report taking for documentation.
