The Picnic Basket, a chef-driven meal market food option, announced on social media recently that it will be opening up in Monroe in the near future.
“Well- our secret is out!! We will be opening store number 2 within weeks. Our new addition to the Picnic Basket Meal Market family is located at 1966 W. Spring St in Monroe Ga. We’ve got a few more signatures and approvals to go before we can unlock the door- but we will keep you guys posted!! We are very excited to bring Walton county the Picnic Basket experience!”
The sign is already up between Financial World and Signature Nails at the Paradise Shoppes of Monroe shopping center.
According to the website, the “goal at the Picnic Basket is to provide convenient top quality fare at an affordable price to accommodate the lack of quality time the modern day family faces. We call ourselves a Meal Market. Think of a grocery store where you pick up your goods already washed, chopped and prepared and cooked into a delicious meal. All you have to do is heat and eat! The bonus we add is all this is done by a local chef. Our meals are sold in portions of 2 servings to accommodate the size of your household or appetite.”
The selections change daily basis depending on seasonal food changes and consumer requests or demand. This is a food market and not a restaurant so there is not a set menu. Selections are given on social media pages.
The first meal market is located in Watkinsville and is very popular, even with local Monroe residents. The announcement of a Monroe location was greeted with excitement by local foodies who were very pleased to know that they will soon have the additional food resource on their own doorstep.
