Martha Blasingame Hanson, age 92, of Monroe, died on March 18, 2019. She was born in Walton County to the late Clara Belle Whitley Blasingame and the late Beverly Fred Blasingame. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Floyd Hanson.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Billy Conner of Monroe; grandchildren: Tracy and Jeff Rutledge of Macon, Leigh Ann Walker, Michael and Lisa Conner all of Monroe; great-grandchildren: Emily, Caroline, Thomas, and Will Rutledge, and Noah Conner; special friend, Joe Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Hanson was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church and was one of the original members that began this congregation as Pannell Presbyterian Church. She was treasurer of the Presbyterian Women, a choir member for 70+ years, and received an Honorary Life Membership, a special recognition given by Presbyterian Women (PCUSA), in honor of her decades of faithful service to the church and the Irene Nowell Circle at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. At one time or another, she covered all the bases and then some. She continued to love, serve, and touch the lives of countless others. She was also a member of the Pilot Club.
Mrs. Hanson worked at B & C Trucking as a bookkeeper for over 40 years. She retired from full-time employment there at the age of 84.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 3:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, following a visitation from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Interment will be at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe at PO Box 784 Monroe, GA 30655.
