Obituary and funeral service: Terry ‘Paw’ Adams, 72, of Monroe

Terry “Paw” Adams, age 72, of Monroe, Georgia formerly of Lawrenceville, Georgia, died on Saturday, June 1, 2019 after suffering a massive heart attack. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 50 years, Carole Carter Adams; son, Reece & Amber Adams of Social Circle, GA and their children Logan & Cole Hicks; son, Brian & Cissi Adams of Cartersville, GA and their children Kolby, Kaylee & Kace Adams; daughter, Dee Dee Adams Burson & husband Pastor Jacob Burson and their children Brady, Brooke, Brielle and Bo Burson; daughter, Michelle Adams Harness of Monroe, GA and her children Lexie and Anna Grace Harness; four sisters, Catherine Brannan, Ellen Hunter, Linda Holbrook and Sheila Wallace; brother, Wayne Adams (Shirley); mother-in-law, Ann M. “MawMaw” Carter; sister-in-law, Dottie Billingsley; brother-in-law, Danny Carter (Susan); numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Birtie Harrison Adams; and sister, Margaret Adams Oakes.
Terry was born on February 22, 1947 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was a 1965 graduate of Central Gwinnett High School where he played football, excelled in baseball, and ran track. Terry could be seen running up the hill after a baseball game in his uniform to get ready to run in the track meet. Terry played baseball at Middle Georgia College and went on to serve in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during Vietnam and in the Panama Canal Zone. Terry also ran track and played baseball in the Army traveling to numerous countries while stationed in the Panama Canal Zone. He served as a Construction Superintendent for 40 years until his retirement. He most recently was working part-time at the Home Depot in Monroe. Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a loyal friend. His favorite pastime was sitting on his back porch surrounded by his beloved family. Carole, his four children and eleven grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved watching them play any sport, loved holidays when everyone gathered together at home. He coached his children in different sports and served as an 8th Grade Football Coach for several years impacting and touching the lives of many. He was a Georgia Tech and Alabama fan and loved to listen to his favorite artist, Elvis Presley. Terry loved his family, enjoyed sports so much and lived his life to the fullest. He will be deeply missed.
The Service Honoring the Life of Terry Adams will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 5:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel with Pastor Jacob Burson officiating. Cremation will follow the service. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. on the day of the service. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.wagesfuneralhome.com. Tom M.
