Irene Allgood Phillips, 85, of Monroe (formally Walnut Grove) went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2019. Irene was born on April 19, 1934, in Jersey, GA to the late Mamie Peters Allgood and to the late Roy Allgood.
Irene was a loving wife to her husband of 65 years Joseph Donald Phillips. She was a homemaker, mother, master seamstress, decorator of her home, and groomed animals until her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Donald Phillips of Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and David Tyner of Hull, GA; grandchildren, Wade and Jaclyn Tyner, Andrew Tyner, Mimi Tyner; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Oliver, Laylah, Caroline, Violet, James, Elizabeth (Ellie), Samantha, Holly; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Lana Allgood; beloved niece, Faye Allgood Barnes; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Robert and Barbara Phillips; sister-in-law, Nette Phillips Yancey.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Meadows Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Meadows Funeral Home with Wade Tyner, Randall Allgood, and Bill Lloyd officiating. Pallbearers will be the great-nephews. Interment will be at New Hope UMC Cemetery in Between, GA.
